Nagroda Im. H. Ch. Andersena Nagroda
Nagroda im. H. Ch. Andersena Nagroda za wybitne zasługi dla literatury dla dzieci i młodzieży Co dwa lata IBBY przyznaje autorom i ilustratorom książek dziecięcych swoje najwyższe wyróżnienie – Nagrodę im. Hansa Christiana Andersena. -

Andrzej Wajda's a Generartion and Man of Marble
Andrzej Wajda’s A Generartion and Man of Marble By Fabian Schuppert Spring 2006 Issue of KINEMA ANDRZEJ WAJDA’S A GENERATION AND MAN OF MARBLE FROM A POLITICAL PERSPECTIVE ’The cinema does not exist in a sublime state of innocence, untouched by the world; it also has a political content, whether conscious or unconscious, hidden or overt.’(1) Andrew Sarris A PIECE of art is always produced in concrete socio-political circumstances; it is a social product. Undoubt- edly art does not come into being or exists in an absolute, free state of self-sufficiency. But to postulate that art is at the same time always political, is quite a different affair. What exactly does it imply to saythat art, or as in the case of Andrew Sarris and this article, that film is political? This paper is going to inquire into the political role, function and use of film. The aim of this paper is to give a short overview on selected theories on the political nature of art and film, before moving on and applying these concepts to two films by Andrzej Wajda. This paper will analyse Wajda’s A Generation (Pokolenie, 1955) and Man of Marble (Człowiek z marmuru, 1976) from a political point of view. Both films were produced in Poland during the times of the communist regime, but under quite different conditions, and with quite different objectives. This article will not only deal with film analysis and interpretation but also critically look at the circumstance of production, which influenced the film: the concrete socio-political situation, including state pressure and censorship. -
HARD-TO-REMEMBER NAMES THAN a RUSSIAN NOVEL” — Special Names, Their Significance, Types, and Relative Hierarchy in J
UNIVERSITY OF JYVÄSKYLÄ “MORE HARD-TO-REMEMBER NAMES THAN A RUSSIAN NOVEL” — Special Names, Their Significance, Types, and Relative Hierarchy in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Quenta Silmarillion A Pro Gradu Thesis in English by Tommi Ojanperä Department of Languages 2007 HUMANISTINEN TIEDEKUNTA KIELTEN LAITOS Tommi Ojanperä “MORE HARD-TO-REMEMBER NAMES THAN A RUSSIAN NOVEL” Special Names, Their Significance, Types, and Relative Hierarchy in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Quenta Silmarillion Pro gradu –tutkielma Englannin kieli Toukokuu 2007 108 sivua + 1 liite Tutkielman lähtökohtana on perusteltu väite, että J. R. R. Tolkienin romaanissa Quenta Silmarillion (1977) erikoisella ja poikkeuksellisen laajalla nimistöllä on erityisen merkittävä asema ja että tätä nimistöä tutkimalla ja analysoimalla monipuolisesti, sekä kvalitatiivisesti että kvantitatiivisesti, voidaan saavuttaa merkittäviä tuloksia koskien romaania kokonaisuutena. Tutkimuksen ensisijainen tarkoitus on tutkia nimistöä etenkin kvantitatiivisesti ja nimien frekvenssejä tutkien rakentaa luokittelu eri nimien merkittävyydestä. Nimistöä käsitellään tästä näkökulmasta ennen kaikkea kokonaisuutena, mutta tarkempaa huomiota kiinnitetään etenkin poikkeuksellisen usein esiintyviin nimiin. Nimistön kvantitatiivisen tutkimuksen perusteella pyritään selvittämään, mitkä romaanin henkilöt, tapahtumapaikat ja ryhmät vaikuttavat olevan merkitykseltään erityisen suuria. Tässä suhteessa romaania tutkitaan toisaalta kokonaisuutena, toisaalta 24 luvusta koostuvana rakenteena. Lisäksi pohditaan mm. laajan nimistön tuottamia -

Vampires in Transition
VAMPIRES IN TRANSITION Daniel Berjano Rodríguez Utrecht University and Universidad de Granada GEMMA 2016-2018 Supervisor: Adelina Sánchez Espinosa (UGR) Second supervisor: Gianmaria Colpani (UU) July 2018 VAMPIRES IN TRANSITION ABSTRACT In Vampires in Transition, I develop semiotic analyses of two key films of the Spanish transition: Elisa, vida mia (Carlos Saura, 1977) and Arrebato (Ivan Zulueta, 1980). Building off Gilles Deleuze's semiotics (1986, 1989) and Teresa de Lauretis' film theory (1984, 1987) – both drawing on Charles Sanders Peirce (1930-35/1958), I have designed three inter-connected concepts in relation to the vampire figuration: 'vampire-images', 'camera-vampires', and the 'phoenix'. One one hand, these concepts aim to approach the films under study through decolonial and trans-feminist perspectives. On the other hand, they intend to draw meaningful insights on Hispanic film studies in relation to what Donna Haraway calls “informatics of domination” (1991c). Departing from one of the peripheral meanings of the vampire – a male sexual predator, the vampire has been designed as a perverse figuration of structural violence in cybernetic capitalism which could help us understand the relationship between massive addictive habits of digital machines and western patriarchal agendas, as Wendy Huy Kyong Chun studies (2016). Drawing on Teresa de Luretis (1984) and my own trans-faggot experience, vampire-images are designed to give an account of the processes of simulation that work to erase traces of exploitation. They depart from Gilles Deleuze's time-images of modern cinema (1989), which imply irrational cuts caused by particular relinkages of sound and visual data. In addition, as my analysis of Elisa, vida mia attempts to prove, vampire-images involve icons of women as objectified or subordinated to men. -

They talked about the genesis of The Sapling, a site that “celebrates the excellence and diversity of children’s books in Aotearoa and abroad”, why they think it was needed and how they have chosen the voices that are represented each month. They looked at the gender and racial diversity of those who are reviewed or interviewed, and highlighted some of their favourite pieces. Sarah and Thalia are editors of The Sapling. Thalia is working with Sarah while co- founding editor, Jane Arthur, is on maternity leave.
