The influence of drainage morphometric system is very significant in understanding the landform processes, soil physical properties and erosion characteristics. The drainage characteristics reflect the influence of variation of these determinants such as topography, climate and geology from place to place. Detailed morphometric analysis provides an insight on basin evolution and further it is role on development of drainage morphometry on landforms and their characteristics. It is a vital tool in any hydrological investigation like assessment of groundwater potential and management, pedology and environmental assessment. In the assessment of hydro geomorphic characteristics of a drainage basin, knowledge of relief and drainage characteristics have to be assessed because these characteristics provide very basic information of physical make up of a basin and help to infer hydrodynamics of a basin.The morphometric approach involving the analysis of Digital elevation model has largely helped in the logical assessment of hydrological character of the basin.

INTRODUCTION Freshwater resources are very important for the life on earth. It harbors many forms of life specially fishes which has great food & economic value. Fish diversity is decreasing day by day due to various man made activities. Fish diversity is not the wealth but it also has some serious implications on fishery. Fish diversity is intensively studied from various parts of Maharashtra (Wagh & Ghate (2003); Singh & Kamble (1987); Ubarhande et al.,(2016)) River Darna is one of the important rivers in Nashik district. It is main river of south region of Nashik district which flows from west to east. Waldevi river join to Darna river at Chehadi place then Darna river join to Godavari. Darna river is one of the most important river for the capture fishery of the Nashik district. From fisheries point of view Darna river occupies an important position, apart from being original habitat of most prized carp species like Catla catla, Labeo rohita, Labeo calbasu and Cirrhinus mrigala.

    Chapter-3 Inter State aspects 3.0 General The Godavari (Janampet) - Cauvery (Grand Anicut) link project is proposed to transfer unutilised waters of Indravati sub basin in Chhattisgarh, available at the proposed Janampet barrage across river Godavari to the water short areas in Godavari, Krishna, Gundlakamma, Pennar, Palar, Cauvery and other intermediate basins for augmentation of irrigation, domestic and industrial needs in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. Tamil Nadu directly and Karnataka by substitution. An extensive survey of the Krishna river system by Jayaram (1995) could not report this species. Furthermore, the species has not been recorded by any other study in Krishna river system.     Government of India Ministry of Jal Shakti Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation GODAVARI RIVER MANAGEMENT BOARD ANNUAL REPORT 2019-20 5th Floor, Jalasoudha, Errumanzil, Hyderabad-500082 FROM CHAIRMAN’S DESK It gives me immense pleasure to present the Annual Report of Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) for the year 2019-20. In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1), (4) and (5) of Section 85 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the Central Government through Gazette Notification dated 28th May, 2014 constituted the Godavari River Management Board for the administration, regulation, maintenance and operation of such projects on Godavari river, as may be notified by the Central Government from time to time.The Annual Report for the year 2019-20 chronicles the various activities undertaken by the Board during the year. The 8th meeting of GRMB was held in August 2019 wherein important administrative, financial and technical issues were deliberated and decisions taken. The Revised Recruitment Rules formulated to recruit supporting officials from the State Governments were approved. The decision on installation of Telemetry System to begin with on Inter- State border points was taken to enable assess the water availability/ usage at strategic points in Godavari Basin and thereby enhancing transparency and goodwill between the party States. The support and cooperation of Government of India and both the State Governments in facilitating smooth functioning of GRMB is gratefully acknowledged.     Chapter - 1 The Study Area INTRODUCTION GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE STUDY AREA : Nashik District lying between 19° 35' and 20° 52' north latitude and 73° 16' and 74° 56' east latitude, with an area of 15,582.0 km^ (6,015 sq.miles) has a population of 49,93,796 with 18 towns and 792 inhabited villages and 1136 uninhibited villages as per the sensus of 2001. Rhomboidal in shape with the longer diagonal about 170 km. From south west to north east and an extreme breadth of about 170 km. From north to south, Nasik is bounded on the north west by the Dangs and Surat district of Gujrath state, on the north by the Dhulia district, on the east by Jalgaon and Aurangabad districts, on the south by Ahmednagar district and towards the south west by Thana district (Map 1). The district derives its name from that of its headquarters town of Nasik, for the origin of which two interpretations are given. The town is sited on the nine peaks or NAVASHIKHARA and hence its name. The other relates to incident in the Ramayana, where at this place Laxamana is said to have cut off the nose (NASIKA) of Shurpanakha. Nasik is situated on the bank of the rivers and hills. Anjaneri hill is a fine mass of trap rock, with lofty upper and lower scraps, each resting on wild and well wooded plateau. From Anjeneri hill there is a spur extending southwards for about 3 km. From which three branches spurs resembling a trishul, which extends beyond the Dama river and its headwater streams are to be found three ranges radiating in irregular curves from the Saihyadri bordering another river Vaitarna.

Trans-disciplinary approaches have become necessary. Some of the revolutionary discoveries in Biological Science like the double helix coil of life (i.e. DNA) are due to the developments in Chemical and Physical Sciences. Plants and animals are one of Earth’s greatest resources. They are sources of food, medicines and materials with vast economic and cultural importance. The plants stabilize ecosystems and form the habitats that sustain the planet’s animal and microbial life. Both plants and animals are also threatened by climate change, the environmental factors and human interaction. Each species has its own unique characteristics and in a world that is increasingly moving towards a global bioeconomy, each organism is a potential source of materials that are of benefit to mankind. Over the centuries new technologies were/and are being developed to sustainably use both living and nonliving resources to provide goods and services. Of over estimated about 8 million living organisms on earth less than 2 million species have been documented since the beginning of scientific study of living organisms. Continuous efforts are made to understanding their relationships rather than making concerted efforts to complete their documentation and conservation to sustainably utilise them.
