Waitemata FC WE ARE NORTH SHORE SATURDAY 10th JUNE 2017 – KICK OFF 3PM NRFL – RD13 OFFICIAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME OPPOSITION: WAITEMATA FC TOM SPEERS Head Coach Would like to welcome you all back to the Hill today, seems like a while since we have been at our home ground so are looking forward to it. Would also like to welcome Bob and his Waitemata team who will be confident after picking up a good point against Melville last Saturday. We have not been performing at our best recently, with small mistakes costing us and not wanting to use cliches, but 'simply not getting rub of the green' at the moment. We understand this is football, and the boys picked themselves up and gave a professional performance against Claudelands, getting back to basics and doing all the small things right and putting in a solid display We are looking to bounce back in the league today so get behind the boys, make some noise and fill the hill! HEAD COACH ASST. COACH ASST. COACH MANAGER Tom SPEERS Ben WALL Tom BRAY Bill LISSINGTON DARRYL PETHERICK Club Chair, NSU I know everyone is acutely aware of the grounds issues facing the peninsula's football community. I can't believe 5 years has passed since we started to address this issue. This morning we were pleased to host some of the Devonport Takapuna Community Board at Allen Hill, in an effort to secure their support towards providing long term solutions. This week I am going to use this opportunity to update you on ground and funding allocation progress. Hopefully all our club members saw the 'push' we have given this topic during the week. The council's consultation process is drawing to a close and shortly that community board will be asked to make a decision on where they want the 2+ million dollar investment in our area. What is proposed is an upgrade to the Allen Hill surface to a hybrid pitch (combination of artificial and natural grass) - plus the installation of a 3/4 pitch plus lights. This will significantly increase the 'playing hours' available to us, as well as the playing conditions available to all members. There are so many aspects to this, from the supply and demand analysis conducted, that quite frankly initially misrepresented grounds around us, to our growing participation numbers, and travelling to 'home' games in Albany for so many families. What it all boils down to is we are over due for funding allocation. We all know the benefits of active recreation for our kids, and those of us that are kids at heart. If an increase in the hours of play available to us doesn't occur now, alternative of reducing and capping our playing numbers is untenable. How on earth are we going to choose who can't play football? I ask for your support - as part of the oldest football club in New Zealand, with playing numbers 1000 strong. Go to our Facebook page and start there. https://www.facebook.com/North-Shore-United-AFC-205585653228899/ Welcome to Waitemata Football Club for today's fixture against the Shore, I know Tom and the lads are keen as ever to stay in touch with the leaders. A club called Western United was formed headed by Tommy Russell, Reg Matthews and Frank Lowe The Ranui community is steeped in Rugby but the new club was formed in 1959 with junior teams followed by Senior teams the next year. In 1960 the senior club came to life with a gala held at Cooks Paddock in Swanson Road. Floats were made and travelled along Swanson Rd from Redwood Park to the new grounds at Cooks Paddock. In the same year a float was entered in the Auckland Anniversary show at Western Springs and a stall was set up with table football on offer. In the early to mid 60s Western earned promotion to the 2nd Division. In 1962 they won the Dacre Cup the 2nd Division Knockout Competition. Promotion to the 1st Division was achieved by winning the 2nd Division in 1963 and retaining the Dacre Cup. In 1964 Western reached the semifinals of the Chatham Cup Northern Section, losing 2–3 to Mt Wellington in extra time. Ken Armstrong the legendary Mt Wellington Coach reported in the NZ Herald that the support and singing from the Western fans was akin to English Football fans. Through those years at one time 38 games were played without defeat and the feat was reported in the NZ Herald. In the early years a large number of players were in the NZ Air Force based at Whenuapai, plus many British & Dutch immigrant players and the odd Kiwi.

Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Welcome to Mangere United to the second round of the NRFL first and reserves. This is second of four home games. Over these weeks of home fixtures it is time to get in behind both sides with the support they need to cross the line and turn the tables around. Don’t give up. Last week’s game was a goody and playing like that is what’s needed week in and out. As the season moves on think back as to whose helping, organising, doing that bit extra, managing, in all areas of the club so their names can be put forward to the different committees for possible end of year awards. I mentioned a couple last week. You should all by now have your raffle tickets yes even I got a book. Put in the effort - I have 5 left easy to sell with the great prizes. To all members a reminder that the club draw is at 6pm and while you wait with a drink or two or something from the cafe, sit and discuss the what could have been or now to make it better for all those involved with the game. See you on the side line at the park. Kerry Bevan President WE NEED YOUR HELP Pablo Yackson is a crucial member of our first team and has recently shifted to New Zealand from South America.

We Are North Shore SATURDAY 13th MAY 2017 – KICK OFF 2PM CHATHAM CUP – RD1 OFFICIAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME OPPOSITION: METRO FC HEAD COACH– Tom Speers Good afternoon and welcome back to the the Hill for the 1st round of the Chatham Cup. I would like to welcome Mike and his Metro team here today, I expect it to be a lot tighter game than when they visited in the first game of season and I'm sure they will be looking to do a lot better than the 7-0 they experienced here that day. I love being part of the Cup and as there is only one cup competition in NZ I'm looking forward to hopefully going far. This club has a rich history in this cup, winning it 6 times, the last being in 1986, so fingers crossed we can progress into the later rounds of the competition and be there or there about towards the end. You can see the success we have had in this competition all over the clubhouse walls and talking with former players who have won it, we know how important it is to the club that we represent the club properly, so unlike the rumours I have been hearing, we will be playing a full strength squad and hoping every club in this competition do the same, resting players when you only have 1 game a week would be disrespectful to the longest cup competition on the planet and also be quite embarrassing for the clubs that do so. I hope you have a good day and hopefully see us progress, get behind the boys and make some noise.
