Scholarships are listed in three categories: General; College Specific and Local All scholarships listed here can be found on Naviance. Students are also encouraged to check with each college/university they are applying to for additional scholarship opportunities. If a scholarship requires a nomination by the high school, students must let their counselor know they wish to be considered.

Caring Women’s Connection – Seniors 2/1/2018 This $3000 scholarship is available to any graduating high school senior who has performed 50 hours of verifiable community service, has maintained a GPA of 3.0/4.0 in Math, Science and English, and will be enrolled full-time at an accredited 2 or 4 year college, university or vocational school. Applications are available at: www.caringwomensconnection.com General Henry Dearborn American History Scholarship - Seniors 2/1/2018 This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans on majoring in American History. The student is not limited to study in an institution of higher learning in and the scholarship is not based on financial need. Applications are available on Naviance. Illinois Daughters of the American Revolution-North Shore Chapter - Seniors 2/1/2018 A total of seven $1000 scholarships will be awarded, one per each Illinois DAR chapter. These scholarships are offered to graduating seniors who are U. S. citizens and will be attending college in Illinois. These scholarships are based primarily on need and require a letter of endorsement from the sponsoring chapter, the North Shore Chapter. Applications are available on Naviance. American Meteorological Society Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship – All Students 2/2/2018 This program, which is open to all high school students, provides a $5000 scholarship to encourage students to study in the atmospheric and related sciences. Awards range from $5000-1st; $3000-2nd; $1500-3d & $300 HM. Application and information is available at: http://billofrightsinstitute.org/engage/students-programs-events/scholarship Davidson Fellows Scholarships – All Students 2/8/2018 The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships to extraordinary young people who have completed a significant piece of work. Significant work is an accomplishment that experts in the field recognize as meaningful and has the potential to make a positive contribution to society. Application categories are Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, Philosophy and Outside the Box. Applicants must be 18 or younger as of October 1; be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in the , or be stationed overseas due to active military duty. Applications and specific details about the program including guidelines is available at: http://luminarts.org Paramount Tall Club of Chicago (PTC) – Seniors 2/12/2018 One $750 Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who lives in the Chicagoland area and meets the height requirements of the club, 5’10’’ for females and 6’2” for males and will attend either a 2-year or 4- year college in the fall. Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois - Seniors 2/15/2018 This scholarship program identifies talented high school seniors who have the promise and drive to be excellent (Regular) teachers in high-need schools. Golden Apple Scholars will receive a total of $23,000 in scholarships and stipends to attend one of 52 Illinois partner universities and must agree to teach for five years in an Illinois school that serves low income students. Applicants may be nominated by a teacher or school official or may self-nominate. Applications and have different information is available at: www.co-op.edu deadlines Illinois Realtors Bicentennial Essay Contest – All Students 2/15/2018 We want to hear what "Home Is Where the Heart Is" means to you. The contest is open to Illinois high school students in grades nine through 12 attending public, private or home schools. Essays must be a minimum of 500 words but can be no more than 700 words and must be the original work of the student. Applications are available at: www.cognitoforms.com Illinois PTA Lillian Glover Scholarship - Seniors 2/15/2018 Two scholarships, $3000 and $2000, will be awarded to graduating seniors in the State of Illinois who are enrolling in a college or university in Education or an Education-related degree program, which may include: Librarians, Instructional Media Specialists, School Nurses, School Psychologists, or Social Workers (all of which require certification from a State Board of Education). Applications are available online at www.illinoispta.org Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship – Seniors 2/15/2018 The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) provides a multi-faceted experience to address the financial needs of minority students who aspire to attend college as well as guide them through the process of higher education. Recipients will receive four–year scholarships of up to $7,500 per year to attend a four–year accredited college or university of their choice. Additionally, JRF scholars participate in an extensive four-year program that includes mentoring, leadership development, practical skill-building, internship and job counseling and placement, as well as many networking opportunities. Applications are available beginning November 1 at: http://www.jackierobinson.org/apply Scholarships for Military Children - Seniors 2/16/2018 The program will award $2000 scholarships and is open to sons and daughters of active duty, reserve/guard, or retired military commissary customers. Each recipient must be planning to enroll full-time in a four-year undergraduate college or university, accredited in the U. S. and must have a minimum cumulative grade average of 3.0 on a 4.0 basis. Application are available at: www.militaryscholar.org Beta Sigma Psi Martin Luther Scholarship – Male Seniors 2/17/2018 The recipient will receive $2,000 towards tuition and fees at any accredited 4-year College or University in the United States. Applicants must be male, a confirmed member of the Lutheran congregation and beginning his college studies in the fall. Applications are available at: www.betasigmapsi.org Illinois Chemical Education Foundation (ICEF) -Seniors 2/23/2018 The ICEF awards a number of $2000 scholarships to honor and recognize seniors who have exemplified outstanding Postmark achievement in academics, extracurricular