2013-2014 Edition

Dear Friends,

I’m writing to you from the 2nd floor of Elliott Hall, the soon-to-be former of PMO. With construction on Bailey Hall now underway, the wait for our brand new home will soon be over! I want to thank Ralph and Bettye Bailey, their incredible family and the 456 Bailey Hall donors who have helped to make this dream a reality. We expect to move-in during the fall of 2014.

The Purdue Varsity Club, the Purduettes and the Purdue Bells just returned from a two- week performance tour of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and France. We were privileged to have 38 PMO Club supporters traveling along with us.

The students performed in historic venues including St. Stephen’s Cathedral in beautiful Vienna and during Sunday mass at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The students also had opportunities to explore the sights including the Eiffel Tower, Neuschwanstein Castle, the Louvre Museum and had quite a snowball fight at 7,000 feet atop Mount Pilatus!

We ended our tour with a performance at the Normandy American Cemetery on Memorial Day. The students were invited to participate in a special ceremony during our visit and we are proud and humbled by the opportunity we had to honor our fallen heroes. This tour was a once in a lifetime performance and travel opportunity for 123 of our students and it would not have been possible without the support we receive from our generous supporters.

Earlier this month, we welcomed two new assistant directors to our PMO family: Jermaine Hill from , NY and Sarah May from Rockford, IL. Jermaine and Sarah joined our team after we said to Jon Ranard and Ted Arthur. Jon is moving back to Iowa to be with family and Ted has moved to California to pursue another opportunity. We wish them well and we hope you will join us in welcoming Jermaine and Sarah!

On behalf of our students and staff, thank you for staying connected with us and thank you for all you have done and continue to do to help us achieve so much. We take great pride in serving as ambassadors for our great university and we simply could not do what we do without friends like you. This year, we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of Purdue Musical Organizations and I hope you will be able to join us at a performance along the way. We wish you a wonderful summer. Hail Purdue!
