Abstract

The project - proposal

The Italian company is the owner of an area in (PD), Italy. Limena is a municipality in the Region of in the north-west quadrant of , a city which borders, near an exit of the A4 Milan-, 11 km from the center of Padua, 35 km from the center of Vicenza , 44 km from the center of Venice. The area is in the historical center of the City of Limena, in a context urbanized residential and office, near the church and the Town Hall, in functional connection with the flourishing production area, served by pedestrian and vehicular traffic. This area of 27,831 sqm, is affected by a project of recovery and rehabilitation that involves a gross volume of approximately 50,000 cbm, of which about 12,500 cbm in renovations. The project is located on an abandoned area for decades. The set of existing buildings are developed in the early 1800s as a farm, later becoming a factory after 1960. After 1970 the area has lost all its functions, including that of residence. Over the years, was born here an urban void, while the new buildings have denied any relationship with the surroundings. The urban plan reconnect the area with the surrounding urban fabric, while creating a system of public spaces linked together through the old route of farm wagons, the backbone of pedestrian. The design of the new buildings is respectful of historic lay-out, and that respect is reflected in the use of plant engineering techniques, aimed at renewable energy sources use, reducing the maximum visual impacts, ie geothermal and solar technology systems, particularly integrated into buildings. Even the construction technology of the new buildings will be oriented to the use of raw materials with low content of primary energy, easy to find, which reduces heat loss, which limit the use of non-renewable resources. For private residences and public lighting is used LED technology, is being implemented by the recovery of rainwater for domestic use to conserve water resources are set up charging points for electric vehicles powered by photovoltaic shelters.. This project transforms a relic of the Past in a Smart City of the Future.
