First Snowfall of 2011 To-Do List: Next Snow THE PIERSON SuN vOlumE lXXvII ISSuE III - JANuARY mmXI After the blackout, whiteout: First snowfall of 2011 n January 12th, Pier- sonites awoke to a whimsical winter Owonderland (or, for the pes- simists out there, a freaking inconvenient tundra). With the snow came a flurry of emails an- nouncing class cancellations and building closings, giving some a bona fide snow day. Piersonites spent the day building snow forts, snow castles, snowmen, and even a crumbling, crooked 8 foot col- umn of snow - a leaning tower of Pisa perhaps? But snow can be a vicious en- emy as well as a furry friend, as several Piersonites learned. One Piersonite lost his keys in the midst of a snowball fight, lead- ing to a flashlight search party later in the night. A second un- lucky Piersonite is yet to recover from her i.d. snapping in two in the midst of a rather ferocious winter battle. Pierson Sun Tip: remove Photos by Pierson Sun Staff important articles from pockets Top: Pierson Tower and the York Street entrance after a sunny day, marked by Piersonites’ boots, shoes... and the occasional flip-flop. Right: Series of vignettes depicting Pierson’s courtyard; the College’s benches and tables stood no chance against Mother Nature’s labors. before frolicking in malicious Bottom: The morning after the storm, Yale’s courageous groundskeeping personnel was hard at work clearing 19 inches of snow. crystals of frozen water. To-do list: Next snow day 1) Build an ice rink in Pierson courtyard. 2) Build a giant bulldog (use food coloring to dye the snow) 3) Traditional Traying at the Div School 4) Igloos and snow tunnels. My mom used to tell me these were dangerous and could collapse on you and kill you; I don’t believe her and you shouldn’t either. 5) Plan a winter blitzkrieg on Davenport – a little bit of organization could go a long way… PAGE 2 PIERSON bIRTHdAYS : 1/1 ANN KIllIAN - AlICIA SEElAuS ¤ 1/2 vICTORIA bROOK - SHARON wu ¤ 1/3 ANdREw GIAmbRONE ¤ CORINNA lEwIS ¤ 1/5 REubEN FISCHER-bAum ¤ 1/10 AmElIA EARNEST - KAI TuRNER - bOlOROO uuGANbayar - Henry ZHENG DVD Domination Monty Python, Pierson’s hidden jewels Princess Bride, hat do Eternal horror movies.
