Torah Reading for Passover VIEW READINGS FOR: SELECT A PORTION: First Day of Passover 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Maftir Haftarah Complete First Day of Passover Thursday, 15 Nissan, 5780 Complete: (Exodus 12:21-51; Numbers 28:19-25; Joshua 3:5-7; Joshua 9 April, 2020 5:2 - 6:1; Joshua 6:27) SHOW CONTENT IN: Both English Hebrew SHOW RASHI'S COMMENTARY First Portion Exodus Chapter 12 כא ַו ִיּ ְקָ ֥רא מ ֶ ֛שׁה ְל ָכל־ ִז ְקֵ ֥ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ַו ֣יּ ֹ ֶאמר ֲא ֵל ֶ ֑הם ,Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them .21 ִֽמ ְשׁ ֗כוּ ְוּק ֨חוּ ָל ֶ ֥כם ֛צ ֹאן ְל ִמ ְשׁ ְפּ ֽחֹ ֵתי ֶ ֖כם ְו ַ ֽשׁ ֲח ֥טוּ Draw forth or buy for yourselves sheep for your families and" ַה ָ ֽפּ ַסח: .slaughter the Passover sacrifice כב ְוּל ַק ְח ֶ֞תּם ֲא ֻגַ ֣דּת ֵא֗זוֹב ְוּט ַב ְל ֶתּם֘ ַבָּ ֣דּם ֲא ֶשׁר־ ַבּ ַסּ ֒ף And you shall take a bunch of hyssop and immerse [it] in .22 ְו ִה ַגּ ְﬠ ֶ ֤תּם ֶא ַל־ה ַמּ ְשׁ ֙קוֹף ְו ֶאל־ ְשׁ ֵ ֣תּי ַה ְמּ ֔זוּזֹת ִמ ַן־ה ָ ֖דּם the blood that is in the basin, and you shall extend to the lintel ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ַבּ ָ ֑סּף ְו ַא ֶ֗תּם ֥ל ֹא ֵ ֽת ְצ ֛אוּ ִ֥אישׁ ִמ ֶ ֽפּ ַתח־ ֵבּי ֖תוֹ and to the two doorposts the blood that is in the basin, and you shall not go out, any man from the entrance of his house until ַﬠד־ ֽבֹּ ֶקר: morning. כג ְו ָﬠ ַ ֣בר ְי ָהוֹ ֘ה ִל ְנ ֣ ֹגּף ֶאת ִ־מ ְצַ ֒ר ִי ֒ם ְוָר ָ ֤אה ֶאת ַ־ה ָדּ ֙ם The Lord will pass to smite the Egyptians, and He will see .23 ַﬠ ַל־ה ַמּ ְשׁ ֔קוֹף ְו ַ ֖ﬠל ְשׁ ֵ ֣תּי ַה ְמּ ֑זוּזֹת וּ ָפ ַ ֤סח ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, and the Lord ַﬠ ַל־ה ֶ֔פּ ַתח ְו ֤ל ֹא ִי ֵ ֙תּן ַה ַמּ ְשׁ ִ֔חית ָל ֥ב ֹא ֶאל־ ָ ֽבּ ֵתּי ֶ ֖כם will pass over the entrance, and He will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses to smite [you]. ִל ְנ ֽ ֹגּף: כד ְוּשׁ ַמְר ֶ ֖תּם ֶאת ַ־ה ָדּ ָ ֣בר ַהֶ ֑זּה ְל ָחק־ ְל ֥ ְוּל ָבֶ ֖ני And you shall keep this matter as a statute for you and for .24 ַﬠד־ ָ ֽעוֹלם: .your children forever Second Portion Exodus Chapter 12 כה ְו ָהָ֞יה ִֽכּ ָי־ת ֣בֹאוּ ֶא ָל־ה ָ֗אֶרץ ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִי ֵ ֧תּן ְי ָ ֛הוֹה ָל ֶ ֖כם And it shall come to pass when you enter the land that the .25 ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ִדּ ֵ ֑בּר ְוּשׁ ַמְר ֶ ֖תּם ֶאת ָ ֽ־ה ֲﬠבָֹ ֥דה ַה ֽזּ ֹאת: Lord will give you, as He spoke, that you shall observe this service. כו ְו ָהָ֕יה ִכּי־ ֽי ֹ ְאמ ֥רוּ ֲא ֵלי ֶ ֖כם ְבּ ֵני ֶ ֑כם ָ ֛מה ָ ֽה ֲﬠבָֹ ֥דה And it will come to pass if your children say to you, What is .26 ַה ֖זּ ֹאת ָל ֶ ֽכם: ?this service to you כז ַ ֽו ֲא ַמְר ֶ֡תּם ֶ ֽז ַבח ֶ֨־פּ ַסח ֜הוּא ַ ֽל ָ ֗יהוֹה ֲא ֶ ֣שׁר ָ֠פּ ַ ֠סח you shall say, It is a Passover sacrifice to the Lord, for He .27 passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when ַﬠל־ ָבּ ֵ ֤תּי ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵא ֙ל ְבּ ִמ ְצַ ֔ר ִים ְבּ ָנ ְג ֥פּוֹ ֶאת ִ־מ ְצַ ֖ר ִים ְו ֶאת־ ָבּ ֵ ֣תּינוּ ִה ִ ֑צּיל ַו ִיּ ֥קֹּד ָה ָ ֖ﬠם ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ַ ֽתּ ֲחֽווּ: He smote the Egyptians, and He saved our houses. And the people kneeled and prostrated themselves. כח ַוֵ ֽיּ ְל ֥כוּ ַוַ ֽיּ ֲﬠ ֖שׂוּ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִצָ ֧וּה ְי ָ ֛הוֹה So the children of Israel went and did; as the Lord .28 ֶאת־מ ֶ ֥שׁה ְו ַ ֽא ֲה ֖רֹן ֵ ֥כּן ָﬠ ֽשׂוּ: .commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did Third Portion Exodus Chapter 12 כט ַו ְי ִ ֣הי | ַ ֽבּ ֲח ִ ֣צי ַה ַ֗לּ ְי ָלה ַ ֽו ָיהוֹ ֘ה ִה ָ ֣כּה ָכל־ ְבּ ֘כוֹר It came to pass at midnight, and the Lord smote every .29 firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who ְבּ ֶ ֣אֶרץ ִמ ְצַ ֒ר ִי ֒ם ִמ ְבּ ֤כֹר ַפְּרעֹ ֙ה ַהיּ ֵ ֣שׁב ַﬠ ִל־כּ ְס ֔אוֹ ַ֚ﬠד ְבּ ֣כוֹר ַה ְשּׁ ִ֔בי ֲא ֶ ֖שׁר ְבּ ֵ ֣בית ַה ֑בּוֹר ְו ֖כֹל ְבּ ֥כוֹר ְבּ ֵה ָ ֽמה: sits on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who is in the dungeon, and every firstborn animal. ל ַוָ֨יּ ָקם ַפְּר ֜עֹה ַ֗ל ְי ָלה ֤הוּא ְו ָכל־ ֲﬠ ָב ָד ֙יו ְו ָכ ִל־מ ְצַ ֔ר ִים And Pharaoh arose at night, he and all his servants and all .30 ַו ְתּ ִ ֛הי ְצ ָﬠָ ֥ קה ְגדָֹ ֖לה ְבּ ִמ ְצָ ֑ר ִים ִכּ ֵ ֣י־אין ַ֔בִּית ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר the Egyptians, and there was a great outcry in Egypt, for there ֵ ֽאין־ ָ ֖שׁם ֵ ֽמת: .was no house in which no one was dead לא ַו ִיּ ְקָר ֩א ְלמ ֶ֨שׁה ְוּל ַ ֽא ֲה ֜רֹן ַ֗ל ְי ָלה ַו֨יּ ֹ ֶאמ ֙ר ֤קוּמוּ ֙צּאוּ ,So he called for Moses and Aaron at night, and he said .31 "Get up and get out from among my people, both you, as well ִמ ֣תּוֹ ַﬠ ִ֔מּי ַגּ ַם־א