Back to the Basics

Remote Camporee

rd th October 23 -25 Hello Scouters,

Good day! This year’s fall camporee will look a little different than in the past, but is setting up to be a very fun and energetic weekend. It is something I think everyone will enjoy and learn something new or practice an old skill. We are having the Back-to-the-Basics Remote Camporee this month, October 23rd – 25th and inviting our fellow other Scouts BSA districts nearby to participate with us! All of us will be getting back to some of the basics of scout camping, while enjoying time together as a troop/patrol for the weekend in October and then sharing with the rest of the group.

How will this look?

• Sign up to participate and be a part of this exciting event! There is a small fee to cover the Camporee patch if you want one. • Troops/patrols will find a location to camp out the weekend of Oct. 23-25th.

• Everyone will use good safety protocol relevant to the covid virus pandemic.

• Troops will set up their camp, do 3 pioneering projects, build a fire, and cook meals; all while trying to use creative and traditional Scout methods. Examples to follow.

• Troops will take photos and document what they did to share or upload to our event Facebook page for the committee to score based on point criteria. Scoring sheet attached to this packet. A lot of the points are determined by you using unique methods to doing things, and not modern methods.

• Recognition will be posted on the Michigan Crossroads Facebook group of who our 2020 Fall Camporee winner is!!
