Message from the TrustBus Workshop Chairs

W07: International Workshop on Trust and Privacy in Digital Business (TrustBus)

incerely welcome to the first international workshop on Trust and Privacy in Digital Business S(Trustbus’02) held in conjunction with the DEXA 2002 in Aix-en-Provence, France. Being the first of a planned series of workshops it is our goal that this workshop initiates a successful forum to bring together researchers from academia and commercial developers from industry to discuss the state of the art of technology for establishing trust and privacy in digital business. We thank you all for coming to Aix to participate and debate the new emerging advances in this area.

The workshop program consists of two invited sessions, a panel discussion, and regular technical papers sessions. The first invited session and the panel discussion address issues on trust and privacy of e-services focusing on voting, polling and other government and public services. These sessions are organized by the European e-Vote project (An Internet Based Electronic Voting System, IST-2000-29518, http://www.instore.gr/evote). The second invited session consists of an invited talk on “Non-repudiation in Electronic Commerce”, delivered by Dr. Jianying Zhou from Laboratories for Information Technologies (LIT). The regular sessions cover a broad range of topics, from access control issues to PKI and trust. The call for papers of the workshop has attracted 37 submissions out of which the members of the program committee have selected 18 papers for presentation and inclusion in the workshop proceedings.

We would like to express our thanks to the people who helped put together the technical program: the program committee members and external reviewers for their timely and rigorous reviews of the papers, the DEXA organizing committee for their help in administrative work, and the representatives of the e-VOTE project for organizing the invited session and the panel.

Finally we would like to thank all authors who submitted papers, those presenting papers, and the attendees who make this workshop an intellectually stimulating event. We hope you will enjoy the workshop and make it a success.
