As many sales saw prices decline this year due to COVID-19-related restrictions, Indiana actually saw an uptick in sale prices for the year. Several new stallions were introduced into the state this year with the first crop of JK Endofanera producing 58 starters from 88 registered foals. His top two-year-old of the year was JK Going West, winner of the Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final and fourth place finisher in the Breeders Crown Championships. Guided by trainer LeWayne Miller, JK Going West earned in excess of $260,000 and took a mark of 1:51.0. Joining him as the other top freshman of the year was What’s Your Beef from the Brian Brown barn. The colt earned in excess of $175,000 and took a mark of 1:51.3. Because of the progress of the first crop from JK Endofanera, the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale produced the highest priced Indiana sired seller ever at the 2020 sale. JK’s Speed, a colt from the Victory Hill Farm consignment, garnered a purchase price of $240,000 to set the new record. In all, the sale recorded a 6.5 percent increase over the previous year with yearling prices averaging $19,202. The powerhouse trio of Rockin Image, Always a Virgin and Swan for All continue to lead the way in the Indiana breeding industry. All part of the lineup at Victory Hill Farm in LaGrange, Ind., the trio’s success has extended well beyond the boundaries of racing in Indiana. They have established themselves as proven stallions in the industry. Swan for All, Always a Virgin, Helpisontheway, Here Comes Herbie, and Carlson remain the highest priced stallion fees in the state at $6,000. As racing moves into a new year in 2021, several new stallions will be represented by first crops of racing age when action gets underway. Luck Be Withyou, Crescent Fashion, Dover Dan, Major Athens, World Cup, Odds on Equuleus, Text Me and Muscle Massive are just a few that already have foals in training for the upcoming 2021 racing season. Stallions debuting their first crop at the sales in the fall of 2021 include You Know You Do, Check Six, Carlson, Helpisontheway, and Smoother Ride. In all, a total of 97 stallions are registered with the Indiana Standardbred Breed Development in 2020 for foals of 2021.
