WATG designs Haikou Marriott Hotel in Hainan Province, China DEC 9, 2014 Marriott International announced the �rst hotel under its �agship Marriott Hotels brand in Haikou, Hainan Province. This 386-room business hotel is under a long-term management agreement with the owner, Shenzhen Tiley Real Estate Group. The Haikou Marriott Hotel joins the other three Marriott International properties, adding to the company’s portfolio of four hotels in Hainan province.

Haikou, the provincial capital of Hainan Province in southern China, is known as China’s International Tourism Island. It is home to seascape and historical sites, as well as dozens of newly- developed tourist regions and attractions. Haikou Marriott Hotel is situated on a scenic section of the shoreline, with guestrooms o�ering tropical ocean views and private balconies. The architecture studio WATG drew inspiration from the cultural heritage of China to create the eight buildings within the hotel premises, blending traditional oriental architecture with the natural and scenic surroundings.

A short walking distance to the Hainan International Exhibition Centre, the Marriott Haikou Hotel is 45 minutes away from Haikou Meilan International airport, a 10-minute drive to the railway station, and a 15-minute drive away from downtown .
