“Our Heritage”

We will be going through the Spiritual Formation Study until the end of the quarter in August. In the Church of the Nazarene, we believe all Christians should consider themselves ministers of Christ and seek to know the will of God concerning their appropriate avenues of service. Any person attending the Church of the Nazarene who feels called by God to fulfill a specialized ministry as a layperson, but does not necessarily profess a call to preach or to full-time ministry is encouraged to participate Stan Melvin in this journey. “Spiritual Formation” Roger Unruh meets with his group on Sunday mornings @ 9:30am. Roger Unruh and Steve Long are available to meet with you on Wednesday nights @ 7pm, or you may do this study on your own and/or do this study to then become a mentor to others. God wants you to grow up: “We are not meant to remain as children” (Ephesians 4:14 Phillips). Your heavenly Father’s goal for you is to mature and develop the characteristics of Jesus Christ, living a life of love and humble service. Sadly, countless Christians grow older but never grow up. What are the beatitudes? The Beatitudes are eight blessings recounted by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. The beatitudes, statements of characteristics and blessing, are part of the Sermon on the Mount that Jesus spoke and is recorded in Matthew. Each beatitude looks at different circumstances of life and how all Christians are blessed through their faith. Through these 8 beatitudes, Jesus teaches of virtues and values in life that will result in blessings and rewards. These Scriptures will Jeff encourage you and give you hope as you face each day knowing that you are called Crist blessed! No matter your age, job, or family role, if you apply the beatitudes to your life you will experience a joyful, fulfilled life! Melvin and Maxine Neufeld are leading a life group at their home on Sunday evenings at 6pm. All ages are welcome. Participants are responsible for their own child care. John and Stacy Geil will be meeting with their group at the Garden City Campus in Classroom 6 on Sunday evenings, from 6:00-7:30pm. Their motto is “When life happens, my anchor holds in Jesus.” They want to connect with others who feel that in all life’s circumstances, our anchor holds firm if it is in Jesus. Participants are responsible for their own child care. Edgar Hinojos is leading a multi-generational small group on Tuesdays @ 6:00pm at the Garden City Campus in Classroom 5. Childcare will be provided at the church. Cassie Curl is leading a life group on Tuesday evenings, at 6pm at the Garden City Campus in Classroom 1. Childcare will be provided at the church. Steve and Patricia Long are leading their small group at the Garden City Campus on Sundays, from 12:15-2:00pm. Participants are responsible for their own child care.

Kids Quizzing will be lead by Diana Yost this year. The kids will be studying the book of Genesis. If you are interested in quizzing, please see either Pastor Choiseul or Diana Yost if you have questions. Practices will begin Sunday, August 18th, from 5-6:30pm.
