First Portion Exodus Chapter 12 כא ַו ִיּ ְקָ ֥רא מ ֶ ֛שׁה ְל ָכל־ ִז ְקֵ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ַו ֣יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֲא ֵל ֶ ֑הם ,Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them .21 ִֽמ ְשׁ ֗כוּ ְוּק ֨חוּ ָל ֶ ֥כם ֛צ ֹאן ְל ִמ ְשׁ ְפּ ֽחֹ ֵתי ֶ ֖כם ְו ַ ֽשׁ ֲח ֥טוּ Draw forth or buy for yourselves sheep for your families and" ַה ָ ֽפּ ַסח: .slaughter the Passover sacrifice
כב ְוּל ַק ְח ֶ֞תּם ֲא ֻגַ ֣דּת ֵא֗זוֹב ְוּט ַב ְל ֶתּם֘ ַבָּ ֣דּם ֲא ֶשׁר־ ַבּ ַסּ ֒ף And you shall take a bunch of hyssop and immerse [it] in .22 ְו ִה ַגּ ְﬠ ֶ ֤תּם ֶא ַל־ה ַמּ ְשׁ ֙קוֹף ְו ֶאל־ ְשׁ ֵ ֣תּי ַה ְמּ ֔זוּזֹת ִמ ַן־ה ָ ֖דּם the blood that is in the basin, and you shall extend to the lintel ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ַבּ ָ ֑סּף ְו ַא ֶ֗תּם ֥ל ֹא ֵ ֽת ְצ ֛אוּ ִ֥אישׁ ִמ ֶ ֽפּ ַתח־ ֵבּי ֖תוֹ and to the two doorposts the blood that is in the basin, and you shall not go out, any man from the entrance of his house until ַﬠד־ ֽבֹּ ֶקר: morning.
כג ְו ָﬠ ַ ֣בר ְי ָהוֹ ֘ה ִל ְנ ֣ ֹגּף ֶאת ִ־מ ְצַ ֒ר ִי ֒ם ְוָר ָ ֤אה ֶאת ַ־ה ָדּ ֙ם The Lord will pass to smite the Egyptians, and He will see .23 ַﬠ ַל־ה ַמּ ְשׁ ֔קוֹף ְו ַ ֖ﬠל ְשׁ ֵ ֣תּי ַה ְמּ ֑זוּזֹת וּ ָפ ַ ֤סח ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, and the Lord
ַﬠ ַל־ה ֶ֔פּ ַתח ְו ֤ל ֹא ִי ֵ ֙תּן ַה ַמּ ְשׁ ִ֔חית ָל ֥ב ֹא ֶאל־ ָ ֽבּ ֵתּי ֶ ֖כם will pass over the entrance, and He will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses to smite [you]. ִל ְנ ֽ ֹגּף:
כד ְוּשׁ ַמְר ֶ ֖תּם ֶאת ַ־ה ָדּ ָ ֣בר ַהֶ ֑זּה ְל ָחק־ ְל ֥ ְוּל ָבֶ ֖ני And you shall keep this matter as a statute for you and for .24
ַﬠד־ ָ ֽעוֹלם: .your children forever
Second Portion Exodus Chapter 12 כה ְו ָהָ֞יה ִֽכּ ָי־ת ֣בֹאוּ ֶא ָל־ה ָ֗אֶרץ ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִי ֵ ֧תּן ְי ָ ֛הוֹה ָל ֶ ֖כם And it shall come to pass when you enter the land that the .25 ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ִדּ ֵ ֑בּר ְוּשׁ ַמְר ֶ ֖תּם ֶאת ָ ֽ־ה ֲﬠבָֹ ֥דה ַה ֽזּ ֹאת: Lord will give you, as He spoke, that you shall observe this service. כו ְו ָהָ֕יה ִכּי־ ֽי ֹ ְאמ ֥רוּ ֲא ֵלי ֶ ֖כם ְבּ ֵני ֶ ֑כם ָ ֛מה ָ ֽה ֲﬠבָֹ ֥דה And it will come to pass if your children say to you, What is .26
ַה ֖זּ ֹאת ָל ֶ ֽכם: ?this service to you
כז ַ ֽו ֲא ַמְר ֶ֡תּם ֶ ֽז ַבח ֶ֨־פּ ַסח ֜הוּא ַ ֽל ָ ֗יהוֹה ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ָ֠פּ ַ ֠סח you shall say, It is a Passover sacrifice to the Lord, for He .27 passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when ַﬠל־ ָבּ ֵ ֤תּי ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵא ֙ל ְבּ ִמ ְצַ ֔ר ִים ְבּ ָנ ְג ֥פּוֹ ֶאת ִ־מ ְצַ ֖ר ִים ְו ֶאת־ ָבּ ֵ ֣תּינוּ ִה ִ ֑צּיל ַו ִיּ ֥קֹּד ָה ָ ֖ﬠם ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ַ ֽתּ ֲחֽווּ: He smote the Egyptians, and He saved our houses. And the people kneeled and prostrated themselves.
