Shemon has appeared as concerto soloist with the University of Michigan Symphony and Concert Bands, the Plymouth (Mich .) Symphony, Ann Arbor Concert Band, and Firelands Symphony, and has performed with New Music Detroit, Opera Colorado, and the Windsor Symphony . As a chamber musician, Shemon was a prizewinner in the 2005 and 2011 Fischoff International Chamber Music Competitions . He is a founding member of the Arundo Donax Reed Quintet and enjoys an active touring and recording schedule with the PRISM Quartet, which celebrated its 25th season in 2009-10 . Since 2007, when he joined PRISM, the group has performed as soloist with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project and Pacific Symphony, among others, commissioned and premiered dozens of new works, and released four CDs on the innova label, as well as numerous other recordings on the New Dynamic, Albany, and New Focus labels . Shemon can also be heard with the University of Michigan Symphony Band on several Equilibrium releases and on the Naxos recording of John Adams’ Nixon in China. Zach is currently an associate instructor of saxophone at Indiana University, where he is pursuing a Doctor of Music degree and studies with Otis Murphy . He holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Indiana University . Shemon is a Conn-Selmer artist and performs on Selmer (Paris) saxophones . He is also a Rico Performing Artist and endorses Rico Reserve Classic saxophone reeds .
