for urban governance and service delivery improvements in Municipalities (Paurashavas) and City Corporations of Bangladesh for a number of years. In 2012-13 the Bank undertook an in-depth analytical study which analyzed options for appropriate models of water supply and sanitation (WSS) service delivery, and made recommendations for operationalizing these models. Discussions were initiated on possible World Bank lending assistance to GoB for strengthening the WSS service delivery system along with infrastructure development at secondary town level, which resulted in the “Bangladesh Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Project (MWSSP)”. The objective of the Bangladesh Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Project (MWSSP)

Almost all the workplaces were shut about for 66 days from 26 March 2020. As a result, the number of workplace deaths is little bit low than previous year 2019, but not that much low as it is supposed to be. Every year Safety and Rights Society (SRS) is monitoring newspaper for collecting and preserving information on workplace accidents and the number of victims of those accidents and publish a report after conducting the yearly survey – this year report is the tenth in the series. SRS depends not only the newspapers as the source for information but it also accumulated some information from online media and through personal contact with workers representative organizations. This year 26 newspapers (15 national and 11 regional) were monitored and the present report includes information on workplace deaths (as well as injuries that took place in the same incident that resulted in the deaths) throughout 2020.

Two trichodinid species were identified from freshwater fishes, Mystus bleekeri and Glossogobius giuris , in the Shitalakshya River of Gazipur district, Bangladesh. Trichodina acuta Lom, 1961 is found for the first time in Bangladesh. Trichodina shitalakshyae sp. n. is characterized by having an undivided clear central area in the adhesive disc with a rounded or slightly undulated perimeter containing a few dark granules which form patches; elongated and rectangular blade with large interblade space and blunt tangent point; indistinct anterior blade apophysis and a shallow apex at the base of blade that never extends beyond the Y+1 axis; moderately wide and triangular central part with blunt point; and space between tip of ray and central clear area forms a wide impregnated ring. Based on these characters and the unique shape and absence of variability of the denticles among the silver impregnated specimens of the present species, it resembles Trichodina porocephalusi Asmat, 2001. The disaster killed an estimated 160 persons, including 115 persons in Rangamati alone. According to the Chittagong Divisional Health Office Control Room Report, a total of 187 injured persons were admitted in local level hospitals. Approximately 85% of patients were admitted in Rangamati. While landslide related disaster occurs nearly every year, the second highest death toll of 127 deceased persons was recorded in 2007 [Disaster Forum, June 2017]. Monsoon rains caused severe flooding in low-lying areas to significantly damage road and communication infrastructure. Flood water rendered remote communities in Bandarban, Chittagong, and Rangamati districts were inaccessible by road. On June 14th, mudslides in southeast Bangladesh claimed additional lives in Cox's Bazaar and Khagrachari districts to further damage homes and infrastructure.

Through this exhibition, we supported the Year of Water initiative as observed by the Government of Karnataka. It also featured H2O Today, a popular traveling exhibition by the Smithsonian Institution. We encouraged visitors to explore the collective experiences of water and refIect on future challenges through a range of dynamic exhibits and workshops. We presented 15 exhibits spread across three floors of Bangalore International Centre, which examined the role of water in our lives, beyond the value that we derive from it. These exhibits were brought to life through 45 connected programmes such as workshops, lectures, master classes, film screenings and musical performances. Participants engaged with the latest research and thinking on water, and examined its cultural significance, by interacting with scholars and artists from around the world. A total of 45 fishers were surveyed from November 2020 to April 2021. It was found that the family size of 53% of fishers was medium, consisting of 5- 6 members. Most of the fisher communities belonged to the age group above 45 years old, represented by 100% Muslim. About 73% of fishers were less educated, 13% primary level, 7% secondary level, and 7% Secondary School Certificate passed and above, respectively. Most of the fishers (60%) have katcha houses with tin roofing, 7% have katcha house with straw roofs, 13% have semi- pucca houses and 20% have pucca houses. Around 93% of fishers used their own tube-well while only 7% used neighbours’ tube-well. All of the fisher household were connected with electricity supply.

BAKR3 A. K. M. MATIAR RAHMAN4 AND S. N. UDDIN5 Abstract A survey was conducted during October 2006 to June 2008 to observe disease prevalence of vegetable and fruit crops in Chittagong region. Through the survey, 24 diseases with their incidence and severity were recorded. The average higher leaf infection in early blight of potato and fruit infection in soft rot of potato were recorded 37% and 39%, respectively. The highest leaf infection (43%) of early blight of tomato that was more frequented (mode) 36% in different locations with ±0.45% ranges (Standard error) for causing the disease as recorded at Sadar Anwara upazila of Chittagong. The highest fruit infection of soft rot of potato (43%) was recorded at Dohazari, Chandanaish upazila in Chittagong. The average of higher disease severity of leaf (27%) and fruit (33%) was recorded in early blight of tomato and soft rot of potato, respectively, and the highest disease severity of leaf (29%) and fruit (35%) was recorded in Phomopsis blight and early blight of tomato and soft rot of potato, respectively. Crop loss owing to the diseases poses a great threat to Bangladesh agriculture. More than 454 diseases in around 100 cultivated crops have so far been recorded in Bangladesh (Anon., 2006). The diseases cause substantial losses to crops.