and/or employment activities and community involvement. Information Inactive is available online at: www.cicil.net Patient Advocate Scholarship for Survivors – All Students 2/24/2018 Twelve $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to individuals that are legal residents of the United States, under the age of 25, who have been diagnosed with or treated for cancer, a chronic, or life threatening debilitating disease within the past five years. Information is available at: http://www.teendrive365inschool.com/teens/video-challenge Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Illinois -Seniors 3/1/2018 Scholarships ranging from $1000-$1500 will be awarded to students based on financial need and scholastic ability. Applicants must be a resident of Illinois and a U.S. citizen, maintaining a “C” average, and planning to continue their education at a post-secondary school or an accredited vocational/technical school. Applications are available online at www.ioof-il.org Christopher Martinat NOLS Scholarship (NOLS-National Outdoor Leadership School) – All Students 3/1/2018 This scholarship fully funds tuition for a month-long NOLS experience in the Rocky Mountains. Must be 16 years of age, a resident of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff or Knollwood. Applications are available on Naviance and in the CCRC American Chemical Society Scholars Program – Seniors 3/1/2018 Renewable scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded to African American, Hispanic and American Indian students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry-related fields, such as environmental science, toxicology and chemical technology. Applicants must demonstrate both high academic achievement in chemistry or science (Grade Point Average 3.0, "B" or better) and financial need and be planning a career in the chemical sciences. Applications are available at: www.chemistry.org Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) - Seniors 3/1/2018 Scholarships ranging from $1500-$5000 will be awarded to high school seniors based on academic achievement, school and community service, activities and financial need. Applicants must be members of Chicago JACL or may join at the time of application. Applications are available at: www.jaclchicago.org Norwegian National League Scholarship – All Students 3/1/2018 A $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded to college bound high school seniors and a $500 scholarship will be awarded to students in 9-11 grades who are of Norwegian ancestry, and reside in the counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Kendall, McHenry or Will. Seniors must have a 3.0/4.0 GPA and submit a minimum 500word essay on any topic regarding Norway while students in grades 9-11 must submit a 300 word essay on any topic regarding Norway. Applications are available at: www.nnleague.org Minority Teachers of Illinois Scholarship Program – Seniors 3/1/2018 Offers minority students attending an accredited college or university in Illinois up to $5000/year renewable scholarship. Recipients must sign a promissory note agreeing to teach in a school with a minimum of 30% minority students. Finalists will be selected based on creativity of the full entry, including the entry image and accompanying description which has a maximum of 500 characters. Applications are available online at: www.ilamvets.org Sommer Foundation – Seniors 3/2/2018 Three to five scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 will be awarded to deserving college bound seniors who have experienced the death of a parent and despite the resulting emotional trauma, have performed in an exemplary manner during his or her high school career. Students should demonstrate strong academic promise, positive extracurricular and/or work experience, contributions through community or school service, and financial need. Applications are available at: www.crca.org Lake County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship – Seniors 3/5/2018 One scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior currently attending a Lake County public high school in recognition of scholastic ability and achievement, contributions to the community, and a desire to pursue a career in education. Applications are available at: www.LCRTA.com Chicago North Shore Alumnae Panhellenic Council Scholarship - Female Seniors 3/9/2018 The Chicago North Shore Alumnae Panhellenic Council will award at least one $1000 scholarship to a graduating high school woman, residing in the Chicago North Shore area. Applicants must be well-rounded and demonstrate outstanding school and community involvement and academic excellence. Candidates must be enrolling at a four- year college or university that has National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) chapters on its campus. These applicants do not have to be part of the school's Panhellenic recruitment process (sometimes known as "sorority rush") nor are they obligated to join any NPC chapter. Fueling the Minds of the Future - Seniors 3/12/2018 To be considered for a $2000 scholarship, students must reside in the Chicagoland area, have at least a 2.5/4.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll full-time in a trade or vocational school in the fall. Applications are available online at: www.fuelingminds.com Heros Legacy Scholarship – Seniors 3/14/2018 This $5000 scholarship honors not only those who have fallen in battle, but all who have died or have become disabled through their active military service since September 11, 2001 and is open to their dependent unmarried children under age 23. A disability is defined as one that results in the service member being eligible for, and receiving, Traumatic Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (TSGLI) or a permanent and total disability compensation rating of 100%. Applications are available at: http://www.militaryscholar.org/legacy/index.html Italian Catholic Federation Scholarship - Seniors 3/15/2018 The Federation is offering $400 college scholarships to further the education of students who are Roman Catholic and of Italian descent (or whose non-Italian Roman Catholic parents, guardians or grandparents are members of the Federation), who maintain a GPA of at least 3.2/4.0 and who live within the Roman Catholic Dioceses of California, Nevada, Illinois and Arizona, only where Branches of the Federation are