כח ַוֵ ֽיּ ְל ֥כוּ ַוַ ֽיּ ֲﬠ ֖שׂוּ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִצָ ֧וּה ְי ָ ֛הוֹה So the children of Israel went and did; as the Lord .28
ֶאת־מ ֶ ֥שׁה ְו ַ ֽא ֲה ֖רֹן ֵ ֥כּן ָﬠ ֽשׂוּ: .commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did
Third Portion Exodus Chapter 12 כט ַו ְי ִ ֣הי | ַ ֽבּ ֲח ִ ֣צי ַה ַ֗לּ ְי ָלה ַ ֽו ָיהוֹ ֘ה ִה ָ ֣כּה ָכל־ ְבּ ֘כוֹר It came to pass at midnight, and the Lord smote every .29 firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who ְבּ ֶ ֣אֶרץ ִמ ְצַ ֒ר ִי ֒ם ִמ ְבּ ֤כֹר ַפְּרעֹ ֙ה ַהיּ ֵ ֣שׁב ַﬠ ִל־כּ ְס ֔אוֹ ַ֚ﬠד ְבּ ֣כוֹר ַה ְשּׁ ִ֔בי ֲא ֶ ֖שׁר ְבּ ֵ ֣בית ַה ֑בּוֹר ְו ֖כֹל ְבּ ֥כוֹר ְבּ ֵה ָ ֽמה: sits on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who is in the dungeon, and every firstborn animal.
ל ַוָ֨יּ ָקם ַפְּר ֜עֹה ַ֗ל ְי ָלה ֤הוּא ְו ָכל־ ֲﬠ ָב ָד ֙יו ְו ָכ ִל־מ ְצַ ֔ר ִים And Pharaoh arose at night, he and all his servants and all .30 ַו ְתּ ִ ֛הי ְצ ָﬠָ ֥ קה ְגדָֹ ֖לה ְבּ ִמ ְצָ ֑ר ִים ִכּ ֵ ֣י־אין ַ֔בִּית ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר the Egyptians, and there was a great outcry in Egypt, for there ֵ ֽאין־ ָ ֖שׁם ֵ ֽמת: .was no house in which no one was dead
לא ַו ִיּ ְקָר ֩א ְלמ ֶ֨שׁה ְוּל ַ ֽא ֲה ֜רֹן ַ֗ל ְי ָלה ַו֨יּ ֹ ֶאמ ֙ר ֤קוּמוּ ֙צּאוּ ,So he called for Moses and Aaron at night, and he said .31 "Get up and get out from among my people, both you, as well ִמ ֣תּוֹ ַﬠ ִ֔מּי ַגּ ַם־א ֶ ֖תּם ַגּם־ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ְוּל ֛כוּ ִﬠ ְב ֥דוּ ֶאת־ ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ְכּ ַד ֶבְּר ֶ ֽכם: as the children of Israel, and go, worship the Lord as you have spoken.
לב ַגּם־ ֽצ ֹ ְאנ ֶ֨כם ַגּם־ ְבּ ַקְר ֶ ֥כם ְק ֛חוּ ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ִדּ ַבְּר ֶ ֖תּם Take also your flocks and also your cattle, as you have .32
ָו ֵ ֑לכוּ וּ ֵ ֽבַר ְכ ֶ ֖תּם ַגּ ֹם־א ִֽתי: ".spoken, and go, but you shall also bless me
לג ַו ֶ ֽתּ ֱחַ ֤זק ִמ ְצַ ֨ר ִי ֙ם ַﬠ ָל־ה ָ֔ﬠם ְל ַמ ֵ ֖הר ְל ַשׁ ְלּ ָ ֣חם So the Egyptians took hold of the people to hasten to send .33
ִמ ָן־ה ָ ֑אֶרץ ִ֥כּי ָ ֽא ְמ ֖רוּ ֻכּ ָ ֥לּנוּ ֵמ ִֽתים: ".them out of the land, for they said, "We are all dead
לד ַו ִיּ ָ ֥שּׂא ָה ָ ֛ﬠם ֶאת־ ְבּ ֵצ ֖קוֹ ֶ ֣טֶרם ֶי ְח ָ ֑מץ ִמ ְשׁ ֲארֹ ָ ֛תם The people picked up their dough when it was not yet .34 ְצֻר ֥רֹת ְבּ ִשׂ ְמ ָ ֖תם ַﬠל־ ִשׁ ְכ ָ ֽמם: leavened, their leftovers bound in their garments on their shoulders.
לה וּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֥אל ָﬠ ֖שׂוּ ִכּ ְד ַ ֣בר מ ֶ ֑שׁה ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ֲא ֙לוּ ,And the children of Israel did according to Moses' order .35 ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֔ר ִים ְכּ ֵל ֶ ֛י־כ ֶסף וּ ְכ ֵ ֥לי ָז ָ ֖הב ְוּשׂ ָמ ֽ ת: and they borrowed from the Egyptians silver objects, golden objects, and garments.
לו ַ ֽו ָ ֞יהוֹה ָנ ַ֨תן ֶאת ֵ ֥־חן ָה ָ ֛ﬠם ְבּ ֵﬠ ֵ ֥יני ִמ ְצַ ֖ר ִים ַו ַיּ ְשׁ ִא ֑לוּם The Lord gave the people favor in the eyes of the .36 ַו ְי ַנ ְצּ ֖לוּ ֶאת ִ־מ ְצָ ֽר ִים: .Egyptians, and they lent them, and they emptied out Egypt
Fourth Portion Exodus Chapter 12 לז ַו ִיּ ְס ֧ﬠוּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֛אל ֵ ֽמַר ְﬠ ְמ ֵ ֖סס ֻס ֑כֹּ ָתה The children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to .37 ְכּ ֵ ֽשׁ ֵשׁ־מ ֨אוֹת ֶ ֧א ֶלף ַר ְגִ ֛לי ַה ְגּ ָבִ ֖רים ְל ַבד ִמ ָ ֽטּף: Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot, the men, besides the young children.
לח ְו ַגם־ ֵ ֥ﬠֶרב ַ ֖רב ָﬠ ָ ֣לה ִא ָ ֑תּם ְו ֣צ ֹאן וּ ָב ָ֔קר ִמ ְקֶ ֖נה And also, a great mixed multitude went up with them, and .38
ָכּ ֵ ֥בד ְמ ֽ ֹאד: .flocks and cattle, very much livestock
לט ַויּ ֹ ֨אפוּ ֶאת ַ־ה ָבּ ֵ֜צק ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִ ֧הוֹציאוּ ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֛ר ִים ֻﬠ ֥ ֹגת They baked the dough that they had taken out of Egypt as .39 unleavened cakes, for it had not leavened, for they were driven ַמ ֖צּוֹת ִ ֣כּי ֣ל ֹא ָח ֵ ֑מץ ִכּ ֽ ֹי־גְר ֣שׁוּ ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֗ר ִים ְו ֤ל ֹא ָ ֽי ְכ ֙לוּ ְל ִה ְת ַמ ְה ֵ֔מַ ְו ַגם־ ֵצ ָ ֖דה ֽל ֹא־ ָﬠ ֥שׂוּ ָל ֶ ֽהם: out of Egypt, and they could not tarry, and also, they had not made provisions for themselves.
