Each year during the second week of June, the Hinds soccer coaching staff runs a camp for local youth soccer players ages seven to 14. The camp is a full-day, week-long camp that lasts from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. daily. The campers get full use of the Hinds facilities. During the hot afternoons from 1-3 p.m., the campers get to train indoors, and they also get to swim in Hinds’ indoor swimming pool. Lunch is eaten each day in the Hinds cafeteria. Camp directors are Hinds soccer coaches Doug Williams and Marcille McLendon. Each year these two coaches hire local youth and high school coaches to work the camp, while also hiring a certified athletic trainer to deal with any injuries.
