Studies

Born in 1993, the Viennese Pianist Judith Valerie Engel has been studying performance with Prof. Pavel Gililov at the Mozarteum Salzburg since October 2010. In 2015 she finished her Bachelor’s degree with the highest distinction and is now studying for her Master. She started taking piano lessons at the age of five with Russian pianist Prof. Mag. Nina Igudesman and was awarded special sponsorship status of the Viennese Music Education Centres in 2001. Further inspiration for her piano playing came from lessons with renowned like Paul BaduraSkoda, Mihaela Ursuleasa, Matti Raekallio and Florian Birsak. As an addition to her education Judith Valerie Engel is taking conducting and singing lessons.

Concerts and Stage-Experience

Judith Valerie Engel is playing concerts on a regular basis. She already performed in the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Musikverein Graz, the Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Russian and Hungarian Cultural Institutes and the Polish Embassy in , and the Austrian Cultural Forum London. She was invited to play at numerous charityconcerts, gallery openings and poetry readings, once for example together with the hornist Prof. R. Horvath of the Viennese Philharmonic . In August 2012 Judith Valerie Engel was invited to perform at the 28th International Chopin Festival in Gaming, Lower and got asked to play at several follow-up concert organised by the International Chopin Societies in Austria and Germany. In the summer of 2015 she performed at the Beethovenfest Bonn. Other concert tours took her to Russia, Britain, Hungary, Italy and Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Her performances are mainly centred on her solo-repertoire, however she also regularly performs with ensembles and ‘Lied-Duos’. Competitions and Scholarships

Judith Valerie Engel has already won various competitions. From the age of six to 16 she regularly participated in the Austrian competition “Prima La Musica” and won first prizes and special awards for both her solo and her chamber music performances. 2008 saw her win the first prize at the „International Music, and Art Festival Contest“ and 2010 the Grand Prix at the international competition “The Festival Bridges”. In 2012 she was awarded the „Yehudi Menuhin - Live Music Now” scholarship. In the fall of 2013 Judith Valerie Engel participated in the International Schubert Competition Dortmund LiedDuo and won the third prize together with Oddur Jónsson. In January 2014 she was a winner of the competition ‘Musica Juventutis’ and as a result performed in Konzerthaus Wien in March 2015. That same year she also got awarded the Richard Wagner scholarship of the Richard Wagner Verband Wien.