ֶ ֖תּם ַגּם־ ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֑אל ְוּל ֛כוּ ִﬠ ְב ֥דוּ ֶאת־ ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ְכּ ַד ֶבְּר ֶ ֽכם: as the children of Israel, and go, worship the Lord as you have spoken. לב ַגּם־ ֽצ ֹ ְאנ ֶ֨כם ַגּם־ ְבּ ַקְר ֶ ֥כם ְק ֛חוּ ַ ֽכּ ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ִדּ ַבְּר ֶ ֖תּם Take also your flocks and also your cattle, as you have .32 ָו ֵ ֑לכוּ וּ ֵ ֽבַר ְכ ֶ ֖תּם ַגּ ֹם־א ִֽתי: ".spoken, and go, but you shall also bless me לג ַו ֶ ֽתּ ֱחַ ֤זק ִמ ְצַ ֨ר ִי ֙ם ַﬠ ָל־ה ָ֔ﬠם ְל ַמ ֵ ֖הר ְל ַשׁ ְלּ ָ ֣חם So the Egyptians took hold of the people to hasten to send .33 ִמ ָן־ה ָ ֑אֶרץ ִ֥כּי ָ ֽא ְמ ֖רוּ ֻכּ ָ ֥לּנוּ ֵמ ִֽתים: ".them out of the land, for they said, "We are all dead לד ַו ִיּ ָ ֥שּׂא ָה ָ ֛ﬠם ֶאת־ ְבּ ֵצ ֖קוֹ ֶ ֣טֶרם ֶי ְח ָ ֑מץ ִמ ְשׁ ֲארֹ ָ ֛תם The people picked up their dough when it was not yet .34 ְצֻר ֥רֹת ְבּ ִשׂ ְמ ָ ֖תם ַﬠל־ ִשׁ ְכ ָ ֽמם: leavened, their leftovers bound in their garments on their shoulders. לה וּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֥אל ָﬠ ֖שׂוּ ִכּ ְד ַ ֣בר מ ֶ ֑שׁה ַו ִיּ ְשׁ ֲא ֙לוּ ,And the children of Israel did according to Moses' order .35 ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֔ר ִים ְכּ ֵל ֶ ֛י־כ ֶסף וּ ְכ ֵ ֥לי ָז ָ ֖הב ְוּשׂ ָמ ֽת: and they borrowed from the Egyptians silver objects, golden objects, and garments. לו ַ ֽו ָ ֞יהוֹה ָנ ַ֨תן ֶאת ֵ ֥־חן ָה ָ ֛ﬠם ְבּ ֵﬠ ֵ ֥יני ִמ ְצַ ֖ר ִים ַו ַיּ ְשׁ ִא ֑לוּם The Lord gave the people favor in the eyes of the .36 ַו ְי ַנ ְצּ ֖לוּ ֶאת ִ־מ ְצָ ֽר ִים: .Egyptians, and they lent them, and they emptied out Egypt Fourth Portion Exodus Chapter 12 לז ַו ִיּ ְס ֧ﬠוּ ְבֵ ֽני־ ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֛אל ֵ ֽמַר ְﬠ ְמ ֵ ֖סס ֻס ֑כֹּ ָתה The children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to .37 ְכּ ֵ ֽשׁ ֵשׁ־מ ֨אוֹת ֶ ֧א ֶלף ַר ְגִ ֛לי ַה ְגּ ָבִ ֖רים ְל ַבד ִמ ָ ֽטּף: Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot, the men, besides the young children. לח ְו ַגם־ ֵ ֥ﬠֶרב ַ ֖רב ָﬠ ָ ֣לה ִא ָ ֑תּם ְו ֣צ ֹאן וּ ָב ָ֔קר ִמ ְקֶ ֖נה And also, a great mixed multitude went up with them, and .38 ָכּ ֵ ֥בד ְמ ֽ ֹאד: .flocks and cattle, very much livestock לט ַויּ ֹ ֨אפוּ ֶאת ַ־ה ָבּ ֵ֜צק ֲא ֶ֨שׁר ִ ֧הוֹציאוּ ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֛ר