Val Gardena. the HOLIDAY VALLEY of the Dolomites Suggestions for booking a room in Val Gardena This catalogue only features members of the Tourist Associations of Val Gardena, and is therefore not a complete listing of the accommodation facilities in the area. Booking conditions The Tourist Office is fully informed as to the availability of beds and can be of help to you with any of your questions. However, the booking must be made di- grafik & konzept: www.lucerna.it rectly with the accommodation facility of your choice. On booking, a deposit equal to the cost of three days (for apartments: approx. 30% of the entire cost) must be paid. In the case of cancellation, delayed arrival or anticipated departure, this deposit will not be refunded. Furthermore, there may even be a request for payment of damages on behalf of the accommodation facility. For any litigation the competent court is that of Bolzano and the valid Italian laws will be applied. For phone information regarding room availability please call from Monday to Satur- day from 8am to 7pm, or use the 24 hour service on our website www.valgardena.it Prices The prices shown in this price list were given to us by the accommodation facilities in March 2010 and are to be considered per person per day in double room for a stay of at least 3 days (surcharge for suites). For apartments the price listed is per week (although the apartments may be booked for shorter periods). The price range (min.- max.) depends on the period and the fittings in the rooms or apartments, the prices include service and VAT (at present 10%). When booking an apartment, it is advisable to verify the cost of final cleaning and linen. Extra services such as sauna, solarium, garage, etc. may be calculated separately. Val Gardena Marketing is not liable for any errors in the catalogue.     Campitello – 5 Day Ski Itinerary Easy Medium Hard Day 1: The Local Fields - Grade: From either Campitello or Canazei ski lifts explore the local ski areas of Col Rodella (Campitello) and Belvedere (Canazei). Both fields offer intermediate terrain with a few steep sections that are easy to see. There are some wonderful long runs with the best being the run to the valley from the cable car at Col Rodella. You can ski to the village of Canazei from both fields. If you want to follow the sun, it is best to ski Col Rodella in the morning and Belvedere in the afternoon. Both ski areas are connected by a telecabine (lift numbers 155 and 105) and so access is easy. Highlights The skiing: From Belvedere make sure you ski down to the Pordoi pass and take the lift to Sass Pordoi for a spectacular view of the dolomites. Sass Pordoi featured in the film Cliff Hanger. You should not ski down from here – all of the runs from the top are off piste, unpatrolled and extremely dangerous. Take the cable car back down and ski. Eating: There are a number of great places to eat on the mountain. Our favourites are Tita Piaz and Ciampolin at Belvedere and Rifugio Des Alpes and Salei on Col Rodella. Stop before 1pm to beat the crowds – Italians religiously stop for lunch at this time. Apres Ski: The round bar at Des Alpes in the afternoon. If you're skiing back to Canazei, make sure you leave before the slopes close. Day 2: Ski Val Gardena - Grade: Val Gardena – the home of the world cup downhill piste is also an easy first tour from the Fassa Valley.

    THE THIN LINE: Life on the Edge Skier Biographies BODE MILLER Bode Miller burst onto the World Cup scene as an 18-year-old in 1996 and first gained widespread recognition when he won two silver medals at the 2002 Winter Olympics in the Giant Slalom and Combined events. Miller has won a total of four gold medals and one silver medal at the World Championships. In the 2004/2005 Season, Miller won his first overall FIS World Cup title, outlasting Austrian Benjamin Raich. In the 2006/07 Season, Miller finished 4th overall and won the Super G title. In May 2007, Miller announced that he was leaving the U.S. Ski Team to race as an independent. PICABO STREET One of the most prolific women’s racers to ever grace the U.S. Ski Team, Picabo Street was most definitely a ski racing personality. The native of tiny Triumph, Idaho announced her retirement from competition following the 2002 women’s Olympic downhill at Snowbasin, Utah, ending a career that included nine career World Cup victories, the 1995 and 1996 World Cup downhill discipline titles and a trio of World Championships medals to go along with her two Olympic medals, including the Super-G gold at the 1998 Nagano Games. In addition, Street collected a total of four U.S. National titles during her illustrious career, despite being injured and away from ski racing for two years. DARON RAHLVES Daron Rahlves is the most decorated American Downhill and Super G skier in history. He has won 12 World Cup races and 28 World Cup podium finishes, seven U.S.

    European Journal of Sustainable Development (2016), 5, 3, 489-504 ISSN: 2239-5938 Doi: 10.14207/ejsd.2016.v5n3p489 Determinants of waste generation per capita in Catalonia (North-eastern Spain): the role of seasonal population Òscar Saladié1 Abstract Seasonal population is not taken into account in waste management policies and regional differences in waste generation per capita are magnified. Here I analyze the differences among the Catalan counties (North-eastern Spain) and I compare the results if seasonal population is added or not to the resident people. Waste generation per capita in tourist areas is overestimated and actually the differences among the counties are lower than those indicated in the official data. Only reliable data will allow determining the reasons of differences in waste generation per capita and stablishing more precise objectives in waste management policies. There is a positive correlation between municipal waste generation per capita and the services sector’s contribution to GDP, a negative correlation with the percentage of population over 64 and no correlation with income per capita. Finally, taking into account territorial factors, the lowest waste generation per capita corresponds to counties with very low population densities located in inland Catalonia. Introduction There are broad typologies of waste, all with varying behaviour related to environmental agents, potential evolution over time and impacts on environment and human health. The natural ecosystem’s capacity to receive and incorporate waste is limited, and exceeding it can become a serious environmental problem. Waste can be harmful to human health and animal and plant life and may also affect soil, ground water and air quality, including global warming and inadequate management can compromise the sustainability of our development.
