W niewielkim obiekcie o pow. ok. 2 ha odnotowano występowanie rzadkich owadów saproksylicznych, jak Anitys ru- bens, Elater ferrugineus, Osmoderma barnabita i Gnorimus nobilis. Przedyskutowano znaczenie obiektu dla zachowania fauny saproksylicznej. In the small park (area of ca. 2 ha) several endangered species were found, including Anitys rubens, Elater ferrugineus, Osmoderma barna- bita and Gnorimus nobilis. Significance of the area for preservation of saproxylic fauna is discussed. -

Species Composition of Coleoptera Families Associated with Live and Dead Wood in a Large Norway Spruce Plantation in Denmark
Species composition of Coleoptera families associated with live and dead wood in a large Norway spruce plantation in Denmark Jens Reddersen & Thomas Secher Jensen Reddersen, J. & T.S. Jensen: Species composition of Coleoptera familites as sociated with live og dead wood in a large Norway spruce plantation in Den mark. Ent. Meddr. 71: 115-128: Copenhagen, Denmark, 2003. ISSN 0013-8851. For decades, the idea of various biotope types hosting unique plant and ani mal species associations and thus forming well-delimited species communities have continuously been debated. At any rate, it remains a practical empirical working concept in intensively exploited mosaic landscapes like in Denmark where biotope fragments are distinctly separated by man-made borders. In Denmark, conifer plantations dominated by Norway spruce, Picea abies L. con stitute such a well-delimited biotope type - at the same time widely distributed and with an insect fauna only poorly known. In two years, 1980-81, in Gludsted Plantation, Central Jutland, the arthro pod fauna was studied in six stands of mature well-tended Norway spruce on poor sandy acidic soils. A variety of sampling methods was employed with a minimum of four white bucket traps and two tray traps on the ground in each stand. In both years in some stands, ground emergence traps were set up as well as vertical series of white buckets in canopies at mean levels 6.6, 10.6 and 13.2 m. Additional sampling comprised vertical sticky trap series in canopies, sweep net sampling in low branches and winter bark search. Ground beetles, sawflies and the aphid-aphidophagous fauna were analysed in previous papers. -

Large grazing herbivores drive the ecology of the site and can have a profound impact on invertebrates, both positive and negative. This survey was commissioned in order to assess the site’s invertebrate assemblage in a standardised and repeatable way both internally between fields and sections and temporally between years. Eight fields were selected across the estate with two in the north, two in the central block -

Entomol. Fennica 30: 114125. https://doi.org/ 10.33338/ef.84086 The paper presents new data on the occurrence of 69 beetle species collected in 2017 in the Bia³owie¿a Forest, NE Poland. The list contains representatives of 27 families: Anthribidae, Bostrichidae, Ciidae, Cleridae, Coccinellidae, Corylo- phidae, Cryptophagidae, Curculionidae, Dasytidae, Elateridae, Endomychidae, Eucnemidae, Histeridae, Laemophloeidae, Latridiidae, Leiodidae, Lycidae, Me- landryidae, Mycetophagidae, Ptinidae, Ripiphoridae, Salpingidae, Staphyli- nidae, Tenebrionidae, Tetratomidae, Throscidae, and Zopheridae. The majority of the species represents saproxylic, i.e. dead wood-dependent, beetles. Biology and distribution of some rarely recorded species are briefly discussed. All species are reported for the first time from the Bia³owie¿a Forest and, furthermore, Corticaria crenicollis Mannerheim, 1844 (Latridiidae) is new for the fauna of Poland.
