Specifications Series Title Suicide Squad. Fans of the movie are going to be very disappointed when they turn to the comics to get more of their Suicide Squad fix. Also, her usual or annoying one- track ruthless or icy nature is also possibly tempered by fatigue. I would still read this series. Waller and Vic Sage. Is this normal and expected of Suicide Squad? Captain Boomerang; sure, why not? Harley is still cool in this, so that's a plus. I will be the first to say that I would never ever work on a team with Deathstroke. Scott Hanna Illustrator ,. These are the themes explored in an exciting adventure. Half of this team are removed after the first story arc because they just don't fit with the team dynamic, and replaced with more interesting members like Looking at the front cover for this book, you'd think DC had hit all the right notes. See our disclaimer. What I did like was how Harley shows that she has gotten closure on her dysfunct Pure Insanity is a good name for this book. -

“INFINITE EARTHS”: CROSSMEDIA ADAPTATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONTINUITY IN THE DC ANIMATED UNIVERSE Alex Nader A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS May 2015 Committee: Jeff Brown, Advisor Becca Cragin © 2015 Alexander Nader All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Jeff Brown, Advisor This thesis examines the process of adapting comic book properties into other visual media. I focus on the DC Animated Universe, the popular adaptation of DC Comics characters and concepts into all-ages programming. This adapted universe started with Batman: The Animated Series and comprised several shows on multiple networks, all of which fit into a shared universe based on their comic book counterparts. The adaptation of these properties is heavily reliant to intertextuality across DC Comics media. The shared universe developed within the television medium acted as an early example of comic book media adapting the idea of shared universes, a process that has been replicated with extreme financial success by DC and Marvel (in various stages of fruition). I address the process of adapting DC Comics properties in television, dividing it into “strict” or “loose” adaptations, as well as derivative adaptations that add new material to the comic book canon. This process was initially slow, exploding after the first series (Batman: The Animated Series) changed networks and Saturday morning cartoons flourished, allowing for more opportunities for producers to create content. References, crossover episodes, and the later series Justice League Unlimited allowed producers to utilize this shared universe to develop otherwise impossible adaptations that often became lasting additions to DC Comics publishing. -

This led them to an absorption with the Jewish creation myths in Genesis, which they obsessively reinterpreted to formulate allegorical explanations of how humans ended up trapped in the world of matter. The basic Gnostic story, which varied in details from teacher to teacher, was this: In the beginning there was an unknowable, immaterial, and invisible God, sometimes called the Father of All and sometimes by other names. “He” was neither male nor female, and was composed of an implicitly finite amount of a living nonphysical substance. Surrounding this God was a great empty region called the Pleroma (the fullness). Beyond the Pleroma lay empty space. The God acted to fill the Pleroma through a series of emanations, a squeezing off of small portions of his/its nonphysical energetic divine material. In most accounts there are thirty emanations in fifteen complementary pairs, each getting slightly less of the divine material and therefore being slightly weaker. The emanations are called Aeons (eternities) and are mostly named personifications in Greek of abstract ideas. -

Baker, PhD Texas A&M University-Commerce, 2017 Advisor: Christopher Gonzalez, PhD Superhero comic books provide a unique perspective on marginalized characters not only as objects of literary study, but also as opportunities for rhetorical analysis. There are representations of race, gender, sexuality, and identity in the costuming of superheroes that impact how the audience perceives the characters. Because of the association between iconography and identity, the superhero costume becomes linked with the superhero persona (for example the Superman “S” logo is a stand-in for the character). However, when iconography is affected by issues of tokenism, the rhetorical message associated with the symbol becomes more difficult to decode. Since comic books are sales-oriented and have a plethora of tie-in merchandise, the iconography in these symbols has commodified implications for those who choose to interact with them. When consumers costume themselves with the visual rhetoric associated with comic superheroes, the wearers engage in a rhetorical discussion where they perpetuate whatever message the audience places on that image. -

Jesus Christ The Real Superhero All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13 Do YOU like Superheroes? How many of you have seen a movie or a cartoon about a superhero? Who here likes Superman? Who likes Spiderman? Is there anyone here who likes Batman? Those are just a few of the most popular superheroes. But these super heroes are all just characters on TV and in books. There is one REAL Superhero who actually lived on Earth just like you and me, and His name is JESUS! TEACHERS: Remember to make it fun and interactive. Go as slow as you need to. The early objective is to distinguish between fictional superheroes (like Superman) and a real life superhero (Jesus Christ). Please feel free to refer to the scriptures (in the boxes at the bottom of each page) to add meaning and depth to your lessons, especially for the older children. THE JESUS SUPERHERO STORY You might know that God is the creator of all things -- the earth, the moon, the stars, the sun, the sky, the trees, the animals, and the entire universe… But did you know God has a son?