מ וּ ַמוֹשׁ ֙ב ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ֔אל ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ָ ֽי ְשׁ ֖בוּ ְבּ ִמ ְצָ ֑ר ִים ְשׁ ִ ֣לשׁים And the habitation of the children of Israel, that they .40
ָשׁ ָ֔נה ְו ַאְר ַ ֥בּע ֵמ ֖אוֹת ָשָׁ ֽנה: .dwelled in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years
מא ַו ְי ִ֗הי ִמ ֵקּ ֙ץ ְשׁ ִ ֣לשׁים ָשׁ ָ֔נה ְו ַאְר ַ ֥בּע ֵמ ֖אוֹת ָשָׁ ֑נה ,It came to pass at the end of four hundred and thirty years .41 ַו ְי ִ֗הי ְבּ ֶ֨ﬠ ֶצ ֙ם ַה֣יּוֹם ַה ֶ֔זּה ָ ֽי ְצ ֛אוּ ָכּל־ ִצ ְב ֥אוֹת ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֵמ ֶ ֥אֶרץ and it came to pass in that very day, that all the legions of the ִמ ְצָ ֽר ִים: .Lord went out of the land of Egypt
מב ֵ ֣ליל ִשׁ ֻמִּ֥רים ֙הוּא ַ ֽל ָ ֔יהוֹה ְל ֽה ִוֹצ ָ ֖יאם ֵמ ֶ ֣אֶרץ It is a night of anticipation for the Lord, to take them out of .42 ִמ ְצָ ֑ר ִים ֽהוּא ַ־ה ַ ֤לּ ְי ָלה ַה ֶזּ ֙ה ַ ֽל ָ ֔יהוֹה ִשׁ ֻמִּ ֛רים ְל ָכל־ ְבֵּ ֥ני the land of Egypt; this night is the Lord's, guarding all the ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ְל ֽדֹרֹ ָ ֽתם: .children of Israel throughout their generations
Fifth Portion Exodus Chapter 12 מג ַו ֤יּ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֶאל־מ ֶ ֣שׁה ְו ַ ֽא ֲה ֔רֹן ֖ז ֹאת ֻחַ ֣קּת The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the statute of .43
ַה ָ ֑פּ ַסח ָכּל־ ֶבּ ֵן־נ ָ ֖כר ל ֹא־ ֥י ֹ ַאכל ֽבּוֹ: .the Passover sacrifice: No estranged one may partake of it
מד ְו ָכל־ ֶ ֥ﬠ ֶבד ִ ֖אישׁ ִמ ְק ַנת ָ ֑־כּ ֶסף וּ ַמ ְל ָ ֣תּה ֹא ֔תוֹ ָ ֖אז And every man's slave, purchased for his money you shall .44
֥י ֹ ַאכל ֽבּוֹ: .circumcise him; then he will be permitted to partake of it
מה ָ ֥תּוֹשׁב ְו ָשׂ ִ ֖כיר ל ֹא־ ֥י ֹ ַאכל ֽבּוֹ: .A sojourner or a hired hand may not partake of it .45
מו ְבּ ַ ֤בִית ֶא ָח ֙ד ֵ ֽי ָא ֵ֔כל ֽל ֹא ִ ֧־תוֹציא ִמ ַן־ה ַ ֛בִּית It must be eaten in one house; you shall not take any of .46 ִמ ַן־ה ָבּ ָ ֖שׂר ֑ח ָוּצה ְו ֶ ֖ﬠ ֶצם ֥ל ֹא ִת ְשׁ ְבּרוּ־ ֽבוֹ: the meat out of the house to the outside, neither shall you break any of its bones.
מז ָכּל־ ֲﬠ ַ ֥דת ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ַ ֽי ֲﬠ ֥שׂוּ ֹא ֽתוֹ: .The entire community of Israel shall make it .47
מח ְו ִֽכי־ ָי ֨גוּר ִא ְתּ ֜ ֵ֗גּר ְו ָ ֣ﬠ ָשׂה ֶ֘פ ַס ֘ח ַ ֽל ָיהוֹ ֒ה ִה ֧מּוֹל ֣לוֹ And should a proselyte reside with you, he shall make a .48 ָכל־ ָז ָ֗כר ְו ָא֙ז ִי ְקַ ֣רב ַ ֽל ֲﬠ ֔שׂתוֹ ְו ָהָ ֖יה ְכּ ֶאְזַ ֣רח ָה ָ ֑אֶרץ Passover sacrifice to the Lord. All his males shall be ְו ָכל־ ָﬠֵ ֖רל ל ֹא־ ֥י ֹ ַאכל ֽבּוֹ: circumcised, and then he may approach to make it, and he will be like the native of the land, but no uncircumcised male may partake of it.
מט ָ ֣תּוֹרה ַא ַ֔חת ִֽי ְהֶי֖ה ָ ֽל ֶאְזָ ֑רח ְו ַלֵ ֖גּר ַהָ ֥גּר ְבּ ֽתוֹ ְכ ֶ ֽכם: There shall be one law for the native and for the stranger .49 who resides in your midst."
