Scholarships are listed in three categories: General; College Specific and Local All scholarships listed here can be found on Naviance. Students are also encouraged to check with each college/university they are applying to for additional scholarship opportunities. If a scholarship requires a nomination by the high school, students must let their counselor know they wish to be considered.

Christopher Martinat NOLS Scholarship (NOLS-National Outdoor Leadership School) – All Students 3/1/2017 This scholarship fully funds tuition for a month-long NOLS experience in the Rocky Mountains. Must be 16 years of age, a resident of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff or Knollwood. Applications are available on Naviance and in the CCRC. AMVETS Scholarship Program - Seniors 3/1/2017 Various scholarships are available that include: service; nursing; junior ROTC; trade school; and female memorial scholarships. Applications are available online at: www.ilamvets.org Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation - Seniors 3/1/2017 Several scholarships are available if you are a child of an active duty Marine or reserve U.S. Marine or other (see website), have a 2.0/4.0 GPA, and your 2014 family income does not exceed $94,000. Information and applications are available at: www.mcsf.org Norwegian National League Scholarship – All Students 3/1/2017 A $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded to college bound high school seniors and a $500 scholarship will be awarded to students in 9-11 grades who are of Norwegian ancestry, and reside in the counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Kendall, McHenry or Will. Seniors must have a 3.0/4.0 GPA and submit a minimum 500word essay on any topic regarding Norway while students in grades 9-11 must submit a 300 word essay on any topic regarding Norway. Applications are available at: www.nnleague.org American Chemical Society Scholars Program – Seniors 3/1/2017 Renewable scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded to African American, Hispanic and American Indian students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry-related fields, such as environmental science, toxicology and chemical technology. Applicants must demonstrate both high academic achievement in chemistry or science (Grade Average 3.0, "B" or better) and financial need and be planning a career in the chemical sciences. Applications are available at: www.chemistry.org Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) - Seniors 3/1/2017 Scholarships ranging from $1500-$5000 will be awarded to high school seniors based on academic achievement, school and community service, activities and financial need. Applicants must be members of Chicago JACL or may join at the time of application. Applications are available at: www.jaclchicago.org Frame My Future Scholarship – Seniors 3/1/2017 Five $1000 scholarships will be awarded to seniors based on their online submission of an original, digital creation showing how you frame your future. Finalists will be selected based on creativity of the full entry, including the entry image and accompanying description which has a maximum of 500 characters. Applications are available at: http://www.diplomaframe.com/contests.aspx Minority Teachers of Illinois Scholarship Program – Seniors 3/1/2017 Offers minority students attending an accredited college or university in Illinois up to $5000/year renewable scholarship. Recipients must sign a promissory note agreeing to teach in a school with a minimum of 30% minority students. Applications are available at: http://www.isac.org/students/during-college/applying-for-financial- aid/applications/tesp Lake County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship – Seniors 3/2/2017 One scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior currently attending a Lake County public high school in recognition of scholastic ability and achievement, contributions to the community, and a desire to pursue a career in education. Applications are available at: www.LCRTA.com Chicago Roofing Contractors Association -Seniors 3/3/2017 Two $3000 scholarships will be awarded to students who have been accepted as a full-time student into an undergraduate degree program in liberal arts and sciences, engineering, architecture or business, and who have an ACT score of 29 or greater. Applications are available at: www.crca.org Sommer Foundation – Seniors 3/3/2017 Three to five scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 will be awarded to deserving college bound seniors who have experienced the death of a parent and despite the resulting emotional trauma, have performed in an exemplary manner during his or her high school career. Students should demonstrate strong academic promise, positive extracurricular and/or work experience, contributions through community or school service, and financial need. Applications are available at: http://sommerfoundation.org Tim Breslin Memorial Scholarship – All Students 3/3/2017 This scholarship will provide a $7,500 stipend toward college tuition in loving memory of Tim Breslin a former hockey player. All interested students must complete the application and submit a typed or handwritten essay (500 words or less. Applicants must be well-rounded and demonstrate outstanding school and community involvement and academic excellence. Candidates must be enrolling at a four- year college or university that has National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) chapters on its campus. These applicants do not have to be part of the school's Panhellenic recruitment process (sometimes known as "sorority rush") nor are they obligated to join any NPC chapter. Leggette 2017 Young Woman of Achievement Scholarship - Female Seniors 3/10/2017 This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior girl who exemplifies YWCA's historic values of community service, professional achievements, integrity and dedication to the lives of others. Fueling the Minds of the Future - Seniors 3/13/2017 To be considered for a $2000 scholarship, students must reside in the Chicagoland area, have at least a 2.5/4.