Specifically, Verizon is providing notification of the replacement of copper distribution and loop facilities with fiber-to-the-premises facilities at all remaining locations in the Angola, Bridgeville, Camden, Dover, Hockessin, Holly Oak, Lewes, Middletown, Marshallton, New Castle, Ocean View, Smyrna, Talleyville, Penn Rose, Wilmington and Wrangle Hill, DE wire centers. Upon completion, Verizon will provide services available over its fiber optic network. The majority of customers served by copper at these locations purchase “plain old telephone service.” Following transition to fiber, Verizon will continue to offer these customers the same POTS over fiber at the same price as they received on copper facilities, with no change in the underlying features and functionalities in their service. There may be one or more obsolete, narrowband services (such as certain DS0 level services) that are incompatible with or unavailable over fiber. -

Katherine Peretick, Commissioner ORDER The Commission commenced this proceeding on January 11, 2010, in order to implement the provisions of 2009 PA 182 (Act 182), which amended Section 310 of the Michigan Telecommunications Act, 1991 PA 179, MCL 484.2101 et seq, MCL 484.2310. The amendment reformed toll access service rates in Michigan. MCL 484.2310(1), (2). As noted in 15 of the previous orders in this docket, Act 182 requires that the Commission administer a fund known as the intrastate switched toll access rate restructuring mechanism (restructuring mechanism). MCL 484.2310(9), 484.2310(23)(e). The restructuring mechanism is used to provide monthly disbursements to eligible providers “in order to recover the lost intrastate switched toll access service revenues resulting from rate reductions under [MCL 484.2310(2)].” MCL 484.2310(8). The restructuring mechanism is funded via “a mandatory monthly contribution by all providers of retail intrastate telecommunications services and all providers of commercial mobile service.” MCL 484.2310(12). The act further provides that “The commission may increase or decrease the contribution assessment on a quarterly or other basis as necessary to maintain sufficient funds for disbursements.” MCL 484.2310(14). -

Subscribers may receive a Lifeline discount on either a wireline or a wireless service, but they may not receive a discount on both services at the same time. Lifeline also supports broadband Internet access service and broadband-voice bundles. FCC rules prohibit more than one Lifeline service per household. Comcast Xfinity - Internet Essentials program $9.95/mo. for up to 15 Mbps https://internetessentials.com/ In response to emergency measures associated with Coronavirus (COVID-19), Internet Essentials will increase speeds from 15/2 Mbps to 25/3 Mbps for all customers. This speed increase will happen automatically - no action is required by customers. In addition, new customers will receive two months of free service.
