Senator Mitch McConnell to publish his memoir THE LONG GAME, in May 2016
October 26, 2015 (New York) - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has reached a publishing agreement with Sentinel, an imprint of Penguin Publishing Group, for a memoir to be published in May 2016. World rights were sold at auction to Adrian Zackheim, the President and Publisher of Sentinel, by Robert B. Barnett of the law firm Williams & Connolly.
“This will be a candid memoir of Senator McConnell’s entire life and career, from his childhood battle with polio to the most recent dramas on Capitol Hill,” said Mr. Zackheim. “It will fascinate anyone interested in how Washington really works behind closed doors, as well as the power of modesty, patience, and diligence in a field that seems to demand the opposite traits.”
Senator McConnell plans to discuss many controversial issues, including the rivalry between the Senate and the House, the friction between the Tea Party movement and the GOP leadership, and his relations with key figures such as President Obama, Vice President Biden, and Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid.
Born in Alabama Senator McConnell moved to Kentucky as a child and has been defined ever since by his connection to the Commonwealth. He was the County Judge-Executive of Jefferson County, Kentucky, before his first election to the Senate in 1984. He is married to Elaine Chao, the former Secretary of Labor under President George W. Bush.
Sentinel is an imprint of Penguin Publishing Group, which is a division of Penguin Random House LLC. Sentinel’s authors include notable public figures such as Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Scott Walker, Mike Lee, Donald Rumsfeld, Carly Fiorina, Brian Kilmeade, Jonah Goldberg, Dana Loesch, and Mike Huckabee.
