Mailing addresses of the Peace Education Commission

The Peace Education Commission (PEC) was established to facilitate international cooperation among individuals interested in peace education and research related to peace education. It operates via a Council and an Executive Secretary (at present located in Sweden). The main ambition of PEC is to serve as a useful network for transnational information and support in the peace education area. Two instruments are basic in such network activities: a newsletter service and an up-to-date address list. The present miniprint gives current mailing addresses. INTRODUCTION
The purpose of The International Peace Research Association (IPRA) is to advance interdisciplinary research into the conditions of peace and the causes of war and other forms of violence. IPRA has a number of working groups or commissions that form around important peace-related issues, such as Peace Movements or Women and Peace. The Peace Education Commission (PEC) is IPRA's oldest specialized body. It was established to facilitate international cooperation among individuals interested in peace education and research related to peace education. It defines peace education in a broad way to include both explicit peace education (dealing for example with facts from peace research) and implicit peace education (dealing among other things with how to educate a new generation to acquire peaceful values and attitudes). PEC has also dealt with peace education at various educational levels (preschool, compulsory school, secondary school, higher education) as well as in the non-formal sector (making the everyday world the classroom). PEC is semi-independent of IPRA. We recommend that PEC members also be members of IPRA, but according to tradition in this group. non-IPRA peace educators are also accepted in the PEC network. PEC operates via a Council (see list of Council members below) and an Executive Secretary (at present located at the Malm School of Education in Sweden). The main ambition of PEC is to serve u a useful network for transnational information and support in the peace education area. Two instruments are basic in such network activities: a newsletter service and an up-to-date address list. At present, PEC works with two types of newsletter: (a) brief and plain "mini-newsletters" (just a couple of pages for quick communication); and (b) more "journal-like" newsletters - under the heading "Peace. Environment and Education" - with room for more detailed information and expression of views. In the present Peace Education Miniprint we publish current mailing addresses for the members of the PEC network (as they are known to the Malm office at the beginning of October 1991). The present list is considerably revised and extended in comparison with the wevious list (dated October 1990). My hope is that this address list will serve our members well, making it easier to take direct, personal contact with others in our network. k you spot any remaining errors in the list (or if addresses are changed later on), please kt me know.
