The life style of the 21st century people is very different; their attitude and culture have changed .This change of viewpoint is visible in every field of life including Film and television. Nowadays there are several realty shows capturing the attention of the people. The electronic media influence the mind of people. Different television programs target different categories of people .For example the cartoon programs target kids; the realty shows target youth. The points of view of the directors and audience are changing in the modern era. In earlier time, women had only a decorative role in the films. Their representation was merely for satisfying the needs of men. The roles of women were always under the norms and rules of the patriarchal society. They were most often presented on the screen as sexual objects .Here women were abused twice, first by the male character in the film and second, by the spectators. But now the scenario is different. The viewpoint of the directors as well as the audience has drastically changed .In this era the directors are courageous enough to make films with women as central characters.

  • Gender Studies and Sustainable Development in Morocco
Gender Studies and Sustainable Development in Morocco Journal of Living Together (2018) Volume 4-5, Issue 1, pp. 89-100 ISSN: 2373-6615 (Print); 2373-6631 (Online) Gender Studies and Sustainable Development in Morocco Fouzia Rhissassi UNESCO Chair, Woman and her Rights, Ibn Tofail University, Kénitra, Morocco 89 Gender Studies and Sustainable Development in Morocco Journal of Living Together (2018) Volume 4-5, Issue 1 Abstract The paper explores the need for the continuity of gender studies in Morocco and discusses some of its dimensions. It also argues that the study of gender is in conformity with the goals of liberal education in several fundamental ways: by its interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature, synthesizing approach, its emphasis on deconstruction/reconstruction, its examination of the role of value judgment in the creation of knowledge, and its problem-solving stance. It seeks to demonstrate that promoting gender courses and women’s rights is crucial for women’s empowerment, stressing the ways in which Moroccan women try to reappraise traditional spaces and boundaries by raising their voices, telling their tales and making their own cases known. The paper also seeks to examine the breaking of the taboos related to the sanctity of some discourses by women and the use they have made of the freedom to explore some areas of women’s experiences especially after the 2011 Moroccan Constitution. It concludes with an analysis of the future challenges in Morocco: to show the continued necessity of gender awareness and peace studies for those who would believe that we are in a post-feminist age and to fill in the gaps related to sustainable, equitable and democratic growth.

  • Women, Gender, and Politics in Morocco
social sciences $€ £ ¥ Article Women, Gender, and Politics in Morocco Moha Ennaji International Institute for Languages and Cultures, University of Fès, B.P. 50, Fès 30 000, Morocco; [email protected]; Tel.: +212-673-102-923 Academic Editor: Nancy A. Naples Received: 29 March 2016; Accepted: 10 November 2016; Published: 18 November 2016 Abstract: This article analyzes the intersection of gender, women’s activism, and political participation in Morocco in a socio-political approach. The emergence of women’s activism is an answer to the gender-based discrimination in the country. Women’s non-government organizations (NGOs) struggle for women’s rights and participate actively in the feminization and democratization of the public sphere to ensure sustainable development. They create progressive social change through the mobilization and participation of women. The role of women’s NGO’s (liberal and Islamic alike) in the struggle against gender inequalities is remarkable in regard of their efforts to consolidate democracy and social justice and to challenge traditional thinking and inequitable, oppressive, undemocratic, sexist practices of governance. Despite the different approaches, they act together to achieve women’s rights in a variety of places. Keywords: feminism; activism; Islam; politics; Muslim women; non-government organizations; democratization; gender inequality; oppression; women’s empowerment 1. Introduction This article analyzes the status of women in contemporary Morocco. Although it is culturally varied, Morocco has many similarities with other Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) countries in relation to women that are significant and profound: a strong religion (Islam), co-habitation of tradition and modernity, and a transitional phase in the processes of democratization and development.
