Study of Hypericum perforatum defense mechanisms against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides: Relevance of i phenolic metabolism and hypersensitive response. Luis Eduardo F.R. Polish style! Study of Hypericum perforatum defense mechanisms against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides: Relevance of ii phenolic metabolism and hypersensitive response. Luis Eduardo F.R. Conceição Acknowledgments/Agradecimentos My appreciation also to Franklin, who came to Braga as a group colleague but soon became good a friend of mine. My inestimable gratitude for all your help and backup in the lab, especially in the time-consuming/boring/nerve-breaking maintenance of suspension cell cultures, the most crucial material I needed for the work presented here. Equally important, thanks for contributing in a daily basis, along with others, to a most needed good environment in the lab. Muito obrigado, pá! I would also like to express my gratitude to Erich, Katja, Lucie and Brigitte, for accepting me as your guest in Max-Planck and making it so easy for me to adapt to a new environment. Besides the professional support (and patience), essential for overcoming many of the technical problems I was facing in Braga, your friendship, shown during all my stay in Cologne, shall not be forgotten, no matter how far you may be (especially in Katja’s case). By the way, the Greek recipes and choreography shall not be forgotten also… My appreciation also to Elke, Bekir, Mario and Rainer, for you support and valuable opinions. Study of Hypericum perforatum defense mechanisms against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides: Relevance of iii phenolic metabolism and hypersensitive response. Luis Eduardo F.R. Sem saber se serão mudanças para melhor, faço-as à mesma, revendo-me nas palavras de Paul Anka: “Regrets, I’ve had a few, But then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption.

Lasˇtu˚vka & A. Lasˇtu˚vka Abstract An annotated list of the Iberian Peninsula Sesiidae is presented. Synanthedon flaviventris (Staudinger, 1883) is new for Spain and the Iberian Peninsula, and S. scoliaeformis (Borkhausen, 1789) is new for Portugal. First concrete occurrence data on Sesia bembeciformis (Hübner, [1806]) are given from Spain. New province records are given of 32 species (about 200 new province records in all). 53 species of the family Sesiidae are known in the Iberian Peninsula (53 in Spain and 32 in Portugal), taxonomic status or level of 3 taxa is as yet unclear (Synanthedon cruciati, Bembecia psoraleae, Pyropteron muscaeformis lusohispanica). The distribution of individual species in the Peninsula is evaluated and a zoogeographical analysis is performed.

Key words: Lepidoptera, Sesiidae, world literature.

Literatur E bert , G. & Rennwald , E. (Hrsg.) Bibliographic summary and new re- cords of the Brachodidae and Sesiidae of Sicily, with an updated list and some comments on the distribution of Italian species (Lepidoptera, Cossoidea). Spixiana 40 (1): 139-156. In this study, we have summarised the known records of Brachodidae and Sesiidae from Sicily. One Brachodidae and 30 Sesiidae species have been recog- nised. New faunistic data are provided for 21 Sesiidae based on recently collected material. Three species, Paranthrene diaphana Dalla Torre & Strand, 1925; Synanthe- don loranthi (Králícek, 1966), and S. formicaeformis (Esper, 1783), are recorded from Sicily for the first time; this is also the first Italian record for P. diaphana. Specimens of Chamaesphecia thracica Z. Laštuvka, 1983 from the Italian mainland belong to C. staudingeri (Failla-Tedaldi, 1890). The presence of Bembecia sirphiformis (Lucas, 1849) in Italy is confirmed. Details on distribution and host plants are given for each species as well as biological remarks where neccessary. Species erroneously re- ported for Sicily are listed and commented. The zoogeography of the Sicilian spe- cies is analysed

GARREVOET, W. GARREVOET & H. ÖZBEK A b s t r a c t : Detailed distributional data based on material collected and observations made on Sesiidae predominantly in eastern Turkey from 2001 to 2006, are presented. Special attention is paid to species that are endangered and should get the "Red List" status. In particular two species, Pyropteron cirgisa (BARTEL 1912) and Chamaesphecia palustris KAUTZ 1927 were found to be critically endangered and urgent measures to protect their habitats are proposed. Where suitable, the agro- economical importance of some species is discussed. Two species, Pyropteron atypica KALLIES & ŠPATENKA 2003 and Dipchasphecia consobrina (LE CERF 1938), are recorded for the Turkish fauna for the first time. Synanthedon armeniaca GORBUNOV 1991 is here introduced as a new synonym of Synanthedon myopaeformis (BORKHAUSEN 1789). Bembecia mira GORBUNOV & ŠPATENKA 2001 as a new synonym of Bembecia scopigera (SCOPOLI 1763) and Bembecia zuvandica GORBUNOV 1987 as a new synonym of Bembecia apyra (LE CERF 1937). Finally, the taxon transcaucasica (STAUDINGER 1891) is here regarded a subspecies of Bembecia sanguinolenta (LEDERER 1853) (stat.nov.) while turcmena (BARTEL 1912) is considered a subspecies of Bembecia pontica (STAUDINGER 1891) (stat. rev.). Introduction The Sesiidae (clearwings) are a large family of Lepidoptera, with almost 1400 valid species described worldwide (LAŠTŮVKA & LAŠTŮVKA 2001, PÜHRINGER & KALLIES 2004). Although they prefer warm climates and are well represented in semi-arid to arid environments, they occur on all continents except Antarctica.