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll full-time in a trade or vocational school in the fall. Applications are available online at: www.fuelingminds.com Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association Educational Foundation - Seniors 3/14/2017 Scholarships ranging from $500-$1000 will be awarded to students who plan to enroll in an accredited trade school, 2 year or 4 year college or university intending to study the lumber and building materials industry. Application is available at: http://ilmda.com/education Heros Legacy Scholarship – Seniors 3/14/2017 This $5000 scholarship honors not only those who have fallen in battle, but all who have died or have become disabled through their active military service since September 11, 2001 and is open to their dependent unmarried children under age 23. A disability is defined as one that results in the service member being eligible for, and receiving, Traumatic Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (TSGLI) or a permanent and total disability compensation rating of 100%. Applications will be available December 13th at: http://www.militaryscholar.org/legacy/index.html Italian Catholic Federation Scholarship - Seniors 3/15/2017 The Federation is offering $400 college scholarships to further the education of students who are Roman Catholic and of Italian descent (or whose non-Italian Roman Catholic parents, guardians or grandparents are members of the Federation), who maintain a GPA of at least 3.2/4.0 and who live within the Roman Catholic Dioceses of California, Nevada, Illinois and Arizona, only where Branches of the Federation are established. Applications are available at: www.icf.org Lake County Sheriff’s Office - Seniors 3/15/2017 Each Illinois county awards at least one $500 scholarship each school year to students who demonstrate outstanding scholastic, extra-curricular and character qualifications. The scholarship program is open to Illinois students who will be attending an Illinois higher learning institution. Applications are available January 15 at: http://www.ilsheriff.org/index.php/scholarships Dean Ritter Trust for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing – Seniors 3/17/2017 Scholarships ranging from $1000-$5000 will be awarded to high school seniors who are deaf or hard of hearing and are residents of the state of Illinois. Recipients will be chosen based on financial need and school and community involvement. Applications are available at: http://www.deanritter.org/2017-scholarship/ Negro League Committee Scholarship – Seniors 3/27/2017 This essay contest will provide four $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors who will pursue a degree at an accredited U. S. institution. Applicants are asked to write an essay of 1200 words or less on one of the two topics presented on the application. Applications are available at: http://sabr.org/malloy Ayn Rand Institute Anthem Essay Contest - 9th & 10 Grades 3/29/2017 This essay contest provides awards ranging in amount from $30-$2000. Winning essays must demonstrate an outstanding grasp of the philosophic meaning of Anthem. Information is available at: www.aynrand.org/contests Odenza Scholarship – Ages 16-25 3/30/2017 To be considered for the $500 Odenza Marketing Scholarship, students must be between the ages of 16 and 25 on March 30, 2015 and submit answers to the essay questions, which can be found on the application page prior to the March 30, 2015 deadline. Applications are available online at: http://www.odenzascholarships.com KFC Reach Educational Grant - Seniors 3/30/2017 The REACH Educational Grant Program helps KFC employees pursue their educational dreams. These $2,000 grants will be awarded to students who plan to enroll in a full- or part-time course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or trade/vocational school. Applications are available at: http://www.kfc.com/foundation Princeton University Ten-Minute Play Contest – Juniors 3/31/2017 Applicants may submit only one play – 10 pages maximum (one page equals one minute). Prizes will range from 1st: $500; 2nd: $250; and 3rd: $100. Applications are available at: http://arts.princeton.edu/about/opportunities/high- school-contests/ten-minute-play-contest Order of AHEPA – Seniors 3/31/2017 Scholarships up to $2000 will be awarded to students who are high school seniors, have a minimum of a “B” average, and are either of Greek heritage or have a parent that is an active member of the AHEPA family. Applications are available online at www.ahepa.org Germans from Russia Heritage Society – All Students 3/31/2017 A $300 award will be given to the winning essay for high school seniors and the winning essay from grades 9-11 will be awarded $150. The subject of the paper must be directly related to German Russian history, heritage or culture, and be the contestant’s original work. A contestant does not need to be ethnic German-Russian to enter the contest. Information and entry forms are available at: www.grhs.org Friends of Volo Bog - Seniors 3/31/2017 A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who plans to study environmental or natural science at an accredited college or university. Applications are available at: http://www.friendsofvolobog.org/#!scholarships/camt Marianjoy Scholarship – Seniors 3/31/2017 Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors with a permanent physical disability which may have resulted from: brain injury; musculoskeletal impairments such as amputation or multiple trauma; neuromuscular disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy and Guillain-Barré Syndrome; spinal cord injury or stroke and who will enroll either full-time or part-time at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. Last year $60,000 in scholarships was awarded to students with physical disabilities. Applications are available at: http://www.marianjoyfoundation.org/scholarship/Scholarship2.aspx Palumbo Family Foundation Scholarship Program – Seniors 3/31/2017 Scholarships are open to local high school seniors who have a 3.0/4.0 GPA, are U.S. Citizens with a permanent residence in Lake County, IL for at least 6 months prior to January 1, 2017 and who have an adjusted income of $48,500 or less as documented on a 