Five cities (“Applicant Cities”) applied to become Candidate Cities to host these Games and submitted their Application Files to the IOC by the deadline of 14 March 2014. In the order of drawing of lots carried out by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board on 10 December 2013, these cities were: Krakow (POL) Oslo (NOR) Almaty (KAZ) Lviv (UKR) Beijing (CHN) At the time of presenting this Report to the IOC Executive Board, three Applicant Cities remain in contention to host the 2022 Olympic Winter Games: Oslo, Almaty and Beijing.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2017 Winter Universiade: Gosling, Hinse to serve as captains for Canadian hockey teams January 26, 2017 ALMATY, Kazakhstan (U SPORTS) – U SPORTS national champion Katelyn Gosling and forward Olivier Hinse of the Concordia Stingers have been selected as the respective captains of the Canadian women’s and men’s hockey teams that will compete in the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The hockey tournaments of the 28th biennial Games will begin on January 28. Gold medal games are set on Feb. 6 for the women’s tournament and February 8 for men’s in advance of the Universiade’s Closing Ceremonies on the same day. The women’s ice hockey team secured the silver medal at the Granada 2015 Games, their first championship loss since the discipline’s inception in 2009, while the men seek to add their fifth gold medal after claiming bronze in the previous Games. Canada opens the women’s competition Saturday at 4:30 p.m. local (5:30 a.m. EST) against China while the men begin on Monday at 7:30 p.m. local (6:30 a.m. EST) against USA. Gosling, now graduated from Western University where she led the Western Mustangs to the U SPORTS national championship in 2015, is looking to improve on her previous silver medal in the Winter Universiade in Granada. Now a member of the Calgary Inferno of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL), Gosling was named a U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian in 2013 and Second Team All-Canadian in 2015.

INTERPOL Integrity in Sport Bi-Weekly Bulletin 19 March 2019 - 1 April 2019 INVESTIGATIONS France Net Widens in Tennis Match-Fixing Racket Probe, 137 Players Under Suspicion Seven French tennis players were detained by French police this week under suspicion of throwing games at the behest of a match-fixing mastermind, known to players as “The Maestro.” The Maestro is Armenian Grigor Sargsyan who was arrested by Belgian police late June and remains in custody. He is accused of fronting a massive gambling syndicate that targeted players in the lower echelons of professional tennis and convinced dozens to fix hundreds of games for cash. French sports daily L’Equipe reports that the seven players detained and questioned this week brings the total from the country to 17. While the seven have not been identified, authorities said five had admitted accepting money from the syndicate to throw matches. One said he had fixed over 20, receiving around $34,000 in return. Belgian police, who are leading the investigation, have said they now suspect 137 players from more than half a dozen countries, including the US, after pouring over phone records linked to the Maestro, and have requested assistance from the FBI. The scheme was organized via encrypted messaging and players are believed to have been paid between $570 and $3,400 to throw matches.

The Minister informed that the term of state accreditation of All-Russia sports federations in all kinds of sports, stipulated by the federal law “On physical culture and sport in the Russian Federation” expired on 30 March 2012. “As of 10 April 2012 the state accreditation was carried out in 120 kinds of sports, - said V.Mutko. – All-Russia sports federations in 88 kinds of sports received accreditation for a 4-year term. All- Russia public organisations in 32 kinds of sports were vested with rights and obligations of All- Russia sports federations for various periods of time”.