נ ַוַ ֽיּ ֲﬠ ֖שׂוּ ָכּל־ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִצָ ֧וּה ְי ָ ֛הוֹה All the children of Israel did; as the Lord had commanded .50
ֶאת־מ ֶ ֥שׁה ְו ֶאת ַ ֽ־א ֲה ֖רֹן ֵ ֥כּן ָﬠ ֽשׂוּ: .Moses and Aaron, so they did
נא ַו ְי ִ֕הי ְבּ ֶ ֖ﬠ ֶצם ַה֣יּוֹם ַהֶ ֑זּה ִ֨הוֹציא ְי ָ ֜הוֹה ֶאת־ ְבֵּ ֧ני It came to pass on that very day, that the Lord took the .51
ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֛אל ֵמ ֶ ֥אֶרץ ִמ ְצַ ֖ר ִים ַﬠל־ ִצ ְב ֹא ָ ֽתם: .children of Israel out of the land of Egypt with their legions
Maftir Portion Numbers Chapter 28 יט ְו ִה ְקַר ְב ֶ֨תּם ִא ֶ ֤שּׁה עֹ ָל ֙ה ַ ֽל ָ ֔יהוֹה ָפִּ ֧רים ְבֵּ ֽני־ ָבָ ֛ קר You shall offer up a fire offering, a burnt offering to the .19 ְשַׁ ֖נ ִ ים ְו ַ ֣אִיל ֶא ָ ֑חד ְו ִשׁ ְב ָ ֤ﬠה ְכ ָב ִשׂי ֙ם ְבֵּ ֣ני ָשׁ ָ֔נה ְתּ ִמי ִ ֖מם Lord: two young bulls, one ram, and seven lambs in the first ִֽי ְה֥יוּ ָל ֶ ֽכם: .year they shall be unblemished for you
כ וּ ִ֨מ ְנ ָח ָ֔תם ֖סֹ ֶלת ְבּ ָ ֣לוּלה ַב ָ ֑שּׁ ֶמן ְשׁ ָ֨לשׁה ֶﬠ ְשׂרִֹ֜נים ;Their meal offerings [shall be] fine flour mixed with oil .20 ַל ָ֗פּר ְוּשֵׁ ֧ני ֶﬠ ְשׂרִֹ ֛נים ָל ַ ֖אִיל ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֽשׂוּ: three tenths for each bull and two tenths for the ram you shall offer up.
כא ִﬠ ָשּׂ ֤רוֹן ִﬠ ָשּׂ ֙רוֹן ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֶ֔שׂה ַל ֶ ֖כּ ֶבשׂ ָ ֽה ֶא ָ ֑חד ְל ִשׁ ְב ַ ֖ﬠת And you shall offer up one tenth for each lamb, for all .21
ַה ְכּ ָב ִֽשׂים: .seven lambs
כב ְוּשׂ ִ֥ﬠיר ַח ָ ֖טּאת ֶא ָ ֑חד ְל ַכ ֵ ֖פּר ֲﬠ ֵלי ֶ ֽכם: And one young male goat for a sin offering to atone for .22 you.
כג ִמ ְלּ ַב ֙ד עֹ ַ ֣לת ַה ֔בֹּ ֶקר ֲא ֶ ֖שׁר ְלעֹ ַ ֣לת ַה ָתּ ִ ֑מיד ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֖שׂוּ You shall offer these up besides the morning burnt offering .23
ֶאת ֵ ֽ־א ֶלּה: .which is offered as a continual burnt offering
כד ָכּ ֵ֜א ֶלּה ַ ֽתּ ֲﬠ ֤שׂוּ ַל ֙יּוֹם ִשׁ ְב ַ ֣ﬠת ָי ִ֔מים ֶ ֛ל ֶחם ִא ֵ ֥שּׁה Like these, you shall offer up daily for seven days, food of .24 ֵ ֽר ַי ִ־נ ֖יחַֹ ַ ֽל ָ ֑יהוֹה ַﬠל־ ַ ֧עוֹלת ַה ָתּ ִ ֛מיד ֵ ֽי ָﬠ ֶ ֖שׂה ְו ִנ ְס ֽכּוֹ: the fire offering, a spirit of satisfaction to the Lord; you shall offer up this in addition to the continual burnt offering and its libation.
