Preparatory Extramural Programme Term 1 Preparatory Extramural Programme SUMMER 2020 Term 1 Dear All, Welcome back! We look forward to a successful 2020. At Bridge House, we see sporting and cultural activities as an extension of the classroom. In addition to offering a wide variety of activities, we strive to create learning opportunities in everything we do. Skills such as teamwork, respect, and grit seen on the sports fields or cultural venues will strengthen our children’s ability to progress in the classroom, and in life. The prep sports team have workshopped the current state of our offering, and worked hard to address areas that can be improved on. We hope this will be evident as the term progresses, and that your children are instilled with a lifelong love for outdoor activity. We continue to look at ways in which we can improve our pupils’ introduction to sport, and their development within the games. Regular participation in competitive fixturing is another focus area, along with additional opportunities for our youngsters to play, and to be extended when needed. Last year we initiated the Sports Forum, whereby parents and staff discuss various aspects of our extra mural offering, looking at further ways to grow our offering. If you do have a particular interest in a sporting code, and would like to be part of these discussions, please do let us know. On the Cultural front, we look forward to even more involvement in the sessions available to our boys and girls. Not often can one play a game of tennis, and programme a robot in one afternoon. We also continue with Dance as part of our Cultural offering, with afternoon sessions with Mrs Liebenberg. I encourage everyone to get involved, and to make the most of what is on offer. I am always so grateful to Mrs Du Plessis and Mr Van der Rheede for all the time and effort they put into compiling a jam-packed term of fixtures. I know that our youngsters will do us proud, with a “Can Do” attitude to everything they do. All the best for an exciting and active start to 2020. BRIDGE HOUSE PRE-PRIMARY · PREPARATORY · COLLEGE P R E P N E W S Issue 35 www.bridgehouse.org.za 6 November 2015 Grade 7 Farewell The highlight of the Grade 7 year is, without doubt, the Grade 7 Farewell. This is traditionally an opportunity or parents, teachers and pupils to celebrate our Grade 7s’ readiness for their transition into the College, and to reminisce about their time in the Prep. Our 2015 Grade 7 Farewell was a memorable and beautiful occasion touched with special moments in a tropical island atmosphere. Our MCs for the evening were Jeanne Blaisse and Teubes van Niekerk. They also delivered the Grade 7 Farewell Address on behalf of their peers, and spoke with fondness of the highlights, the people, and all that went into making their experience in Bridge House Prep so unforgettable. Katja van Dyk and Lloyd Phillips gave the vote of thanks and then invited their mums and dads to join them on the dance floor in the traditional “first waltz” of the evening. Our heartfelt thanks go to all who contributed to making the evening exceptional, and special mention must be made of our Grade 6 waitrons who acquitted themselves so professionally.
