St. John Vianney High School is situated on over 37 peaceful acres in St. Louis’ inner- ring suburb of Kirkwood. It’s a safe, attractive and welcoming campus that includes leading academic, spiritual and co-curricular amenities that sets it apart from other schools. Rooted in its Marianist traditions and Catholic values, the Vianney family has built a respected reputation as a place where young men are formed and prepared to face the challenges of our pluralistic society. Vianney was founded in 1960 when St. Louis Joseph Ritter proposed a new private, Catholic high school for boys in south St. Louis County to satisfy the migrating Catholic families. At the request of the Archbishop, the Society of Mary, an order of priests and brothers known as Marianists, agreed to sponsor the school. St. John Vianney High School has continued to blend old and new as they have expanded through the years. In 1986, the school was incorporated and a board of directors was established to provide additional guidance and governing structure. Te board immediately developed a master plan that upgraded sports facilities, renovated the student cafeteria, and improved trafc fow on campus. Mission In 2007, following an intensive capital campaign, the school opened the doors to an impressive new main entrance, commons area, media center, administrative ofces and new Statement state-of-the-art classrooms. In 2013, more change came to the school by updating the HVAC St. John Vianney systems and installing new windows to enhance the classroom learning experience and bring the building up-to-date.
