13th Annual Quahog Bowl February 6th, 2010 Hosted by Sea Grant & Project Oceanology The Quahog Bowl, the regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl that serves Connecticut and Rhode Island, wants to express its sincere gratitude to Dominion's Millstone Power Station for its support.

It is only through the support of benefactors such as Dominion's Millstone Power Station that events like this are able to take place. WELCOME to the 13th Annual Quahog Bowl SPECTATORS • Please arrive at each game promptly as the door will be shut when the game begins and no one may enter or leave the competition room while the competition is in progress. • The audience must remain quiet during the games and no communication with the participants is allowed. Anyone violating this rule will be asked to leave the room. • Note taking, audio/video recording and photography are prohibited during the competition. • The UConn CO-OP will be open from 8 am to 2 pm. • Fin’s Cafe (located at Project Oceanology) will be open for lunch. COMPETITION ROOMS All competition rooms are located in the Academic Building on the University of Connecticut-Avery Point campus. COMPETITION FORMAT Each match consists of two six-minute halves separated by an intermission. In the first half, team members will answer a Jeopardy style round of buzzer questions. Members will then work together to answer two Team Challenge Questions. After intermission, the teams answer a second round of Jeopardy style buzzer questions. During the buzzer rounds, the first player to buzz in has the opportunity to answer the question. A correct answer results in a chance for the team to answer the bonus question. Teams receive match points: Win = 2, Tie = 1, Loss= 0. 2010 Quahog Bowl Teams Atlantic Ocean Division (A) Atlantic 1 ~ Bacon Academy Atlantic 3 ~ Atlantic 2 ~ Staples High School Atlantic 4 ~ Narragansett High School
