SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION Protecting Yourself from Scholarship Scams 1. If you must pay money to get money, it might be a scam. 2. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. 3. Spend the time, not the money. 4. Never invest more than a postage stamp to get information about scholarships. 5. Legitimate scholarship foundations do not charge application fees. 6. If you're suspicious of an offer, it's usually with good reason. Don’t be fooled by an official sounding name. Words like “National,” “Foundations,” or “Administration” in the title doesn’t mean it is a legitimate operation.

A few tips regarding scholarship applications As the student, it is your responsibility to READ and follow all Scholarship instructions, and request your official transcript from the registrar (Mrs. Tornabene) in person. Please complete a gold transcript request form for each official transcript requested. It is YOUR responsibility to pick up the requested transcript from the Registrar’s Office and then.... for “In School” Scholarships submit the complete Scholarship Application to Mrs. Grady and make sure you meet your deadlines… 3:15 PM of deadline date! FEBRUARY 2013 COLLEGE OF DUPAGE PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS AWARD The College of DuPage is offering a Presidential Scholars Award for 2013 Graduates. This full tuition scholarship will be awarded to qualified 2011 graduates. To be considered, students must have a composite ACT Score of 27 OR an unweighted GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale or better on seventh semester high school transcript. ADDISON COUNCIL PTA SCHOLARSHIP The Addison Council PTA is offering (2) $500 one year, non-renewable scholarships. Students must graduate from an Addison High School and enroll in an institution of higher learning. Applicants must also have attended an Addison District #4 School. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 8, 2013.

DUPAGE COUNTY FARM BUREAU FOUNDATION ARNOLD OESTMANN SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship has no agriculture studies requirement, however to be eligible, the applicant’s parents must be members in good standing of the DuPage County Farm Bureau for at least two years prior to January 2013. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is May 1, 2013.

AMERICANS OF ITALIAN DESCENT SCHOLARSHIP The Americans of Italian Descent of DuPage County will award up to (6) $1000 scholarship to graduating seniors of Addison Trail, Lake Park or Willowbrook High Schools. Applicants must be residents of DuPage County, of Italian Heritage, possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4- scale and have been accepted to a two year or four-year college/university. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is April 8, 2013.

IACAC SCHOLARSHIP Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) is pleased to offer two $1000 scholarships ($500 each semester, non-renewable) to students who exhibit a commitment to learning and have demonstrated leadership skills and/or community service involvement. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 8, 2013.

ADDISON ART GUILD SCHOLARSHIP The Addison Art Guild is offering (1) $300 non-renewable scholarship to a Senior who plans to continue his/her art education at an art school or university in the fall of 2013. Applications are available in the Guidance Office or from Mrs. Ramon in the ATHS Art Department. The deadline is March 1, 2013.

WOOD DALE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE The Wood Dale Chamber of Commerce is offering (1) $600 scholarship to a Wood Dale student graduating from Addison Trail High School. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and should be returned to Mrs. Grady. The deadline is 3:15 PM, April 12, 2013.

DUPAGE COUNTY FARM BUREAU FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP The DuPage County Farm Bureau Foundation is offering up to (4) $1000 scholarships to qualified students. Students’ parents must be members in good standing of the DuPage County Farm Bureau for at least two years prior to January 2012 and be planning a career in chemical/biological research, association management, agricultural engineering, law, accounting, communications, economics or another agricultural occupation. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is May 1, 2013.

2013 STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The 2013 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $10,000 worth of scholarship to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior College or career school. BEST BUY SCHOLARSHIP Best Buy Children’s Foundation is awarding $2.75 million in scholarships to recognize and reward students who have made extraordinary contributions both inside and outside the classroom. This year the program will award scholarships to students in grades 9-12 living in the U.S. or Puerto Rico who plan to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study upon high school graduation. 1,100 students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship. If you’re a 9-12 grade student who plans to attend post-secondary education, have solid grades and are involved in community service or have work experience, we encourage you to apply! ILLINIOS LUMBER & MATERIAL DEALERS SCHOLARSHIP The Illinois Lumber & Material Dealers Education Foundation is not-for-profit organization established to aid and promote lumber industry education throughout Illinois. The number of scholarships and the dollar amounts vary, but range between $500--$2000. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 15, 2013.

AES ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP AES Engineering is pleased to continue to offer scholarships to motivated students. The belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining scholarship recipients. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of character, as determined by the evaluated essays submitted. Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wild spectrum of fields of study, their commitment to community service, academics, and demonstrated leadership. WALGREENS & OSCO--CHICAGO COLLEGE OF PHARMACY CAREER EXPLORERS PROGRAM Students who will be completing their Junior or Senior Year by early June 2013 may apply to participate in this intensive six-week program. These programs consist of organized hands-on activities, in which the student functions as a pharmacy technician at various Walgreens or Osco Drug pharmacies and a short course in pharmacy-related topics at the Chicago College of Pharmacy. These programs are scheduled concurrently from July 8, 2013—August 2, 2013 inclusive. JACK AND JILL OF AMERICA WEST SUBURBAN CHICAGO CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP Jack and Jill of America, Inc. West Suburban Chicago Chapter is pleased to announce the West Suburban Chicago Scholarship 2013. This is a scholarship opportunity for African American seniors attending high schools in DuPage, Will, and Kendall Counties. The scholarship will be awarded to four qualified students for the amount of $2000 each. Scholarships are intended for undergraduate college attendance, beginning in the fall of 2013, at a qualifying college or university. BUICK ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program celebrates motivated, passionate college bound students who have succeeded both inside and outside of the classroom, and who may not be able to attend college without financial assistance. Applicants should be enrolling as a full-time freshmen at a 4-years college/university, plan to major in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Design and are interested in the automotive or related industries. KATHRYN G. HANSEN SCHOLARSHIP Each year the University of Illinois Secretariat offers this scholarship to students planning to pursue higher education in the office professional, secretarial or business-related fields. One $500 scholarship will be awarded and can be used for tuition, fees, books, or other related educational expenses. Information/Applications are available in the Guidance Office. SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS SCHOLARSHIP The Sons of Confederate Veterans is offering a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior, male or female, who resides in Illinois and who will be enrolling in the fall at a community college, college or university. Applicants must be a descendant of a male who served honorably in the Army, Navy, Judicial, Executive, or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 15, 2013.

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR QUALITY SCHOLARSHIP The Fox Valley Section 1208 of the American Society for Quality announces the Richard A. Maas Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will fund one year of undergraduate tuition and fees up to a maximum of $2000. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is March 4, 2013.

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP The AXA Achievement Scholarship is now available to current high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the U.S. by fall of 2013. The applicant must demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidence by outstanding achievement in an activity in school, community or the work place and be recommended by an unrelated adult who can attest the student achievement. ITALIAN CATHOLIC FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIP The Italian Catholic Federation Scholarship is a $400 scholarship awarded to a Roman Catholic graduating Senior of Italian decent. TIM BRESLIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The are proud to once again present the Tim Breslin Memorial Scholarship, which awards one student a semester of college tuition. The Chicago Wolves created this scholarship to honor Tim, a former Wolves Player (Addison, IL native & Driscoll Catholic High School graduate) and staunch supporter of our community outreach programs, who passed away in 2005 due to complications from appendiceal cancer. The tuition award can be used towards any university or college across the country, not just Illinois schools.