established. Applications are available at: www.deanritter.org AFA Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship - Seniors 3/26/2018 The AFA will award a $5,000 scholarship to the winner, a $2,500 scholarship to the first runner-up, a $1,000 scholarship to the second runner-up and seven $500 scholarships for Honorable Mention. This scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for college-bound students to give thoughtful consideration to the impact Alzheimer’s disease has on their own lives and others in their family and community. These $2,000 grants will be awarded to students who plan to enroll in a full- or part-time course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or trade/vocational school. The Metropolitan Mathematics Club of Chicago – Seniors 3/30/2018 A $2000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who will pursue a career in the teaching of mathematics. In addition, up to two Filliman Scholarships may be awarded for the same amount (funded by a gift from the Filliman estate). Applications are available on Naviance. Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship - Seniors 3/31/2018 This $2500 scholarship seeks students who have demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community service or other extra curricular activities and whose family's adjusted gross income does not exceed $60,000. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents with a GPA of 4.0/5/0 and who will be attending a four-year college or university within the 50 states or District of Columbia. Applications are available at: jmscottmemorialfund.org Germans from Russia Heritage Society – All Students 3/31/2018 A $300 award will be given to the winning essay for high school seniors and the winning essay from grades 9-11 will be awarded $150. The subject of the paper must be directly related to German Russian history, heritage or culture, and be the contestant’s original work. A contestant does not need to be ethnic German-Russian to enter the contest. Applications are available online at www.ahepa.org Palumbo Family Foundation Scholarship Program – Seniors 3/31/2018 Scholarships amounts range from $500-$10,000 and are open to local high school seniors who have a 3.0/4.0 GPA, are U.S. Citizens with a permanent residence in Illinois for at least 6 months prior to January 1, 2018 and who have an adjusted income of $60,000 or less as documented on a 2017 federal 1040 income tax return. Applications are available at: www.palumbofoundation.org Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association Scholarship - Seniors 4/1/2018 Scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded to high school seniors who have been accepted and plan to attend college in the fall. Applicants must have been involved in or have participated as a player, umpire, scorekeeper, coach or as a regular volunteer in the Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association (LBYBA) program and will have demonstrated a positive and helpful attitude serving the LBYBA. Luke Scholarship-Lake County Chapter of the IL Society of Professional Engineers - Seniors 4/1/2018 This $500 scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior from a Lake or McHenry County High School who will be entering an engineering program at an ABET-EAC accredited college or university. Students are asked to read the “Fire Sprinkler Essay” about automatic fire sprinklers and then take a ten question multiple-choice, open book test. Information and applications are available at: www.afsascholarship.org Peter Baker Knights of Columbus Scholarship -Seniors 4/1/2018 Scholarships of at least $2000 will be awarded to students based on academic achievements, leadership experience and extracurricular activities. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, attending a Catholic college or Catholic university leading to a bachelor’s degree. They must also be a registered parishioner, or the son or daughter of a registered parishioner of the Church of St. Mary or St. Patrick in Lake Forest or one of the Catholic churches located in Lake County, Illinois. Jean Paul Ohadi Scholarship - Seniors 4/1/2018 The Deerfield Chapter of the Jean Paul Ohadi Foundation will offer $1000 scholarships to recognize outstanding gay and lesbian youth from the community and to encourage continuing education for self-identified lesbian and gay youth and foster a positive image of gay and lesbian young people in society. The North Suburban Special Education District (NSSED) foundation will award up to six $1000 scholarships will be awarded to special education students pursuing further education through a college or post-secondary program as well as students who intend to pursue a degree in special education. Applications are available at www.nssed.org/foundation The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority - Seniors 4/9/2018 Applicants must plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning. Any student who is an underrepresented minority with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale or a 3.75 on a 5.0 scale may apply. Candidates must reside within the following geographical boundaries: Northern Suburbs of Chicago, IL bound by Route 137 to the North, Howard St. to the South, Lake Michigan to the East and Route 83 to the West. This scholarship seeks well-rounded students who can demonstrate their dedication and commitment to continuing their education and who demonstrate financial need. Applications are available at www.uw-mc.org/nnw College Jump Start Scholarship – Students in Grades 10-12 4/15/2018 The $1,000 College JumpStart Scholarship is a semi-annual, merit-based competition -- financial need is not considered -- that is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education. This award can be used at any college or university in the United States. Applications are available at: http://www.jumpstart-scholarship.net Student-View Scholarship - Seniors 4/22/2018 Simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The scholarship ranging from $500-$4000 will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. Kids’ Chance Inc. of Illinois Scholarship – Ages 16-25 4/30/2018 Applicants must have a parent who has been killed or seriously injured as a result of a work related accident that meets the criteria of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act and that has resulted in demonstrated financial need.
