Druhy čeledi Empetrichthyidae byly zařazeny v souladu s ESCHMEYEREM (2009) do če- ledi Goodeidae. Jaroslavu Hofmannovi. Naše upřímné poděkování patří Vladimíru Vyskočilovi z DTP KORŠACH za pečivé provedení počítačových úprav celého textu. Doufáme, že i tento díl názvosloví bude široce využíván stejně jako díly předcházející nejen odbornou veřejností, ale i dalšími zájemci o světovou rybí faunu. autoři 7 RRyby_6.inddyby_6.indd 7 116.3.20106.3.2010 114:09:344:09:34 RRyby_6.inddyby_6.indd 8 116.3.20106.3.2010 114:09:344:09:34 CÍPALOVÉ – MUGILIFORMES Řád: CÍPALOVÉ – MUGILIFORMES (1 čeleď, 72 druhů) Čeleď: cípalovití (Mugilidae) (75 druhů) Agonostomus catalai Pellegrin, 1932 cípal východoafrický Agonostomus monticola (Bancroft, 1834) cípal sladkovodní Agonostomus telfairii Bennett, 1832 cípal Telfairův Aldrichetta forsteri (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal Forsterův Cestraeus goldiei (Macleay, 1883) cípal novoguinejský Cestraeus oxyrhyncus Valenciennes, 1836 cípal ostrorypý Cestraeus plicatilis Valenciennes, 1836 cípal řasnatý Crenimugil crenilabis (Forsskål, 1775) cípal tlustopyský Crenimugil heterocheilos (Bleeker, 1855) cípal indopacifický Chaenomugil proboscideus (Günther, 1861) cípal dlouhorypý Chelon bispinosus (Bowdich, 1825) cípal dvoutrnný Chelon labrosus (Risso, 1827) cípal pyskatý Chelon macrolepis (Smith, 1846) cípal velkošupinný Joturus pichardi Poey, 1860 cípal Pichardův Liza abu (Heckel, 1843) cípal abu Liza affinis (Günther, 1861) cípal japonský Liza alata (Steindachner, 1892) cípal diamantový Liza argentea (Quoy & Gaimard, 1825) cípal stříbřitý (= Liza ramsayi) cípal australský Liza aurata (Risso, 1810) cípal zlatý (= Mugil auratus) cípal zlatolesklý Liza carinata (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal kýlnatý cípal kýlovitý Liza dumerili (Steindachner, 1870) cípal Dumerilův Liza falcipinnis (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal srpoploutvý Liza grandisquamis (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal lagunový Liza haematocheila (Temminck & Schlegel, 1845) cípal východní (= Mugil soiuy) Liza klunzingeri (Day, 1888) cípal Klunzingerův Liza luciae (Penrith & Penrith, 1967) cípal kwazulský Liza mandapamensis Thomson, 1997 cípal indický Liza melinoptera (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal medoploutvý Liza parsia (Hamilton, 1822) cípal zlatoskvrnný Liza persicus (Senou, Randall & Okiyama, 1995) cípal perský Liza planiceps (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal plochohlavý (= Liza tade) Liza ramada (Risso, 1810) cípal evropský cípal tenkoretý Liza richardsonii (Smith, 1846) cípal Richardsonův Liza saliens (Risso, 1810) cípal šedý Liza subviridis (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal zelenohřbetý Liza tricuspidens (Smith, 1935) cípal chutný Liza vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1825) cípal širokoocasý cípal mangrovový Moolgarda pedaraki (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal Pedarakův Moolgarda perusii (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal ploutvatý Mugil bananensis (Pellegrin, 1927) cípal zairský Mugil broussonnetii Valenciennes, 1836 cípal Broussonetův Mugil capurrii (Perugia, 1892) cípal úzkohlavý Mugil cephalus Linnaeus, 1758 cípal hlavatý (= Mugil rammelsbergii) Mugil curema Valenciennes, 1836 cípal curema cípal bělavý Mugil curvidens Valenciennes, 1836 cípal malý Mugil hospes Jordan & Culver, 1895 cípal americký Mugil incilis Hancock, 1830 cípal lahodný Mugil liza Valenciennes, 1836 cípal karibský 9 RRyby_6.inddyby_6.indd 9 116.3.20106.3.2010 114:09:344:09:34 GAVÚNI – ATHERINIFORMES Mugil platanus Günther, 1880 cípal argentinský Mugil rubrioculus Harrison, Nirchio, Oliveira, Ron & Gaviria, 2007 cípal červenooký Mugil setosus Gilbert, 1892 cípal štětinatý Mugil trichodon Poey, 1875 cípal středoamerický Myxus capensis (Valenciennes, 1836) cípal kapský Myxus elongatus Günther, 1861 cípal protáhlý Myxus multidens (Ogilby, 1888) cípal mnohozubý Neomyxus leuciscus (Günther, 1872) cípal šedohřbetý Oedalechilus labeo