כה וּ ַב ֙יּוֹם ַה ְשּׁ ִב ִ֔יﬠי ִמ ְקָרא ֖־קֹ ֶדשׁ ִֽי ְהֶי֣ה ָל ֶ ֑כם The seventh day shall be a holy convocation for you; you .25
ָכּ ְל־מ ֶ ֥ל ֶאכת ֲﬠבָֹ ֖דה ֥ל ֹא ַ ֽת ֲﬠ ֽשׂוּ: .shall not perform any mundane work
Haftarah Joshua Chapter 3 ה ַו ֧יּ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ֻ ֛הוֹשׁ ַ ֶא ָל־ה ָ ֖ﬠם ִה ְת ַק ָ ֑דּשׁוּ ִ ֣כּי ָמ ָ֗חר And Joshua said to the people; Prepare yourselves, for .5
ַי ֲﬠ ֶ ֧שֹה ְי ָ ֛הוֹה ְבּ ִקְר ְבּ ֶ ֖כם ִנ ְפ ָל ֽאוֹת: .tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you
ו ַויּ֚ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ֻ֙הוֹשׁ ַ֙ ֶא ַל־ה ֽכֹּ ֲהִ ֣נים ֵל ֔ ֹאמר ְשׂ ֙אוּ ֶאת ֲ־א ֣רוֹן And Joshua said to the priests, saying: Carry the Ark of the .6 ַה ְבִּ ֔רית ְו ִﬠ ְב ֖רוּ ִל ְפֵ ֣ני ָה ָ ֑ﬠם ַו ִיּ ְשׂ ֙אוּ ֶאת ֲ־א ֣רוֹן ַה ְבִּ ֔רית covenant, and pass before the people. And they carried the Ark ַוֵ ֽיּ ְל ֖כוּ ִל ְפֵ ֥ני ָה ָ ֽﬠם: .of the covenant, and went before the people
ז ַויּ֚ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֶאל־ ְי ֻ֔הוֹשׁ ַ ַה֣יּוֹם ַה ֶ֗זּה ָא ֵח ֙ל ַגֶּדּ ְל ֔ And the Lord said to Joshua: This day I will begin to make .7 ְבּ ֵﬠ ֵ ֖יני ָכּל־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ֲא ֶשׁ ֙ר ֵ ֽי ְ ד ֔עוּן ִ֗כּי ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ָהִ ֛יי ִתי you great in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I ִﬠ ֹם־מ ֶ ֖שׁה ֶ ֽא ְהֶ ֥יה ִﬠ ָ ֽמּ : .was with Moses, so will I be with you
Joshua Chapter 5 ב ָבּ ֵ ֣ﬠת ַה ִ֗היא ָא ַ֚מר ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֶאל־ ְי ֻ֔הוֹשׁ ַ ֲﬠ ֵ ֥שֹה ְל ֖ At that time the Lord said to Joshua, Make for yourself .2 ַ ֽחְר ֣בוֹת ֻצִ ֑רים ְו ֛שׁוּב ֥ ֹמל ֶאת־ ְבֵּ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ֵשִֽׁנית: sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.
ג ַו ַיּ ַﬠשׂ־ ֥לוֹ ְי ֻ ֖הוֹשׁ ַ ַ ֽחְר ֣בוֹת ֻצִ ֑רים ַ ֙ו ָיּ ָמ ֙ל ֶאת־ ְבֵּ ֣ני And Joshua made for himself sharp knives, and .3
ִי ְשָׂר ֵ֔אל ֶא ִל־גּ ְב ַ ֖ﬠת ָ ֽה ֲﬠָר ֽלוֹת: .circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins
ד ְוֶ ֥זה ַה ָדּ ָ ֖בר ֲא ֶשׁ ָ ֣ר־מל ְי ֻ ֑הוֹשׁ ַ ָכּ ָל־ה ָ ֣ﬠם ַהיֹּ ֵצ ֩א And this is the reason why Joshua did circumcise: All the .4 people that came out of Egypt, that were males, all the men of ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֨ר ִים ַה ְזּ ָכִ ֜רים ֣כֹּל | ַא ְנ ֵ ֣שׁי ַה ִמּ ְל ָח ָ֗מה ֵ֚מתוּ ַב ִמּ ְד ָבּ ֙ר ַבּ ֶ֔דֶּר ְבּ ֵצ ָ ֖אתם ִמ ִמּ ְצָ ֽר ִים: war, had died in the desert by the way after they came out of Egypt.
ה ִֽכּ ֻי־מ ִ ֣לים ָה֔יוּ ָכּ ָל־ה ָ ֖ﬠם ַהֽיֹּ ְצ ִ ֑אים ְו ָכ ָ֠ל־ה ָ֠ﬠם For all the people that came out were circumcised, but all .5 ַהִיּ ִ֨ דים ַבּ ִמּ ְד ָ ֥בּר ַבֶּ ֛דֶּר ְבּ ֵצ ָ ֥אתם ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֖ר ִים ל ֹא ָ ֽ־מלוּ: the people that were born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Egypt, they had not circumcised.
