SPORT RESULTS FOR THE WEEK OF 2 MARCH CRICKET RESULTS VS SOMERSET COLLEGE u/14A Parel Vallei won the toss and selected to bat first. We bowled Somerset College out for 65 runs. Good bowling by Liam Davies, Josh Comway, Alec Botha 2 wickets each and John du Plessis who took 3 wickets. PV then went into bat and passed there score with 3 wickets down therefore winning the game by 7 wickets. Good batting by Justin Carlisle 20 not out. The u/14 side ended their season unbeaten! Well done U14 and keep this momentum going into the rugby and hockey season. O/15 A Parel Vallei het die loot gewen en 1ste gekolf. PV is 116 almal uit na 31 boulbeurte. Muneer Kahn scoring 29 runs and Matthew Du Plessis scoring 28 runs. We lost the game in the final over losing the game by 2 wickets. u/19B Somerset College won the toss and chose to bowl first, PV was bowled out for 75 runs after 30 overs. College went in and won the game by 8 wickets Ist Team Cricket vs Somerset College PV won the toss and put Somerset College in to bat. Unfortunately, after having them 222/9, PV could not get the last wicket and Somerset College managed to score 310/9. The best bowlers were Harlan Greig with 85/4 and Robert Klopstra with 2/19. This was a very big total to chase and PV were bowled out twice by a very strong bowling attack and outstanding fielding. Unfortunately we could not take the game into the third day and handed College a fairly easy victory. CHESS Of the 10 PV learners who took part in the District East Chess Trials, 6 were selected to attend the WP Chess Trials. HORSE RIDING – ENDURANCE RIDING Ilse Erasmus took part in an endurance race this weekend. She completed her first 120km and came 2nd in her category. Her horse, Rigby also won the veterinarian prize for Best Condition. During the second leg of the race her stirrup leather broke and she rode the rest of the 30km leg with only one stirrup. She also won a saddle from Leon Livesage saddles for her tenacity and guts to carry on. Congratulations Ilse! RUGBY RESULTS The Parel Vallei u/19 squad played a warm up match against premier league school, Stellenberg on Friday evening. The boys showed courage and commitment that embodied Bulldog rugby. Keep in mind we only took 21 boys, cricket players were not available, and with 3 practices leading up to the game, Parel Vallei rugby held their head high and never backed down for the full 70 minutes. This coming Friday evening we invite all pupils and teachers to support out a now full strength first 15, as they take on HTS Bellville at the Friday night lights tournament at the Kuilsriver rugby club. GOLF Our first team lost by only four shots against Boys High from Paarl. Craig Black once again evened the best score of the day with 37 shots. The bedt player for the second team was Maxine Smet. Today the golfers take on Paul Roos. On Friday they will be leaving on tour to Langebaan where they will be playing against a team from the West Coast. TWEEKAMP STER Annissa Koekemoer het aan die WP tweekamp-kampioenskappe deelgeneem en ‘n silwermedalje verower. Sy is ingesluit in die WP span wat 4 April by Coetzenburg aan die SA Kampioenskappe sal deelneem. TENNIS Baie geluk aan Johannes van As wat aan die Stellenbosch Wilson tennistoernooi in Stellenbosch deelgeneem het. Hy het ‘n derde plek in die 0/16 afdeling gewen. TENNISUITSLAE Dogters : 0.15A verloor Somerset College 1 -5 0.15B gelykop Stellenbosch 3 – 3 Seuns: 0.15 A klop Paarl Gimnasium 4 – 2 Hierdie is ‘n uitstekende oorwinning vir ons 0.15 A seuns. Baie geluk aan Cameron Slabbert, Jannick Klein, Johannes van As en Gerhard Pieterse. U/19A GIRLS HOCKEY Our first team played in the first round of the SPAR knock out tournament that was held in Paarl on Saturday. A rusty side beat Bridgehouse by 2 goals to 0.
