RACELOGIC acquire new 700m2 premises RACELOGIC are delighted to announce the acquisition of a brand new home! Since the move to the current address in 2001, the company has experienced substantial growth and has outgrown the present building. We are not moving too far though, as the new premises are just half a mile away. This consists of two brand new buildings with construction on the internal layout imminent. It is expected that this will be completed by July 2008, with the building ready to occupy in August 2008. This will give us nearly three times the space we currently have, with scope to expand further in the future. 2007 VBOX Dealer meeting 22nd –24th October 2007 saw 21 attendees from as far away as Australia, Brazil, China, Korea, Malaysia, India and many European countries descend on RACELOGIC for the annual VBOX dealer meeting. This was held jointly in Buckingham and at and provided VBOX dealers with ideal training opportunities, the chance to discuss new products and applications and also the chance to network with dealers from other areas. Training on the new 3-axis slip angle sensor, the VB20SL3, drew significant interest with many dealers commenting on the wealth of applications this unit could satisfy, especially given the low price in comparison to current solutions.

BBC’s and VBOX at 24 From 7th – 9th September, popular BBC TV motoring program Top Gear were competing in the annual BRITCAR 24 at Silverstone circuit, using a BMW 330DTi Sport running on their own organically grown bio-diesel. Top Gear are established VBOX users and once again used the system to record driver and vehicle performance.RACELOGIC staff were on hand to assist , , and regular mystery driver “” throughout this event, highlights of which are expected to be seen on BBC TV in the autumn. VBOX in a not-so-sticky situation With the cold climate in Norway, driving conditions can often be hazardous. Snow and ice on the roads has previously facilitated the need to fasten awkward chains over vehicle wheels to avoid slipping on these surfaces. Norwegian company Autosock decided to implement an easier solution to this problem and developed a “sock” made of textile fibres that can quickly and easily be attached to the vehicles driving wheels. Development of the Autosock system required a data acquisition system that was reliable on all road surfaces, including snow and ice. The Norwegian distributor Scanditest Norge AS worked on this requirement with Autosock and as a result Autosock are now the proud owners of 3 VBOX III test systems. Many thanks to Jostein Kyte of Scanditest Norge AS for his work on this project. Mining Applications – VBOX Mining Version Peru is not known for its automotive industry, but does have a very large mining industry, commonly using haulage with payloads of 360 Tonnes. These trucks use “giant tyres” which are very expensive and place great demand on natural resources for their production. Another problem with these tyres is that their service life is often cut short due to the tough conditions in which they are used. RACELOGIC have been working with Mitsui & Co Ltd- company PTS S.A., in Peru to develop an application which can help reduce the strain placed upon these giant tyres. The system uses a 20Hz VBOX II SX to monitor various tyre and vehicle conditions (temperature, distortion, velocity, etc), to determine the optimum drive lines and speeds around the mine site. This helps to preserve the life of the tyres resulting in very significant savings in both money and materials. VBOX and Zen Microsystems stand the heat 28th-29th August 2007 saw the VBOX II SX10 used as the primary timing and distance measuring device on two Nissan Altimas competing in the Auto Middle East 24 hour endurance event at the Dubai Autodrome. Both a 3.5-litre V6 and 2.5-litre 2008 models were driven continuously throughout the event, setting eleven new records for time and distance. Even with Dubai temperatures reaching up to 50°C, the two VBOX systems worked without incident for the full 24 hours. Many thanks to Ashish Samant of Zen Microsystems Ltd (India) for supporting this event - For more information, please visit: www.racelogic.co.uk/?show=VBOX-Misc-News or http://www.automiddleeast.com/Members/nabeelferzan/record-breaker Q1 Display System The recently introduced Q1 DISPLAY SYSTEM is a tablet PC containing an Intel Celeron 900MHz processor with touch screen 7” LCD display. The unit is supplied pre-loaded with a fully functional tablet version of VBOX TOOLS software to maximise screen space. The Q1 DISPLAY can be affixed to the vehicle windscreen via a mounting cradle and allows the user to view and analyse data instantly from their VBOX. The Q1 can also be interfaced with the new VBOX BLUETOOTH MODULE, maximising flexibility of the test set-up.
