The Ultimate Experience

Join Otterbein Alumni for this 5-day/4-night adventure guaranteed to include all the tastes, sounds, and sights for which the “Big Easy” is famous. Some of our visits will include the “Court of Two Sisters”, “New Orleans School of Cooking” and a “Steamboat Dinner Cruise”. After our three night New Orleans experience, then our fourth night we enjoy a magnificent 1850's sugarcane estate.

Day 1- Mon, Oct 7, 2019, Hampton Inn & Suites, New Orleans, LA

After your morning flight to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, enjoy an overview of New Orleans during an afternoon city tour. Then check in to the Hampton Inn & Suites next to the where quaint New Orleans restaurants and specialty shops line the . Enjoy New Orleans tourist attractions including Jackson Square, Bourbon , the , and the Riverwalk, where you can watch the steamboats along the . In fact, this evening you will be dining aboard the steamboat “”, enjoying views of the city from the Mississippi River. (Dinner)

Day 2 - Tues, Oct 8, 2019, Hampton Inn & Suites, New Orleans, LA

Begin your day by spending as much time as you’d like at the National World War II Museum, New Orleans #1 attraction. You will take in a cinematic experience on the 120 feet wide screen with 4-D, a technique that engages all the audience’s senses with digital effects and life sized animation. During the afternoon you have time to explore the French Quarter, often called the Crown Jewel of New

Orleans. The French Quarter is one of NOLA's most historic neighborhoods where you'll find plenty of new mixed in with the old. There’s a reimagined French Market, modern boutiques and artisan cocktails mixed in with beloved antique stores and old restaurants.

Later afternoon we indulge in a Private Demonstration Class & Dinner at New Orleans School of Cooking! Sit back and watch the chefs prepare a customized dinner just for our group in the Molasses Room, sprinkled with history, tall tales and recipe tips. (Breakfast, & Dinner)

Day 3 - Wed, Oct 19, 2019, Hampton Inn & Suites, New Orleans, LA

Today begins with a guided walking tour of New Orleans’ Garden District and a tour of one of their amazing homes. After you’ve admired the architectural gems of this beautiful uptown neighborhood, you will be treated to a wonderful lunch at Commander’s Palace. Since 1880, Commander's Palace has been a New Orleans landmark known for the award-winning quality of its food and many commodious dining rooms. Finish off your day by visiting Harrah’s casino, enjoying ’s night life or shopping New Orleans style. (Breakfast & Lunch)

Day 4 - Thur, Oct 10, 2018, Houmas Plantation & Resort, Darrow, LA

This morning brings us a scrumptious brunch at the renowned Court of Two Sisters. The Court of Two Sisters is more than a restaurant – it’s a legend. Enjoy luscious Creole and Cajun cuisine while listening to authentic . Passing through the Charm Gates you may make a wish in the Devil’s Wishing Well and hear the story of Emma and Bertha, the two sisters who ran a notions shop here once upon a time in the French Quarter.

A visit to the Big Easy is not complete without a Carriage Ride and Cemetery tour which will follow brunch.

The next portion of our Cajun Country Experience is truly a step back in time! We leave the city for a Plantation experience and a Swamp Tour. Before our plantation visit we will ride with the alligators on our swampland tour! Here we will journey by boat, Cajun- style, for a back country waterways experience. Then it’s off to Houmas House Plantation for a tour, dinner and a night stay. In its heyday this was the largest plantation in the U.S. boasting 300,000 acres. We will be greeted by our docents in their antebellum regalia. (Breakfast and dinner)

Day 5 - Friday, October 11, 2019 After enjoying breakfast and spending a little time at this Southern Plantation we depart for the airport with great memories of the deep south! (Breakfast)
