Palácio de "Stunning Royal Palace"

Overlooking the tranquil surface of Lake Malar, the Drottningholm Palace is Stockholm's crown jewel, the royal residence of the Swedish regal family that has been preserved for more than three centuries. Originally built as a grand, renaissance-style stone palace by John III of for his Queen, the palace was purchased by Queen Dowager Regent Hedwig by Pudelek Eleonora in 1661. The stone structure was ravaged by fire by the end of the same year, spurring the need for a re-construction. It was then that work on the palace began, and a prototype designed by architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder was selected. The walls of this palace are steeped in an aura of splendor, one that extends to its main buildings, the Chinese Pavilion and the Drottningholms Palace Theater, as well. The Baroque and English gardens that unfold before the palace's stately facade evoke awe, and depict the stunning elements added by Gustav III of Sweden. The Drottningholm Palace is designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
