The mushroom flour addition increased the value of the water absorption for 8.1% and maximal pasta vis- cosity for 48.2%, decreased the dough energy for 80.4% and prolonged the dough stability time for 2.5 min. The content of fatty acids, mono- and di-acylglycerols and the content of total unsaturated fatty acids in mixtures increased with the increase of the mushroom flour portion in flour mixtures, while the content of triacylglycerols and total saturated fatty acids decreased. In order to enrich the wheat flour with mushroom lipid components and obtain the dough with satisfactory rheology proper- ties, the mushroom portion of 10% (w/w) was indicated. -

Oxya (central Greece) fir forests, a total of 358 taxa of macromycetes, belonging in 149 genera, have been recorded. Ninety eight taxa constitute new records, and five of them are first reports for the respective genera (Athelopsis, Crustoderma, Lentaria, Protodontia, Urnula). One hundred and one records for habitat/host/substrate are new for Greece, while some of these associations are reported for the first time in literature. Key words — biodiversity, macromycetes, fir, Mediterranean region, mushrooms Introduction The mycobiota of Greece was until recently poorly investigated since very few mycologists were active in the fields of fungal biodiversity, taxonomy and systematic. Until the end of ’90s, less than 1.000 species of macromycetes occurring in Greece had been reported by Greek and foreign researchers. Practically no collaboration existed between the scientific community and the rather few amateurs, who were active in this domain, and thus useful information that could be accumulated remained unexploited. Until then, published data were fragmentary in spatial, temporal and ecological terms. The authors introduced a different concept in their methodology, which was based on a long-term investigation of selected ecosystems and monitoring-inventorying of macrofungi throughout the year and for a period of usually 5-8 years. -

Thirty Plus Years of Mushroom Poisoning
Summary of the Poisoning Reports in the NAMA Case Registry for 2006 through 2017 By Michael W. Beug, Chair NAMA Toxicology Committee In the early years of NAMA, toxicology was one of the concerns of the Mycophagy Committee. The existence of toxicology committees in the Puget Sound and Colorado clubs stimulated the NAMA officers to separate the good and bad aspects of ingesting mushrooms. In 1973 they established a standing Toxicology Committee initially chaired by Dr. Duane H. (Sam) Mitchel, a Denver, Colorado MD who founded the Colorado Mycological Society. In the early 1970s, Sam worked with Dr. Barry Rumack, then director of the Rocky Mountain Poison Center (RMPC) to establish a protocol for handling information on mushroom poisonings resulting in the center becoming nationally recognized for handling mushroom poisonings. Encouraged by Dr Orson Miller and acting on a motion by Kit Scates, the NAMA trustees then created the Mushroom Poisoning Case Registry in 1982. Dr. Kenneth Cochran laid the groundwork for maintaining the Registry at the University of Michigan. Individuals can report mushroom poisonings using the NAMA website (www.namyco.org). The reporting is a volunteer effort and at the end of each year members of the NAMA toxicology committee assemble all of the reports for the previous year as well as any other earlier cases that can still be documented. Individuals are encouraged to submit reports directly through the NAMA website. In addition, members of the toxicology committee work with Poison Centers to gather mushroom poisoning reports. The toxicology committee has 160 toxicology identifiers living in 36 states and 3 Canadian Provinces. -