ו ִ ֣כּי | ַאְר ָבּ ִ ֣ﬠים ָשׁ ָ֗נה ָ ֽה ְל ֣כוּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵא֘ל ַבּ ִמּ ְד ָבּר֒ For the children of Israel walked forty years in the .6 ַﬠ ֨ ֹד־תּם ָכּ ַל־ה ֜גּוֹי ַא ְנ ֵ֚ שׁי ַה ִמּ ְל ָח ָמ ֙ה ַהֽיֹּ ְצ ִ ֣אים ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֔ר ִים wilderness, until all the people, the men of war, that came out ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ל ֹא־ ָ ֽשׁ ְמ ֖ﬠוּ ְבּ ֣קוֹל ְי ָ ֑הוֹה ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִנ ְשׁ ַ֚בּע ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ָל ֶ֔הם of Egypt, were consumed, those who did not listen to the voice ְל ִב ְל ִ֞תּי ַהְר ָ ֣אוֹתם ֶאת ָ־ה ָ֗אֶרץ ֲא ֶשׁ ֩ר ִנ ְשׁ ַ֨בּע ְי ָ֚הוֹה of the Lord, to whom the Lord had sworn that He would not ַ ֽל ֲא ָבוֹת ֙ם ָ ֣ל ֶתת ָ֔לנוּ ֶ ֛אֶרץ ָז ַ ֥בת ָח ָ ֖לב ְוּד ָ ֽבשׁ: show them the land, which the Lord had sworn to their forefathers that He would give us, a land that flows with milk and honey.
ז ְו ֶאת־ ְבּ ֵנ ֶיה ֙ם ֵהִ ֣ קים ַתּ ְח ָ֔תּם ֹא ָ ֖תם ָ ֣מל ְי ֻ ֑הוֹשׁ ַ And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them .7 ִֽכּי־ ֲﬠֵר ִ ֣לים ָה֔יוּ ִ ֛כּי ל ֹא ָ ֥־מלוּ ָ ֖אוֹתם ַבָּ ֽדֶּר : Joshua circumcised, for they had not circumcised them by the way.
ח ַו ְי ִ ֛הי ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶשׁ ַ ֥ר־תּמּוּ ָכ ַל־ה ֖גּוֹי ְל ִה ֑מּוֹל ַוֵ ֽיּ ְשׁ ֥בוּ ַת ְח ָ ֛תּם And it was, when all the people were finished being .8 ַ ֽבּ ַ ֽמּ ֲחֶ ֖נה ַ ֥ﬠד ֲח ָ ֽיוֹתם: ,circumcised, that they remained in their places in the camp until they recovered.
ט ַויּ֚ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֶאל־ ְי ֻ֔הוֹשׁ ַ ַה֗יּוֹם ַגּ ֛לּ ִוֹתי ֶאת ֶ־חְר ַ ֥פּת And the Lord said to Joshua, This day have I rolled away .9 ִמ ְצַ ֖ר ִים ֵ ֽמ ֲﬠ ֵלי ֶ ֑כם ַו ִיּ ְקָ ֞רא ֵ ֣שׁם ַה ָמּ ֚קוֹם ַה ֙הוּא ִגּ ְל ָ֔גּל ַ ֖ﬠד the reproach of Egypt from you. And he called the name of the ַה֥יּוֹם ַהֶ ֽזּה: .place Gilgal to this day
י ַוַ ֽיּ ֲח ֥נוּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ַבּ ִגּ ְלָ ֑גּל ַוַ ֽיּ ֲﬠ ֣שֹוּ ֶאת ַ־ה ֶ֡פּ ַסח And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and they .10 ְבּ ַאְר ָבּ ָﬠ ֩ה ָﬠ ָ֨שֹר ֥יוֹם ַל ֛חֹ ֶדשׁ ָבּ ֶ ֖ﬠֶרב ְבּ ַ ֽﬠְר ֥בוֹת ְיִר ֽיחוֹ: made the Passover sacrifice on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho.
יא ַו֨יּ ֹ ְאכ ֜לוּ ֵ ֽמ ֲﬠ ֥בוּר ָה ָ ֛אֶרץ ִמ ָ ֽמּ ֳחַ ֥רת ַה ֶ ֖פּ ַסח ַמ ֣צּוֹת And they ate of the grain of the land on the morrow of the .11 ְו ָק ֑לוּי ְבּ ֶ ֖ﬠ ֶצם ַה֥יּוֹם ַהֶ ֽזּה: Passover, unleavened cakes and parched grain on this very day.
