Titu Maiorescu - the First Translator of Arthur Schopenhauer’S Works in Europe
Iulian Boldea (Editor) - Literature, Discourses and the Power of Multicultural Dialogue Arhipelag XXI Press, Tîrgu Mureș, 2017. eISBN: 978-606-8624-12-9 TITU MAIORESCU - THE FIRST TRANSLATOR OF ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER’S WORKS IN EUROPE Luiza Marinescu Assoc. Prof., PhD, ”Spiru Haret” University of Bucharest Abstract: Throughout his entire life and work, Titu Maiorescu (1840-1917) could be considered a great thinker, a tutor and a fighter for assertion of values in Romanian culture in one of the most emergent epochs in the history of Romanian literature: 1863-1917. Arthur Schopenhauer came into the world on February 22, 1788 in Danzig [Gdansk, Poland] in a Dutch family implied in international business trade both as a merchant and as a ship-owner. As a translator in Romanian of Arthur Schopenhauerřs work (1788-1866), Titu Maiorescu opened new knowledge tracks to the work of one of the most important thinkers of the time, whose philosophy, with an aesthetic perception of life, more musical and literary in the ability of expression and in the styles of understanding had been widely influential in the 20th century thinkers. Both scholars, Arthur Schopenhauer and Titu Maiorescu stated that the highest purpose of art is to communicate Platonic Ideas. The subject matter and stylistic arrangement of the Aphorisms were significant influences on the work of Titu Maiorescu whose later work exploresŕfollowing Schopenhauerŕ the relation of man to himself, the universe, the state, and women through the art of aphorism. Keywords: Titu Maiorescu, Zizin Cantacuzino, Arthur Schopenhauer, first European translation of Parerga und Paralipomena, aphorisms Among the famous personalities who used to attend the Junimea society (1863) and the review Convorbiri literare / Literary Discussions Ŕ translated title (1867) we first remind the five founders: Titu Maiorescu, Vasile Pogor, P. -

Shakespeare's Audience in 19-Th Century Romania
Shakespeare’s Audience in 19-th Century Romania Marina CAP-BUN Trying to prove that “Shakespeare is the center of the embryo of a world canon, not Western or Eastern and less and less Eurocentric”, Harold Bloom noticed that “there is a substance in Shakespeare’s work that prevails and that has proved multicultural, so universally apprehended in all languages as to have established a pragmatic multiculturalism around the globe, one that already far surpasses our politicized fumblings toward such an ideal.”1 So, the British dramatist had invented the attitude long before our theorists coined the concept. That is probably why, after a considerable revival of Shakespeare’s plays round about the middle of the eighteenth century, the beginning of the nineteenth century finds the English dramatist in the consolidated position of an ultimate landmark of literature at a pan-European level. Many times the density of his dramatic works was opposed to the highly schematic neoclassic plays to indicate that the literary movement inaugurated by Boileau’s Art Poétique (1674) was in decline. European literature was moving on to major changes in cultural doctrines. In 1827, writing his Preface to Cromwell (a real manifesto of French Romantic theatre), Victor Hugo commented upon the surpassing literary excellence of the Shakespearian drama as opposed to the classic plays, following the rules of Aristotle. Later on, the musician Richard Wagner was also talking about the technical superiority of the Shakespearian tragedy, which eliminated the chorus from the Greek theatre and operated instead with well defined secondary characters and plots (Opera and Drama, 1852). -

Journal of Law and Administrative Sciences No. 4/2015 – History of the Legal Profession in Romania – – moments, people and personalities – - I - Iosif F R I E D M A N N – N I C O L E S C U [1] PhD. in Law Abstract: Short History of legal profession in Romania presents several personalities of national legal culture. Keywords: Lawyer, Palace of Justice, Tribunal. PROLEGOMENA On December 6, 2014 we celebrated 150 years since the first modern regulation of the legal profession in the Dacian Romanian perimeter. The Law no. 1709 of December 4, 1864 for the establishment of the Professional Body of Lawyers, promulgated by Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, has set a new face for one of the oldest professions in the world: THE LAWYER'S PROFESSION. The Law no. 1709 of December 4, 1864 for the establishment of the Professional Body of Lawyers was at that moment one of the most modern pieces of legislation for the organization of the lawyer's profession in the world. Continuing the modernization of the LAWYER's profession, the Law no. 51 of June 7, 1995 on the organization and exercise of the Lawyer's profession was passed 20 years ago. These two events intersect with another international milestone of the Lawyer's profession: on December 10, 2014 the professional unions and the Bar Associations of Europe celebrated for the first time the European Lawyers Day, a moment of special significance for this profession, as it created a new vision of the Lawyer's profession. The decision to celebrate the European Lawyers Day, which will be celebrated annually, was made by the Council of Bar Associations and Law Societies of Europe, in order to stimulate the values of the legal profession and the role of lawyers in promoting the rule of law. -
Junimea” – the Inner Circles of Modernity
Iulian BOLDEA, Cornel Sigmirean (Editors), DEBATING GLOBALIZATION. Identity, Nation and Dialogue Section: History, Political Sciences, International Relations ”JUNIMEA” – THE INNER CIRCLES OF MODERNITY Adrian Petre Popescu Assoc. Prof., PhD,”Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu Abstract:The cliché “Junimea” translates in popular lectures, in press and literature, by the introduction of esthetical criteria in the establishment of cultural hierarchies. In addition, the society “Junimea”, beyond the perception of “its standard image” is unveiled in study and in its structural-freemasonic formula. It is “a pressure group; an intermediary between society, politics and culture; a micro-universe closed within itself and a small autonomous world”, which is distinguished by two major evolutionary stages. The doctrine of Junimea, based on the opposition between political liberalism of former revolutionaries of 1848, between the group from Iasi and the Latinist current of Transylvanian philologists. To this vitality we would also add the attachment to mental schemes, typical to freemasonic Cabala, attached to the illuminist idea of progress, through which “Junimea” remains an endo- antagonistic group. Keyword:Junimea, communication, esthetical principles, liberalism. endo-antagonistic group, masonic 1. -

Modelling Factors in Constructing Female Characters in 19 Century
RECENT ADVANCES in APPLIED MATHEMATICS Modelling Factors in Constructing Female Characters in 19th Century Fiction RAMONA MIHĂILĂ Spiru Haret University Ion Ghica 13, Bucharest, ROMÂNIA [email protected] www.spiruharet.ro Abstract: - Hardly any short story or a novel fails to represent the woman under various facets: main role, secondary, in absentia or barely mentioned. Her presence triggers the ‘mise en scene’ of a character type that is subjected to the feminine gender. Thus, each feature – highlighted as a result of certain factlike predicaments – exposes a hypostatization.
