(2013; Die Flechten Deutschlands) analysiert, wobei Naturräume die geografische Basis für die Analysen bilden. Bewertet werden Artendiversität, Exklusivität des Arteninventars, substratspezifische Eigenschaften (Substratbindung, pH-Werte und Nährstoffgehalt/Eutrophierung der besiedelten Substrate) und klimatische Faktoren (Licht, Luftfeuchte). Die artenreichs- ten Naturräume sind nach den Bayerischen Alpen, dem Schwarzwald und Odenwald-Spessart die ebenfalls sehr nieder- schlagsreichen Naturräume Eifel, Weserbergland, Harz, Fränkische Alb, Sauerland und Bayerisch-Böhmischer Wald. Die artenärmsten Landschaften liegen überwiegend im südlichen Teil des Nordostdeutschen Tieflandes.     Quaternary Science Journal GEOZON SCIENCE MEDIA Volume 60 / Number 1 / 2011 / 27–46 / DOI 10.3285/eg.60.1.02 ISSN 0424-7116 E&G www.quaternary-science.net Spatial analysis of loess and loess-like sediments in the Weser- Aller catchment (Lower Saxony and Northern Hesse, NW Germany) Bianca Wagner Abstract: A spatial compilation and visualization of loess parameters was carried out for the Pleistocene loess and loess-like sediments in the Weser-Aller catchment (southern Lower Saxony and northern Hesse, NW Germany), one of the loess regions of Central Europe. As far as available, data about main loess characteristics like thickness, granulometry and stratigraphy were combined for the first time with spatial information extracted from maps. Data storage and analysis in a geographical information system (GIS) permitted creation of large-scale thematic loess maps. The loess thickness map displays an increase of the thickness in valleys and basins and from north to south. The granulometry map presents main granulometrical facies types of the loess cover. Furthermore, several loess locations with unusual thickness were identified and their special geological and geomorphological conditions are discussed. In summary, the loessic sediments in the northern part of the study area are of Upper Weichselian age, whereas in the south- ern upland regions incomplete or detailed Weichselian loess sequences were identified. In conclusion, highly detailed maps of regional loess-property patterns can be created even if only heterogeneous historically published data are taken into account. Als mögliche Erklärungen für die derzeit beobachtete Ausbreitung der Art werden ein vermehrter Sameneinflug aus angrenzenden Regionen sowie eine höhere Etablierungs- wahrscheinlichkeit aufgrund klimatischer Veränderungen diskutiert. Summary: We describe five new populations of Ophrys apifera in the area of the Teutoburg forest and in the northern parts of the Weser Uplands (Germany). It will be held May 30th - June 3rd, 2011 at the Schlosshotel Münchhausen (http://www.schlosshotel- muenchhausen.com). The hotel is located in the middle of a unique park landscape next to Hameln in the Weser Uplands near Hannover, Germany. The conference will be held at the Schlosshotel Münchhausen near Hannover, Germany. The Conference serves as an international forum for researchers to discuss the latest ideas, developments and applications of laser spectroscopy. Wednesday afternoon will be held free for informal discussions and recreational activities. Written contributions from the invited speakers will be compiled and published in the Conference Proceedings, which will be distributed to all attendees. If electronic copies of the posters are provided to the organizers by the conclusion of the conference, they will be made available on a DVD for all attendees (depending on author’s agreement). The Organizing Committee solicits contributions for the poster sessions, which should be in the form of a concise summary of 300 words or less for consideration.

We report on an introduced population of Italian Cave Salamander (Speleomantes italicus) that has been living in an abandoned quarry of the Solling area, Germany, within a beech forest near the town of Holzminden, since at least 2013. DNA sequences of the mitochondrial genes for 16S rRNA and cytochrome b confirm these specimens being genetically assignable to S. italicus, without genetic differentiation from populations of the native range. Nine individuals studied for infection by chytrid fungi by quantitative PCR tested all negative, both for Bd and Bsal. Up to 18 specimens per night were seen, and small juveniles (35 mm total length) observed from 2015–2020, suggesting continued successful reproduction. To understand the origin of this introduced Speleomantes population, it is relevant to consider the existence of an animal trade business in Holzminden until 1977 that imported, among many other amphibians and reptiles, Speleomantes italicus as early as 1914; furthermore, the same family business also exploited up to three quarries from 1946 to 1956 in the same area, although we could not verify whether this includes the one currently populated by Speleomantes. Although no proof exists that this business is related to the introduction, it is plausible to hypothesise that the introduced cave salamanders have persisted at the site for decades, maybe even for more than a century, given that the quarry populated by these salamanders exists since at least 1896 based on historical maps.