ִים ֻﬠ ֥ ֹגת They baked the dough that they had taken out of Egypt as .39 unleavened cakes, for it had not leavened, for they were driven ַמ ֖צּוֹת ִ ֣כּי ֣ל ֹא ָח ֵ ֑מץ ִכּ ֽ ֹי־גְר ֣שׁוּ ִמ ִמּ ְצַ ֗ר ִים ְו ֤ל ֹא ָ ֽי ְכ ֙לוּ ְל ִה ְת ַמ ְה ֵ֔מַ ְו ַגם־ ֵצ ָ ֖דה ֽל ֹא־ ָﬠ ֥שׂוּ ָל ֶ ֽהם: out of Egypt, and they could not tarry, and also, they had not made provisions for themselves. מ וּ ַמוֹשׁ ֙ב ְבֵּ ֣ני ִי ְשָׂר ֵ֔אל ֲא ֶ ֥שׁר ָ ֽי ְשׁ ֖בוּ ְבּ ִמ ְצָ ֑ר ִים ְשׁ ִ ֣לשׁים And the habitation of the children of Israel, that they .40 ָשׁ ָ֔נה ְו ַאְר ַ ֥בּע ֵמ ֖אוֹת ָשָׁ ֽנה: .dwelled in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years מא ַו ְי ִ֗הי ִמ ֵקּ ֙ץ ְשׁ ִ ֣לשׁים ָשׁ ָ֔נה ְו ַאְר ַ ֥בּע ֵמ ֖אוֹת ָשָׁ ֑נה ,It came to pass at the end of four hundred and thirty years .41 ַו ְי ִ֗הי ְבּ ֶ֨ﬠ ֶצ ֙ם ַה֣יּוֹם ַה ֶ֔זּה ָ ֽי ְצ ֛אוּ ָכּל־ ִצ ְב ֥אוֹת ְי ָ ֖הוֹה ֵמ ֶ ֥אֶרץ and it came to pass in that very day, that all the legions of the ִמ ְצָ ֽר ִים: .Lord went out of the land of Egypt מב ֵ ֣ליל ִשׁ ֻמִּ֥רים ֙הוּא ַ ֽל ָ ֔יהוֹה ְל ֽה ִוֹצ ָ ֖יאם ֵמ ֶ ֣אֶרץ It is a night of anticipation for the Lord, to take them out of .42 ִמ ְצָ ֑ר ִים ֽהוּא ַ־ה ַ ֤לּ ְי ָלה ַה ֶזּ ֙ה ַ ֽל ָ ֔יהוֹה ִשׁ ֻמִּ ֛רים ְל ָכל־ ְבֵּ ֥ני the land of Egypt; this night is the Lord's, guarding all the ִי ְשָׂר ֵ ֖אל ְל ֽדֹרֹ ָ ֽתם: .children of Israel throughout their generations Fifth Portion Exodus Chapter 12 מג ַו ֤יּ ֹ ֶאמר ְי ָהוֹ ֙ה ֶאל־מ ֶ ֣שׁה ְו ַ ֽא ֲה ֔רֹן ֖ז ֹאת ֻחַ ֣קּת The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the statute of .43 ַה ָ ֑פּ ַסח ָכּל־ ֶבּ ֵן־נ ָ ֖כר ל ֹא־ ֥י ֹ ַאכל ֽבּוֹ: .the Passover sacrifice: No estranged one may partake of it מד ְו ָכל־ ֶ ֥ﬠ ֶבד ִ ֖אישׁ ִמ ְק ַנת ָ ֑־כּ ֶסף וּ ַמ ְל ָ ֣תּה ֹא ֔תוֹ ָ ֖אז And every man's slave, purchased for his money you shall .44 ֥י ֹ ַאכל ֽבּוֹ: .circumcise him; then he will be permitted to partake of it מה ָ ֥תּוֹשׁב ְו ָשׂ ִ ֖כיר ל ֹא־ ֥י ֹ ַאכל ֽבּוֹ: .A sojourner or a hired hand may not partake of it .45 מו ְבּ ַ ֤בִית ֶא ָח ֙ד ֵ ֽי ָא ֵ֔כל ֽל ֹא ִ ֧־תוֹציא ִמ ַן־ה ַ ֛בִּית It must be eaten in one house; you shall not take any of .46 ִמ ַן־ה ָבּ ָ ֖שׂר ֑ח ָוּצה ְו ֶ ֖ﬠ ֶצם ֥ל ֹא ִת ְשׁ ְבּרוּ־ ֽבוֹ: the meat out of the house to the outside, neither shall you break any of its bones.
