Both the Marshall Foundation and the Rhodes Trust will place their Scholars in their proposed program(s). What Degree Should You Read For? Undergraduate Level Degrees: • A second B.A. is an option for the Rhodes, though an increasingly less common one (90% of Rhodes Scholars read for a post-grad degree). It is not an option for the Marshall.

Graduate Level Degrees:

• M.Phil., M.Sc., M.St., M.Litt., B.Phil., D. Phil. (Oxford), Ph.D. (rest of Britain).

 Oxford B.Phil. and some Oxford M.Phils. are two-year degrees. There is a possibility for third year (D.Phil) funding, but not if you read for two one-year M.Phils. The Rhodes Rhodes Scholarships: Overview

• 32 scholarships are award each year to U.S. citizens and some permanent residents — two scholars selected per geographical district (16 districts).

The criteria which set forth in his Will still guide Committees of Selection in their assessment of applicants. The Will contains four standards by which prospective Rhodes Scholars should be judged:

• Scholastic attainments;

• The energy to use one’s talents to the full;

• Truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship; and

• Moral force of character and instincts to lead and to take an interest in one’s fellow beings. Rhodes Scholarships: Overview

• Candidates may apply through their home state or through Georgia (by virtue of living in Georgia to attend Agnes Scott). Candidates are strongly encouraged to apply through Georgia as Agnes Scott is far better known to and admired by members of the Atlanta Regional Committee than to other regional committees. The :Marshall Scholarships: Overview

• Up to 40 scholarships are awarded each year.

• Traditional Marshall is tenable for two years. It is only renewable for a third year in very limited circumstances.

• Scholarship covers tuition and university and college fees, plus a living stipend and other expenses (books, research and travel, fares to/from U.S.).

• Available for study at any U.K. university. Applications indicating interest in universities other than Oxford, Cambridge, and University College London and the LSE are especially welcome.
