Introduction The Houston Black Heritage Festival is a celebration of African and African Ameri- can culture expressed through art, music, poetry, food, and community.

The purpose of the event is to promote cat- alytic changes in the health and wellness of Houston’s African American families and communities and to support direct services including education and financial empower- ment. The goal is to connect diverse people and families from across the region with lo- cal and regional elected officials along with local, national and international artists, per- formers, food vendors, area business own- ers and media.

The event will provide the platform to teach, share, and celebrate the distinct cultural traditions and heritage of Africans and Afri- can Americans.
