January 10, 2019 Notice of Expansion:

Albion College is accepting letters of interest from culturally based fraternity and sorority organizations looking to establish chapters at . Specifically, Albion College is looking to add a NPHC Fraternity, a NPHC Sorority, a Latino Fraternity and a Latino Sorority at this time. Selection of organizations to add to campus will occur during the Spring 2019 semester with colonization anticipated to begin Fall of 2019.

Currently the Greek Life community is comprised of six Fraternities (, Delta , , , , and ) and six Sororities (Alpha , , Inc., , , and ). With an increasingly diverse student population Albion College is looking to expand opportunities and add a small number of culturally based Fraternity and Sorority organizations to meet the needs of this diversified population.

Organizations interested in pursuing colonization opportunities at Albion College must meet this criteria for expansion.

 Must be an inter/national society with pre-existing collegiate chapters  Must have a strong inter/ national leadership structure  Must have a strong regional presence within proximity of Albion College that would provide effective chapter support  Are preferred to have affiliation with a national council  Must meet the needs of a significant pool of Albion College students  Must be willing to abide by national, state, and local laws as well as Albion College institutional policies  Must have strong risk management capabilities  Must at minimum have both General Liability and Hire & Non-owned Auto Liability Insurance. Limits of coverage are $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate and the aggregate limits apply separately for each location. Proof of coverage must be provided to Albion College prior to the decision to allow an organization to colonize.  Must obtain written permission from Albion College official(s) to advertise/recruit students at the institution  Must require a minimum of five students to form a collegiate colony  Must require students to have a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA to be eligible for membership  Must require students to be in good standing with Albion College to be eligible for membership  Must be willing/able to participate in a deferred recruitment/intake process which requires students to establish a GPA for one full completed term at Albion College or another accredited college or university to be eligible to join a Fraternity or Sorority organization.

Albion College is a private four-year college of the liberal arts, historically related to the United Methodist Church. Founded in 1835, Albion College was the first private college in Michigan to have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Located in Albion, Michigan, a diverse community with a population of 8600, Albion College is a residential campus with an enrollment of 1550 students, of which 49% female and 51% male. Albion College’s nickname is the Britons and fields several varsity teams for men and women competing in the NCAA Division III level.