יב ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ֨בֹּת ַה ָ֜מּן ִֽמ ָ ֽמּ ֳחָ ֗רת ְבּ ָא ְכ ָל ֙ם ֵ ֽמ ֲﬠ ֣בוּר ָה ָ֔אֶרץ And the manna ceased on the morrow when they ate of .12 the grain of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna ְול ֹא ָ ֥־הָיה ֛ﬠוֹד ִל ְבֵ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ָ ֑מן ַ ֽויּ ֹ ְאכ ֗לוּ ִמ ְתּ ַבוּא ֙ת ֶ ֣אֶרץ ְכּ ַ֔נ ַﬠן ַבּ ָשָּׁ ֖נה ַה ִֽהיא: anymore; and they ate of the produce of the land of Canaan that year.
יג ַו ְי ִ֗הי ִֽבּ ְה֣יוֹת ְי ֻ֘הוֹשׁ ַ֘ ִֽבּ ִיריחוֹ֒ ַו ִיּ ָ֚ שּׂא ֵﬠ ָינ ֙יו ַוַ֔יְּרא And it was when Joshua was in Jericho, that he lifted up .13 his eyes and saw, and, behold, a man was standing opposite ְו ִה ֵנּה ִ־אי ֙שׁ עֹ ֵ ֣מד ְל ֶנ ְג ֔דּוֹ ְו ַחְר ֥בּוֹ ְשׁלוּ ָ ֖פה ְבָּי ֑דוֹ ַוֵ֨יּ ֶל ְי ֻ֚הוֹשׁ ַ ֵא ָל ֙יו ַו ֣יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֔לוֹ ֲה ָ ֥לנוּ ַא ָ ֖תּה ִאם־ ְל ָצֵ ֽרינוּ: ,him with his sword drawn in his hand; and Joshua went to him and said to him, Are you for us, or for our adversaries?
יד ַו ֣יּ ֹ ֶאמר | ֗ל ֹא ִ ֛כּי ֲאִ֥ני ַשׂר־ ְצ ָ ֽבא־ ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ַﬠ ָ ֣תּה ָ ֑ב ִאתי And he said, No, but I am the captain of the host of the .14 Lord; I have now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth ַו ִיּ ֹפּ ֩ל ְי ֻ֨הוֹשׁ ַ ֶא ָל־פָּ ֥ניו ַ֙אְר ָצ ֙ה ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ָ֔תּחוּ ַו ֣יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֔לוֹ ָ ֥מה ֲאדִֹ ֖ני ְמ ַד ֵ ֥בּר ֶאל־ ַﬠ ְב ֽדּוֹ: and prostrated himself, and said to him, What does my lord say to his servant?
טו ַ֩ויּ ֹ ֶאמ ֩ר ַשׂר־ ְצ ָ֨בא ְי ָ ֜הוֹה ֶאל־ ְי ֻ֗הוֹשׁ ַ ַשׁ ַ ֽל־נ ַﬠ ְל ֙ And the captain of the Lord's host said to Joshua, Remove .15 ֵמ ַ ֣ﬠל ַר ְג ֶ֔ל ִ ֣כּי ַה ָמּ ֗קוֹם ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ַא ָ ֛תּה עֹ ֵ ֥מד ָﬠ ָ ֖ליו ֣קֹ ֶדשׁ your shoe from your foot; for the place upon which you stand is ֑הוּא ַוַ ֥יּ ַﬠשׂ ְי ֻ ֖הוֹשׁ ַ ֵ ֽכּן: .holy. And Joshua did so Joshua Chapter 6 א ִֽו ִיר ֙יחוֹ ֶ ֣סֹג ֶ רת וּ ְמ ֻס ֶ֔גֶּרת ִמ ְפֵּ ֖ני ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ֵ ֥אין And Jericho had shut its gates and was barred because of .1
ֵ ֖יוֹצא ְו ֵ ֥אין ָ ֽבּא: .the children of Israel; none went out and none came in
Joshua Chapter 6 כז ַו ְי ִ֥הי ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֶאת־ ְי ֻ ֑הוֹשׁ ַ ַו ְי ִ֥הי ָשׁ ְמ ֖ﬠוֹ ְבּ ָכ ָל־ה ָ ֽאֶרץ: So the Lord was with Joshua; and his fame was .27 throughout the entire land.
