Mr. Bernstein would doubtless have been feted in concert halls and festivals, on radio and television, with compact discs, cassettes and even vinyl, from Vienna to Sapporo and everywhere in between, all fitting testimonials to the Maestro's energy, to his eager sharing of the beauty he perceived, and to his remarkable genius. It is the fortune of great artists that when they do leave us, they nevertheless bequeath us a special part of themselves, namely their art. In his , his writings, his teaching, Leonard Bernstein left us an invaluable legacy. His ideals are the foundation for the recently inaugurated Bernstein Center for Education Through the Arts in Nashville, Tennessee.
