Different types of Maps – 1. Political Map – Shows country borders 2. Climate Map – Shows weather and Temperature 3. Population Map – Shows number of people living in an area 4. Physical Map – Shows land features like mountain regions 5. Resource Map – Shows the natural resources of an area.

Map Key A table of symbols or pictures on a map Intermediate The directions in between the Cardinal Directions Directions Equator The imaginary line of latitude that divides the earth into the Northern and Southern hemispheres. Cardinal The main directions on a compass rose (North, South, East, West) Latitude Imaginary lines on a map that run east from west around the globe Compass Rose A picture on a map that shows the directions.
Longitude Lines on a map that run from the North Pole to the South Pole Continents Seven large masses of land that cover the Earth Hemisphere One half of the earth. The equator divides the earth into the northern and southern hemispheres. The Prime Meridian divides the earth into the eastern and western hemispheres.
