Tomasko Joins Network as Director of Leadership Giving

HARTFORD, Conn. (Oct. 13, 2014) - Karen Tomasko has joined the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network (CPBN) as Director of Leadership Giving. Tomasko’s responsibilities include developing and strengthening CPBN’s Leadership Gifts program; managing the development and stewardship activities; and establishing positive and rewarding relationships with donors and prospects that will lead to significant support for the network, which includes CPTV (Connecticut Public Television) and WNPR ().

Tomasko has over 25 years of experience in marketing, public relations and fundraising, with the last eight years focused on creating successful major gifts fundraising programs. Her experience includes positions as the Executive Director at the Elizabeth Park Conservancy; Director of Major Gifts at the Connecticut Science Center; and Associate Director of Development at the Neag Cancer Center –UCONN. For 12 years, she owned and operated Tomasko Creative, a public relations, marketing and graphic design firm, which served not-for-profit clients and businesses throughout Connecticut. She has worked closely with development teams at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, The Bushnell, The Hartford YWCA and the Governor’s Coalition for Youth with Disabilities, and has extensive experience with volunteer management, event development and creating targeted donor communication materials.

Karen earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut. She lives in West Hartford with her husband, Bob, and has two adult children, Jenna and Jesse. She is a table captain of the YWCA’s In the Company of Women annual fundraiser and a member of the Connecticut Women’s Council. She also enjoys mentoring young entrepreneurs in the Hartford area in the areas of fundraising and communications.
