(Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) from the Freshwater Fishes in the Shitalakshya River, Bangladesh

Kibria; E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT. Two trichodinid species were identified from freshwater fishes, Mystus bleekeri and Glossogobius giuris , in the Shitalakshya River of Gazipur district, Bangladesh. Trichodina acuta Lom, 1961 is found for the first time in Bangladesh. Trichodina shitalakshyae sp. n. is characterized by having an undivided clear central area in the adhesive disc with a rounded or slightly undulated perimeter containing a few dark granules which form patches; elongated and rectangular blade with large interblade space and blunt tangent point; indistinct anterior blade apophysis and a shallow apex at the base of blade that never extends beyond the Y+1 axis; moderately wide and triangular central part with blunt point; and space between tip of ray and central clear area forms a wide impregnated ring. Based on these characters and the unique shape and absence of variability of the denticles among the silver impregnated specimens of the present species, it resembles Trichodina porocephalusi Asmat, 2001. Welcome To The Workshops Dear Colleague, Due to increasing demands for education and training in ultrasonography, World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology has established its First "WFUMB Center of Excellence" in Dhaka in 2004. Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography is the First WFUMB Affiliate to receive this honor. The aims of the WFUMB COE is to provide education and training in medical ultrasonography, to confer accreditation after successful completion of necessary examinations and to accumulate current technical information on ultrasound techniques under close communication with other Centers, WFUMB and WHO Global Steering Group for Education and Teaching in Diagnostic Imaging. 23 WFUMB Center of Education Workshop of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology will be held jointly in the City of Dhaka on 6 & 7 March 2020. International Conference on Universal Design in Built Environment ( ICUDBE 2011) Kulliyah of Architecture and Environmental Design International Islamic University Malaysia 22-23 November 2011 Lalbagh Rethought Exploring the incomplete Mughal fortress in Dhaka, Bangladesh Md Mizanur Rashid (PhD) Department of Architecture, Kulliyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED) International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ABSTRACT Lalbagh Fort is probably the most ambitious building activity undertaken by the Mughal rulers of Dhaka. Although the complex coined the name ‘Lalbagh Fort’ because of its huge fortification walls and gateways, the master plan and the layouts of the buildings that still exist suggest little or no similarity with the other Mughal forts either in Bengal or any other parts of India. The construction of the complex ran only for one decade and it was left abandoned for unknown reason. The brief history of the megaproject had been buried since 1688 and the fort remained incomplete till date. Several attempts have been made so far to recover the memories of this monument after the amnesia of centuries. However, the incomplete nature of construction, the limited amount of archaeological resource, literary evidences and epigraphic records at the disposal of the architectural historians appears as the main thicket. Filling up this lacuna using these apparently inconspicuous resources certainly put the existing discourse regarding this monument in a perplexed situation. This perplexity is the character of the architecture of Lalbagh today. It poses a long list of questions regarding its original master plan, its purpose and its history of construction, of which we are yet to provide definite answers being in a telescopic distance. -

Different water quality parameters and fish catchment data 2Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute, were taken from each site on monthly basis. Fish were identified in family basis Marine Fisheries & Technology Station, through surveying in fish landing centre, fish markets and fisher’s community Cox’s Bazar, BANGLADESH and samples were brought to laboratory for accurate taxonomic identification. Temperature, turbidity and pH were found to be different depending on season; while, dissolved O2 and NH3 were moderately uniform in all season. Almost twenty taxonomic families have been identified. Among them, the Cyprinidade Keywords family was the most abundant familiy (34%), following Bagridae (8%), Siluridae Seasonality (6%); while, the Mugilidae (1%) was the least abundant one. The highest and Fin Fish lowest value in the majority of diversity indices were observed in monsoon and Diversity indices winter, respectively. The Pearson correlation test was conducted to evaluate Water quality parameters the regression coefficient between different water quality parameters and Hakaluki Haor diversity indices. -

While there are several Mughal structures found in the Indian sub-continent, this incomplete fort is the only footprint of encamped Mughal garden style that remains in the capital of Bengal, Jahangirnagar (now Dhaka). -

Dhaka, the capital city of independent Bangladesh, is known as the city of mosques. The Mughal mosques of Dhaka are the exceptional example of mosque architecture wherever the ideas and used materials with distinguishing features Keywords: have been successfully integrated in the medieval context of Bengal. In this research study, the author Mughal Mosque, Dhaka city, Sat Gambuj selected a unique historical as well as Dhaka’s most iconic Mughal era Mosque named “Sat Gambuj Mosque, Architectural Features, Structure Mosque” (Seven Domed Mosque). The mosque, built in the 17th century, is a glowing illustration of and Decoration, Distinguishing Features. Mughal Architecture with seven bulbous domes crowning the roof of the mosque, covering the main prayer area. -