Collette National Marine Fisheries Service Systematics Laboratory National Museum of Natural History, Washington, DC 20560–0153, U.S.A. email: [email protected] Needlefishes are a relatively small family of beloniform fishes (Rosen and Parenti 1981 [ref. 5538], Collette et al. 1984 [ref. 11422]) that differ from other members of the order in having both the upper and the lower jaws extended into long beaks filled with sharp teeth (except in the neotenic Belonion), the third pair of upper pharyngeal bones separate, scales on the body relatively small, and no finlets following the dorsal and anal fins. The nostrils lie in a pit anterior to the eyes. There are no spines in the fins. The dorsal fin, with 11–43 rays, and anal fin, with 12–39 rays, are posterior in position; the pelvic fins, with 6 soft rays, are located in an abdominal position; and the pectoral fins are short, with 5–15 rays. The lateral line runs down from the pectoral fin origin and then along the ventral margin of the body. The scales are small, cycloid, and easily detached. Precaudal vertebrae number 33–65, caudal vertebrae 19–41, and total verte- brae 52–97. Some freshwater needlefishes reach only 6 or 7 cm (2.5 or 2.75 in) in total length while some marine species may attain 2 m (6.5 ft).

    12 Aquatic biodiversity hotspots in Wallacea: the species fl ocks in the ancient lakes of Sulawesi, Indonesia T h o m a s v o n R i n t e l e n , K r i s t i n a v o n R i n t e l e n , M a t t h i a s G l a u b r e c h t , C h r i s t o p h D . S c h u b a r t a n d F a b i a n H e r d e r 12.1 Introduction Some of the world’s most spectacular species radiations or species fl ocks are found in so-called ‘ancient lakes’. Th ese are long-lived lakes that have existed for 100 000 years (Gorthner et al. 1994 , but see also Albrecht and Wilke 2008 ) or more (e.g. Lake Tanganyika and Lake Baikal). Ancient lakes are justifi ably regarded as hotspots of diversifi cation (e.g. Martens 1997 , Rossiter and Kawanabe 2000 ), even if not all ancient lake species fl ocks match the diversity of the super-fl ock of East African cichlids (e.g. Kornfi eld and Smith 2000 , Kocher 2004 ). Studies on the evo- lution of ancient lake organisms have continuously resulted in important insights into general patterns of speciation and radiation (e.g. Streelman and Danley 2003 ) ever since the seminal review of Brooks ( 1950 ). During the last decade, smaller ancient lakes (c. <1 000 km 2 ), which are generally less well investigated, have attracted increasing attention.

  • Adaptive Sympatric Speciation of Polychromatic “Roundfin” Sailfin Silverside Fish in Lake Matano (Sulawesi)
ORIGINAL ARTICLE doi:10.1111/j.1558-5646.2008.00447.x ADAPTIVE SYMPATRIC SPECIATION OF POLYCHROMATIC “ROUNDFIN” SAILFIN SILVERSIDE FISH IN LAKE MATANO (SULAWESI) Fabian Herder,1,2,3 Jobst Pfaender,1,4 and Ulrich K. Theory suggests that different factors can lead to speciation in full geographical contact, including selection and nonrandom mating. Strict criteria have been established for assessing sympatric speciation, which have been met in only a very few cases. Here, we investigate differen- tiation among sympatric morphospecies and color morphs of “roundfin” sailfin silversides (Telmatherinidae), small freshwater fish endemic to ancient Lake Matano in Central Sulawesi (Indonesia). Morphospecies are distinct according to body shape (geometric morphometrics), population structure (population-level amplified fragment length polymorphism [AFLP] markers), ecology, and mating behavior (habitat transects, stomach contents). Explorative genome scans based on AFLPs indicate that divergent selection affects only 1.3–4.2% of the analyzed loci, suggesting an early stage of speciation. Transect data demonstrate strong assortative mating and adaptive niche differentiation. However, we find no restrictions in gene flow among the conspicuous male color morphs. In summary, our data are consistent with a sympatric mode of divergence among three morphospecies under conditions effectively ruling out allopatric scenarios.

This endemic fish species from Sulawesi is one of the Indonesian export commodity since more than 30 years ago. All of the export specimens come from the wild habitat. The anxiousness of the extinction of this species stated in the redlist of IUCN since 1994. Two field work of Maros Karst Project conducted in 2006, 2007 and an international expedition in 2007 showed the decreasing population of this species. The results of the three field trips showed the difficulties to get M. ladigesi in the streams. Taxonomical status and classification, coloration, sex dimorphism and distribution discussed. Molecular studies so far have been fragmentary and based on a Revised 21 February 2015 small number taxa and loci. In this study, we provide a new phylogenetic hypothesis based on sequence Accepted 2 March 2015 data collected for eight molecular markers for a representative sample of 103 atheriniform species, cover- Available online 10 March 2015 ing 2/3 of the genera in this order. The phylogeny is calibrated with six carefully chosen fossil taxa to pro- vide an explicit timeframe for the diversification of this group. Our results support the subdivision of Keywords: Atheriniformes into two suborders (Atherinopsoidei and Atherinoidei), the nesting of Notocheirinae Silverside fishes within Atherinopsidae, and the monophyly of tribe Menidiini, among others. We propose taxonomic Marine to freshwater transitions Marine dispersal changes for Atherinopsoidei, but a few weakly supported nodes in our phylogeny suggests that further Molecular markers study is necessary to support a revised taxonomy of Atherinoidei.
