The creative television writing and producing team of Joey Gutierrez and Diane Burroughs have written for a string of successful sitcoms. Their current hit is the show they created, Still Standing, now in its 4th season. Still Standing is a comedy about a blue-collar Chicago couple working to raise their three children without losing sight of the cool couple they used to be. The show stars Mark Addy, Jami Gertz, Jennifer Irwin, Taylor Ball, Renee Olstead, Soleil Borda and Joel Murray. One of CBS Studio Center’s longest-running current productions, Still Standing established its home on Stage 20 and the Mack Sennett Building. Before embarking on their television careers, Burroughs and Gutierrez were involved in Chicago’s stand-up circuit fulfilling a childhood passion for comedy. Gutierrez’ father, a steel worker, drove him to the local comedy clubs for two years until he was old enough to drive himself. From the tender age of 16 and for the next 13 years Gutierrez performed on stage in various clubs including The Improv, Caroline’s Comedy Club, and Catch a Rising Star. He also made a variety of television appearances on shows such as The David Brenner Show, Evening at the Improv and Caroline's Comedy Hour. His first paying gig came from Arsenio Hall. States Gutierrez, “I performed at the Komedy Kove and earned five bucks a set. Back then it was a huge deal to me.” While continuing stand-up at a local Chicago club, Zanies, Gutierrez met Jerry Seinfeld. Shortly thereafter he wrote Jerry Clockwise Mark Addy, Jami Gertz, Still Standing can be seen Seinfeld’s “uncredited” stand-up material Jennifer Irwin, Taylor Ball, Renee Olstead for the first five seasons of the critically and Soleil Borda on Wednesday nights at acclaimed sitcom Seinfeld. 8:00 p.m. (PST) on CBS.
