FIRST EDITION The Ontario Guzzi Riders 1 2016 News Express First Edition Bringing a new publication to life is never easy. Fitting ONTARIO GUZZI RIDERS in a new environment, meeting the expectations of the www.ontarioguzziriders.com readers is hard because rarely a newsletter editor gets https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/ any feedback from club members. groups/ontarioguzzi/info That game of cat and mouse, finding out what will work and won’t, is all part of the job. And when finally PRESIDENT you meet your readers at a motorcycle event, the Phil Tunbridge reward could be quite an experience. 705-722-3312 [email protected] I come from a different background, but my passion is the same. • Kevin Thompson Talks About the 850Ss / Monza
Kevin Thompson Talks About the 850ss / Monza A brief history of events with Agusta Concessionaires GB operations circa late 1970s. The Bate family owners of Haymil motors Slough were the original importers of Saab cars to the UK and after Saab set up its own import operations the Bate's struck a deal with Agusta to import there motorcycles into the UK. The company Agusta Concessionaires GB was set up and run by Peter Bate and other's from there car retail operations in Farnham Common (near Slough). On a visit there I realised they were all car people and could not ride a motorcycle, no one there even had a licence to do so. Peter offered me a job there and then as I was a motorcycle mechanic with a licence. In the first week we drove down to the factory in Italy where I was updated with some factory training on these motorcycles. From there on I made visits every 2 months to liaise with the factory and either pick up bikes and or spares. We imported a total of 99 4 cylinder America model machines into the UK in the late 1970s. Some were spoked wheels, Scarab brakes, 789cc engine but with standard American market exhaust. (of note we did sell one of these models to Bill Lomas who was kind enough to give me a signed photo of himself on a 500cc Moto Guzzi V8 in the 1956 German GP, he seemed to think it never ever ran on 8 cylinders.) The spoked wheel model America sold for 3187 pounds.

The narrative has several sub texts. One is an engineer's life-long love of innovation and design and development, and the other is a great partnership with my best mate Margaret. CLASSIC BIKE ELDEE RACE BIKES the legend continues Words: Chris Swallow | Action photography: XXX | Statics and working photography: XXXX Every now and then you see a project that takes on a life of its own. The story of Eldee is part of NZ’s classic racing folklore. The twist is that a dedicated bunch of enthusiasts, including our classic man, Chris Swallow, have serious plans affot – but they might need a wee bit of help… ot so eagle-eyed observers visiting the Honda museum in Motegi, Japan will notice Nsoon after paying their yen there is a racing motorcycle devoid of the familiar winged Honda vector. The emblem is distinctly Italian and proudly informs that you are ogling over an ‘FB MÒNDIAL’: made 1957, Milan, by the Counts Bosselli (‘FB’ being Fratelli Boselli or Bosselli Brothers) and their firm Mondial. It is a gear driven double overhead cam 1 2 3 (DOHC) 125cc Single Cylinder Grand Prix motorcycle, bought by one Soichiro Honda, direct from Count Boselli shortly after it won the 1957 World Title. 1957 was ELDEE the year the Italians (with the exception of MV Agusta) all pulled out of Grand Prix racing due to the cost of it all; prior to this they had been leading exponents of high THE LEGEND CONTINUES revs, high performance and high reliability; characteristics clearly endearing to Mr. Honda and his fledgling motor company. 66 BIKE RIDERRIDER MAGAZINE MAY 2014 WWW.BRM.CO.NZ PB CLASSIC BIKE ELDEE RACE BIKES Words: Chris Swallow | Photos: Phil Purdue @ HighSide Photography, Phil Price, Shaun G Waugh and The VRNZ collection Every now and then you see a project that takes on a life of its own.

  • Erinnerungen an Eine Kurze Aber Strahlende Rennfahrerkarriere, Teil
59 Das internationale Solitude Rennen in Stuttgart am 21. Juni 1953 4.
