Na druhé stran však dochází sou asn k jejímu ochuzování v souvislosti s rozvojem lidské spole nosti. Z pohledu ochrany p írody se proto horské ekosystémy adí mezi jedno z nejcenn jších a nejohrožen jších prost edí v globálním m ítku. V rámci p edložené doktorské práce byly studovány vybrané potenciáln významné antropické vlivy na biodiverzitu horských bezlesí Hrubého Jeseníku prost ednictvím modelové bioindika ní skupiny brouk (Coleoptera). V prostoru primárního bezlesí arkto- alpinní tundry byl studován vliv sjezdových tratí a invazivní d eviny borovice kle e ( Pinus mugo ) na spole enstva brouk . Na území sekundárních bezlesí podhorských luk a pastvin byl hodnocen vliv zem dlského hospoda ení na brouky a další bezobratlé. Studium vlivu lyža ského areálu prokázalo, že p estože jsou sjezdové trat v alpínské zón zájmového území provozovány zp sobem šetrným k vegetaci, tak pr kazn m ní pvodní spole enstva epigeických brouk . -

Habitat fragmentation and expanding urbanization threaten biodiversity in and around urban areas. Saproxylic beetles can act as bioindicators of forest health and their diversity may help to explain and define urban-forest edge effects. I explored the relationship between saproxylic beetle diversity and distance to an urban area along nine transects in the Västra Götaland region of Sweden. Specifically, the relationships between abundance and species richness and distance from the urban- forest boundary, forest age, forest volume, and tree species ratio was investigated Unbaited flight interception traps were set at intervals of 0, 250, and 500 meters from an urban-forest boundary to measure beetle abundance and richness. A total of 4182 saproxylic beetles representing 179 species were captured over two months. Distance from the urban forest boundary showed little overall effect on abundance suggesting urban proximity does not affect saproxylic beetle abundance. There was an effect on species richness, with saproxylic species richness greater closer to the urban-forest boundary. Forest volume had a very small positive effect on both abundance and species richness likely due to a limited change in volume along each transect. An increase in the occurrence of deciduous tree species proved to be an important factor driving saproxylic beetle abundance moving closer to the urban-forest. -

Brimblecombe and Hayashi Herit Sci (2018) 6:27 https://doi.org/10.1186/s40494-018-0186-1 RESEARCH ARTICLE Open Access Pressures from long term environmental change at the shrines and temples of Nikkō Peter Brimblecombe1* and Mikiko Hayashi1,2 Abstract Background: Important historic buildings at Nikkō are designated National Treasures of Japan or important cultural properties and illustrate notable architectural styles. We examine the records of damaging events and environmental change to estimate that changing balance of threats to guiding strategic planning and protection of the buildings and associated intangible heritage. Methods: Historic records from Nikkō allow past damage to be assessed along with projections of likely future threats. Simple non parametric statistics, Lorenz curves and its associated Gini coefcient aids interpretation of observations. Results: Earthquakes have long represented a threat, but mostly to fxed stone structures. Flooding may be as grow- ing problem, but historically river management has improved. Increasing warmth may mean an increase in the threat of fungal attack. However, insect attack on wood has been a particular problem as recent years have seen damage by wood boring insects, particularly at Sanbutsudō in the temple complex of Rinnō-ji. Although warmer climates may enhance the abundance of insects such as P. cylindricum the life cycle of this rare anobiid is not well understood. The risk of forest fres tends to be higher in drought period, but summer rainfall may well increase at Nikkō. Additionally good forestry practice can reduce this risk. Future changes to climate are likely to alter the fowering dates and the arrival of autumn colours. -

We investigated the temporal effect of prescribed burning of clear-cuts in two regions in central Sweden: one region with a relatively unbroken forest- fire continuity (Orsa) and one region with a broken fire continuity (Långshyttan) more typical for Fennoscandia. -

Författare Author: Chipango Kamboyi Sammanfattning Abstract Oak habitats are rich in saproxylic species, but the habitat is declining with loss of diversity due to encroachment which decrease the vitality of oaks. The present explorative study compared results from a study conducted in 1994, with present species communities to observe if there has been change in species composition and what factors that can explain species diversity and composition. The results revealed that the overall species composition between 1994 and 2018 has changed. There were 130 species recorded in 2018 compared to 108 species in 1994 (31 new species were recorded in 2018, and 9 species lost from the study in 1994). There was a high species turnover recorded per individual tree, and the species composition between the living and encountered dead trees did not differ. -