2016 federal 1040 income tax return. Applications are available at: www.palumbofoundation.org Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association Scholarship - Seniors 4/1/2017 Scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded to high school seniors who have been accepted and plan to attend college in the fall. Applicants must have been involved in or have participated as a player, umpire, scorekeeper, coach or as a regular volunteer in the Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association (LBYBA) program and will have demonstrated a positive and helpful attitude serving the LBYBA. Luke Scholarship-Lake County Chapter of the IL Society of Professional Engineers - Seniors 4/1/2017 This $500 scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior from a Lake or McHenry County High School who will be entering an engineering program at an ABET-EAC accredited college or university. PDK Prospective Educator Scholarship - Seniors 4/1/2017 College scholarships for high school seniors who will major in education and who have a connection to PDK (Phi Delta Kappa) including Future Educators Association members. Applications are available at: http://www.pflagdeerfield.org/scholarship.html George Maugolis Memorial Foundation Scholarship - Seniors 4/1/2017 The scholarship committee will award $1000-$1500 scholarships to applicants of Hellenic descent, who have a 4.0/5.0 GPA, and plan to attend an accredited four-year university. For additional consideration based on need, attach a copy of your Pell Grant award letter or an Illinois State Assistance letter. Applications are available online at www.gmmt.org Project Yellow Light Scholarship – Seniors 4/1/2017 This is a scholarship competition designed to bring about change. High school seniors must submit a video that is designed to motivate, persuade and encourage their peers to not drive distracted. The first-place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship; second-place: $2,000 and third-place: $1,000. Information is available at: www.projectyellowlight.com Vivant Smart Home Scholarship – Seniors 4/1/2017 One (1) winning applicant will receive a $5,000 scholarship to cover their educational expenses in the field or major of their choosing from within the eligible majors listed in the Scholarship Official Rules. Applicants are required to post a 1-2 minute video creatively responding to one of two prompts listed on the website. Applications are available at: https://www.vivint.com/scholarship The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority - Seniors 4/2/2017 Applicants must plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning. Any student who is an underrepresented minority with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale or a 3.75 on a 5.0 scale may apply. Candidates must reside within the following geographical boundaries: Northern Suburbs of Chicago, IL bound by Route 137 to the North, Howard St. to the South, Lake Michigan to the East and Route 83 to the West. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have work experience and can demonstrate participation in community service, public service and extracurricular activities. Students are asked to read the “Fire Sprinkler Essay” about automatic fire sprinklers and then take a ten question multiple-choice, open book test. The North Suburban Special Education District (NSSED) foundation will award up to six $1000 scholarships will be awarded to special education students pursuing further education through a college or post-secondary program as well as students who intend to pursue a degree in special education. Applications are available at www.nssed.org/foundation Peter Baker Knights of Columbus Scholarship - Seniors 4/10/2017 Scholarships of at least $2000 will be awarded to students based on academic achievements, leadership experience and extracurricular activities. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, attending a Catholic college or Catholic university leading to a bachelor’s degree. They must also be a registered parishioner, or the son or daughter of a registered parishioner of the Church of St. Mary or St. Patrick in Lake Forest or one of the Catholic churches located in Lake County, Illinois. Society of Women Engineers-Chicago Regional Section Scholarship – Female Seniors 4/10/2017 Scholarships ranging from $1000-$1500 will be awarded to four or five graduating females who have been accepted into an engineering or computer science program at an accredited college or university. The applicant's unweighted grade point average must be a 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Winners will be required to provide proof of enrollment into an engineering program at an accredited university. Applications are available at www.uw-mc.org/nnw College Jump Start Scholarship – Students in Grades 10-12 4/15/2017 The $1,000 College JumpStart Scholarship is a semi-annual, merit-based competition -- financial need is not considered -- that is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education. This award can be used at any college or university in the . Information is available at: www.aynrand.org/contests Community Service Scholarship – Lake Bluff Seniors 5/1/2017 The Lake Bluff American Legion Post 510 will award a $1000 scholarship to a graduating Lake Forest High student who is a Lake Bluff resident and who will be entering a field of study that results in community involvement. Applications are available at www.jccia.com PAPA Scholarship and Safety Foundation Scholarship – Seniors 5/1/2017 A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an individual who is an Illinois resident, planning to attend an accredited University, College or Aviation Technical School located in the state of Illinois and pursuing a course of study in a recognized professional aviation program. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0/4.0 GPA, involvement in school and community activities, including activities and experiences related to aviation and demonstrate financial need. Herchenbach Memorial Scholarship - Seniors 5/20/2017 This memorial scholarship fund awards $5,000 college scholarships to high school seniors currently battling cancer or other life threatening diseases whose high school experience is being overshadowed by their disease. Iowa State University-Special Awards for Illinois Residents 3/1/2017 Iowa State offers several merit scholarships with various academic requirements: Academic Recognition Award $5500/year for four years; Award for Competitive Excellence: Level I $8000/year for four years; Level II $6500/year for four years; Return to Iowa-Generations Scholarship: $1500/year for four years and is awarded to incoming freshman who are the children or grandchildren of Iowa State graduates. Deadline Local Scholarships: LFHS Seniors Only *Applications are available on Naviance* American Legion Scholarship 3/15/2017 Scholarships ranging from $1000-$4000 will be awarded to students who have achieved excellent academic promise, manifest ideals, possess leadership qualities and have strong vocational or professional goals. Financial need and military connection will be considered in determining the award. Multiple awards Applause Excellence in Music Scholarship 3/15/2017 The $500 Applause Scholarships are intended to recognize outstanding musical accomplishments by LFHS senior music students and to further encourage their study of music and are awarded to one student in each of the following the categories: band, orchestra and chorus, and a fourth discretionary award for composition or other category. APT Senior Contribution Award 3/15/2017 The $500 Senior Contribution Awards are given each year to those students who have been involved and given their time, energy and talents to the benefit of LFHS. Emphasis will be placed on school service, although community service will be considered as well. Multiple awards Deer Path Art League Scholarship 3/15/2017 This $1000 fine arts scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who will study fine arts as a major at an accredited college, university or art school. Dorothy Gleiser Scholarship 3/15/2017 This $2000 scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in earth science. If no earth science candidate applies, then another science discipline will be considered. Applications are available on naviance. Future Educator Scholarship 3/15/2017 This $500-1000 scholarship is for students who intend to pursue a career in k-12 education upon graduation from college. It is sponsored by the Lake Forest Education Association, which is the professional organization of teachers at Lake Forest High School. Multiple Awards Friends of the Lake Forest Library Scholarship 3/15/2017 Scholarships in the amount of $2000 will be awarded to graduating seniors who clearly demonstrate a passion for reading. Multiple awards Jay G. Criche Performing Arts Scholarship 3/15/2017 This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating LFHS senior who is planning to pursue involvement in the performing arts and who has participated in at least two CenterStage productions in some capacity. Jim Gantt Memorial Scholarship 3/15/2017 A scholarship ranging in amount from $500-$1000 will be awarded to a graduating LFHS student who has illustrated, through their beliefs and actions, a genuine sense of tolerance towards difference, an appreciation of diversity, and an ability to reflect deeply on him or herself to encourage personal growth. Applications are available on Naviance. Jim Gram Memorial Scholarship 3/15/2017 A $500 Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who intends on pursuing a career in education. (Interest in social studies a plus). Lake Bluff Women’s Club Scholarship 3/15/2017 Two $2500 scholarships will be awarded to any graduating LFHS seniors who have participated in extra-curricular activities, community service and/or employment. Lake Forest High School Open Arms Scholarship 3/15/2017 Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who contributed to making LFHS a place of growth, development and belonging for all students, faculty and staff through daily acts of kindness or through larger efforts. Multiple awards Lake Forest Woman’s Club Scholarship 3/15/2017 Scholarships ranging from $1000-$5000 will be awarded to any graduating LFHS seniors and recipients will be chosen based on academic record, extra-curricular activities, service, leadership, financial need and employment. Multiple awards Latin Club Scholarship 3/15/2017 This $500 award will be given to a graduating senior who is currently enrolled in a Latin class and who has been an active member of the Latin Club for at least one year. Mark Jonathan Yates-Knox College Memorial Scholarship 3/15/2017 Awarded to deserving LFHS students who are planning to attend Knox College and who demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is renewable provided the student remains in excellent academic standing. Amount varies Mulani Math and Science Scholarship 3/15/2017 This $2500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to continue their studies in the field of math, science or engineering. Financial need will also be considered. PALS & ITS Scholarship 3/15/2017 The $500 PALS/ITS scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who have participated in any aspect of LFHS Theatre including performance, direction and technical production. Multiple awards Red Cross Club Scholarship 3/15/2017 Scholarships ranging in amount from $500-$1500 will be awarded to graduating seniors who have been active members of the Red Cross club for at least one year and have shown consistency, initiative and exemplify the compassionate values of the American Red Cross. Multiple awards Sara Campbell Memorial Scholarship 3/15/2017 A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who writes independently and enjoys writing that is self-initiated rather than classroom-initiated. This award aims to encourage creative writing and to honor writing that displays uniqueness of ideas, presentation and style as well as independence of spirit. Steven Malin, Jr. Memorial Scholarship 3/15/2017 Three $1250 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who best exemplify what it means to have good character, how their lives have shown that commitment, and how they will specifically apply those principals to their adult life.
